Resident Evil Survival Unit is a fascinating departure for the series, successfully pivoting the survival horror formula into a tactical squad-based framework. It feels like 'Resident Evil meets XCOM,' but played out in a real-time, high-tension format. The 'Horror' isn't lost in the perspective shift; seeing a Licker skitter across a ceiling while your team is low on ammo is just as stressful from above as it is from behind the shoulder.
The resource management is brutal in the classic RE tradition. You’ll find yourself agonizing over whether to spend your last 5.56 rounds on a group of slow zombies or risk a melee encounter to save them for a potential Hunter. The squad roles feel meaningful, and losing a high-level operative to a T-Virus infection because you didn't have enough Blue Herbs is heartbreaking. It’s a deep, challenging spin-off that respects the lore while offering a fresh way to experience the biohazard outbreak.
Iconic Resident Evil monsters
Deep tactical combat
Resource and inventory management
Unlockable classic characters
Always place your heavy gunner in the center of the formation to provide 360-degree cover, while the medic stays in the rear with a shotgun for close encounters.
Scavenge every room. Herbs and ammo are scarce, and you must decide whether to use a Green Herb now or save it to craft a more potent Mixture later.
No, it is a tactical top-down survival game focusing on squad management.
I have to write another review, because this is becoming a pain in the behind. I absolutely love this game, haven’t had this much fun playing a game in longer than I can remember. I don’t usually play these types of games, but I saw your ad and the story line is what drew me in. The beginning of the game was really hard for me, but I’m an old lady, so that’s my excuse, lol. I’m figuring the game out as I go, and I’m having a great time with it. But I have a complaint, only one, but it’s really bothering me. Ok, so when there are directions, or leads or anything written that pops up, ITS ONLY UP FOR A HALF OF A SECOND!!!!! I’m a fast reader, so I know it’s not just me. Please can you leave things up for AT LEAST A FEW SECONDS?!! Please. I feel like I’m missing so much of the game because I can’t read fast enough. I’m not a computer, I’m a living breathing human being who needs more than one half of a second to read the directions and clues. Other than that, I’m very much enjoying this wonderful game. The developers, the writers- whoever is responsible for this incredible game- THANK YOU. You made one little old lady very happy. Merry Christmas to all the team at Resident Evil.
I know I may be a little biased when rating this game, but I do genuinely believe that Resident Evil Survival Unit is the next step forward for mobile gaming as a whole. I haven’t played it for too long, but I can already say that it does a great job porting existing resident evil mechanics into your pocket. It’s also not your standard simulation game that you see oh so frequently in the app story today. RESV thrives on its unique gameplay that you will find almost no where else. The game gives you an exiting tutorial that teaches you all the standard mechanics of a resident evil game. It may branch off from the main canon of the original games, but it does so in a way that feels fluid and as if it could have actually been the plot of the mainline titles. Previous fans of the series will have a great time seeing some of their favorite characters fight within exciting new combat, while newer fans will love the fun new story that provides a good introduction to what makes Resident Evil games so incredible.
As a massive Resident Evil fan, this game was (at least a little bit) exciting to hear about. And when it starts it’s very promising. There’s a cute little fixed-camera exploration segment with some RE1 references. After about 15 minutes of that, the game becomes a generic mobile game where you have a “survival base” and you join a faction and you have to constantly upgrade stuff. The amount of different gameplay types there are in this game is ridiculous. There’s this weird Raid: Shadow Legends tactical combat mode, there’s the exploration mode ala RE1, there’s a map where you can see your alliance and it’s just too much. There are menus upon menus upon menus upon menus upon menus all with buttons to tap to fill my brain with dopamine. This game is meant to be played with your mouth wide open while drool spills down your shirt. There are so many mechanics to keep track of but I think the intent is for you to not understand them so you just click buttons and accidentally spend a buck or two. It feels like five games in one, and only one of them is decent. It’s genuine slop, which is really unfortunate cuz the game started out kinda cool. There’s some neat ideas and clearly there were some people on this team that had passion but overall it’s not worth your time.
Hello all, love games and this is what I do as a hobby. I try every strategy game old and new that I can find and give it a try. So the opening in this game I absolutely loved. You have the thriller and the horror elements but then the gameplay is completely bland from the graphics to the characters. It’s hard to distinguish which building is what unless you tap every single one. The game blends together and that’s super boring. To attack in world map or just try to get resources is a hassle. Everything is mushed together and it’s hard to identify. Same issues with the alliance. There are glitches with promotions and chat. Notifications lack a bit of more options. It’s also hard to find the UTC time which is what most of these games use so how can we schedule events without knowing those? The packs are a bit pricey for what they give you so I wasn’t interested in that. I’m a spender but I’m not blind. I won’t spend if it won’t help me long term. Anyway, good luck to you guys! I hope the game improves.
There are several elements of this game that are very poorly thought out. One extremely glaring example is the radar missions. The mission level increases however after level 7 the mission count and grade do not increase. What is the point of having it go all the way to 20? It serves no purpose. Then you have the speed up items. I have close to 1000 medical speed up items because I’ve never needed them. The longest I’ve seen for troop healing is 5 minutes. A third area that needs changed is the universal hero files. I just unlocked Ada Wong, a legendary character. However I’m not allowed to use my Legendary Universal Hero Files to increase her star rating. You can apparently only use them on Claire. So what’s the point of having them? They should just give Claire shards and be done with it. There are only TWO rare characters and their shards drop quite easily so why have Rare Universal Hero Files?
The beginning of the game was of course really good as most mobile games are. You start off as a character moving around buildings and fighting the infected and solving puzzles to navigate around. Then it turns into a base building game. You have the opportunity to explore buildings again as the character but it’s far in between. The “meat and potatoes” of this game is base building. I’m sort ok with that but it’s not handled very well. I got as far as chapter 9, and I can’t understand for the life of me how to progress. In order to complete the task I have to donate to an alliance, but I can’t figure out how to do that because it says that it’s already been met no matter what I do. Then another task to complete the chapter so I can progress further is to defeat some creature, but it says I can’t do it until I defeat something else first and blah blah blah. I’m sorry, but it’s very complicated trying to figure out what I’m supposed to do in order to progress. I don’t know if there’s a glitch in the system, but it shouldn’t be this complicated to do anything. Uninstalled!
1-the intro is perfect, 2-the fact that you can going through the building and explore it’s a new idea, 3-you need to enhance the graphic because there is a lot of mobile game that has better graphic than this one 4- add building animation IS A MUST because the building looks just an image like Nothing is moving that indicate the building is producing food or lumber, even when you upgrade the building nothing is changing which is that’s a little bit boring( speaking for myself I played the game for maybe 40 min and when I saw the building is just an image that’s a dealbreaker because part of the strategy game the environment need to be dynamic. As a resident evil fan the story is good but the strategy aspect it’s like you spent three weeks to develop this game.
The biggest red flag for me that made me even not want to play the game in the first place is you could not reject or turn off them collecting your data. If you select that option to see what they collect there is a big red button that says do not sell my personal data. If you click that there is then a toggle you need to click. After exiting that menu I went back in and the toggle was on again after I turned it off. Companies need to start paying us if they want to sell our data. The games is just bad. I wanted to get the base stuff but the intro takes so long and is just bad and boring. I also was under the impression this was just a base building game with some fights but there is this whole bad exploration part of it. Having a zombie walk up to me where my gun is in their face and when I shoot I keep getting miss miss miss is not fun. I get it's a free to play but put the free to play aspect in the base building part. Deleted and won't touch it again.
