Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is a masterclass in 'wholesome' gaming. It manages to capture the bittersweet, philosophical spirit of Tove Jansson’s original works perfectly. As Snufkin, you aren't fighting monsters with a sword; you're fighting the encroachment of 'order' on nature with a harmonica. The gameplay is a gentle mix of exploration, light stealth, and musical puzzles that feel integrated into the story rather than forced upon it.
The art style is breath-taking—it looks like a watercolor painting come to life. Walking through the valley, interacting with characters like Moomintroll and Little My, feels like stepping into a cherished childhood memory. The soundtrack, featuring collaborations with Sigur Rós, is the soul of the game, providing a hauntingly beautiful backdrop to your journey. It’s a quiet, profound experience that encourages you to slow down and appreciate the small details of the world. A mandatory play for anyone who needs a break from the noise of modern gaming.

Relaxing Exploration
Different animals react to different melodies. Use the 'Low C' to calm the birds and create a path through the trees in the forest area.
In the Park Keeper sections, use the environment to hide. Distract the guards with your music to sneak past and dismantle the structures.
Absolutely! It is a gentle, non-violent game perfect for all ages.
The gameplay is very simple and not at all challenging without being borderline boring, which imo makes for a good cozy game. You can play through in one sitting but the game is long enough that i think it’s worth the few bucks. The art style is very cute. Despite the decent quality graphics for the gameplay however, the cut scenes are a bit blurry. It didnt bother me too much but i can see why it may be a bit annoying for some. I also ran into a tiny problem during the final cutscene where nothing was working and i had to redo the prison sneaky getaway 💔 Overall, the story and the gameplay were pretty cute but nothing extraordinary. 3.75/5 would recommend :)
I really enjoyed playing this game!! It was calm and beautiful, and the story was wholesome. I was sad when it ended! Partly because I would like to play more, and partly because I don’t normally pay for apps, but I made an exception for this and was sad at how short it was. (No shade!! It was a treat to play!) I would love a new chapter if that is in the works at all. :)
I was so excited to play this and it did not disappoint. I just wish that there was a little more to do. I finished the game within 2 days of getting it, although I still have to get a couple achievements lol. But other than it being a little short for my tastes I enjoyed it so much and I am definitely going to replay it many times over. It’s so cozy and gives me a warm feeling inside. It’s just what I need to recharge from a rough day! Everyone who worked on this game did a fantastic job! I hope that there can be more added in the future! :D
Absolutely love this game! I found it randomly and downloaded it because I was bored. What a treasure find! The art is beautiful and the storyline keeps you interested. Plenty of side quests too! Not to mention it opened up a whole new realm of stories that I didn’t even know existed! I only had two issues with the gameplay but the most important of the two seemed to resolve itself so I was able to progress in the game. I will be getting this game on other platforms, I’m interested to see if there are any differences.
The introductory part of the game is long an drawn out. It left me feeling like when is this game going to become fun. Once you start getting to the part where you make the park beautiful, you hit the pay wall. Part of making the park beautiful again is making it through the maze undetected while you evading the park police and taking out signs as a form of protest (you have to get rid of the signs, to make the police disappear, and make the garden beautiful again?). Anyway, it doesn’t feel like it’s worth paying 6.99 for.
This could be very well be my favorite game of the year. Think A Short Walk, but with a stronger point of view. I’m a sucker for a story about redemption, and this game hid one in plain view. Oh, and to be clear the game plays beautifully on iOS, even with screen controls.
I have only played the free part but am thinking on buying the full game. This game was calm and very cool gameplay mechanics. I just wish there was one thing in accessibility where every text bubble would only go away when you tap on the screen.
I have been looking for a game like this FOREVER! The plot and storyline that isn’t super complex or boring, amazing graphics, beautiful soundtrack, and multiple character interactions. This game was so addicting and enjoyable! Highly recommend to people who are looking for a sweet cozy feel-good game! Please release more like these!
