Best Digital CCG Since Hearthstone
Thu Nov 23 2023 MurderGrind

I was an avid Hearthstone player for years before the constant additions of sets/rotations and game types wore me out. After bouncing around between digital CCG’s, I can easily say that Warpforge has quenched that thirst for a fun, addictive, and competitive experience. If you like CCG’s and 40K, you should try it. If you like games similar to Hearthstone, Gwent, or MTG, you should try it. There are free daily drafts to run (you get 1 free per day), daily missions to complete campaigns to obtain cards/packs/cosmetic, and there’s ranked and unranked play in addition to practice mode which allows you to use your own decks to practice with or pre-made ones. Pre-made a can only be used in practice mode unless it’s the campaign starter deck. I think it’s important to point out that the developer, Everguild, appears to be listening to community feedback. Less than 2 weeks after launch they took down the cosmetics cash shop due to player input and decided they’d re-work the items into the game so players could earn them instead of buy them. They’ve also already issued a notable balancing nerf to a couple factions, though more balancing still needs to be done. They’ve also issued codes for free cosmetics and packs since launch. All and all, it’s a fun CCG, it can be competitive or casual, and the developer seems to have their heart in the right place. Would recommend to anyone into CCG’s.

Blood for the blood God!
Sun Nov 12 2023 JmJ4

Though it’s too early to fully rate this game, I can say Warpforge has an incredibly fun, deep, tactical, addictive, graphically stunning five star foundation in place that can easily become a must play CCG if the developers continue to build on what is already in place. If you like Warhammer, CCGs, or anything turn based with strategic depth, this game is probably already a must play for you as it was for me. Between daily rewards, missions, weekly rewards, campaigns, the forge, and the shop there is a good variety of ways to acquire cards. Another fun way to add to your collection is a free daily draft that offers rewards upon completion. The draft is also a great way to try out cards you’ve not acquired yet. I’ve tried just about every CCG on the market for decades now and I think Warpforge definitely has the potential to be considered among the best of the best in time. After playing so many games over the years it’s difficult for a new one to impress me, but this one has thoroughly done so, and I’m excited for the factions yet to come! Blood for the blood God indeed!

Completely unbalanced, download and delete
Fri May 31 2024 Nihgiy

Totally unbalanced, this team has no idea what they're doing. Commanders have special abilities that are low cost actions they can do each turn. A few of the commanders have completely broken special abilities where they just hit their ability button every turn and auto-win every match. O'Maisos has an OP drone he replicates each turn, each that do 2 damage to you each turn. THESE GUYS EXPONENTIALLY GROW UNTIL YOU JUST TAKE 10 DAMAGE EACH TURN and die in 3 turns. Board wipe would kill then, BUT MOST FACTIONS DONT HAVE BOARD WIPES. Then there's Worldtaker. He gives buffs to his units each turn that usually result in regeneration, where their units fully heal all damage from the previous turn and grow health beyond their original stats. There's literally no way to keep up damaging them to catch up to their regeneration and health buffs. Soon you have 2-3 unstoppable units just beating down your whole board. Removal is the only way to deal with them, but there is HARDLY ANY REMOVAL. They seriously tanked the game, they'll need 40 new cards between all factions and major special ability nerfs to fix the disaster they've created and if this is how they've started they clearly have no idea how to fix this lopsided game. Even Gwent started better than this. Look at Hearthstone, MTG Arena, or yu-gi-oh next time you try to enter this space and don't think you can just wing it on hopes and dreams.

New Skirmish Draft
Sun Nov 09 2025 Obamiuam

On face value, I love the newest major update with the Space Wolves and permanent edition of the skirmish game mode. What ticks me off so horribly though is the change to the Draft game mode which now follows the rule set for skirmish. I think skirmish is well executed with a few major flaws but fun nonetheless, which was also how I felt about Draft before the update. Now that the two game modes have been combined it seems that the flaws have been amplified but the pluses are to be near nonexistent. I think the game could benefit if they made a draft classic and draft skirmish where you could only use your daily draft for one or the other. I loved draft because of my its ability to allow you to experiment with decks and cards that you either don’t own or don’t really know how to blend into your regular decks, but with it now following the skirmish rules there are clearly groups of cards that steamroll everything else and skill feels neglected with the quicker energy build up in combination to that. It’s not like this issue didn’t exist before but it was certainly a lot more manageable. I like skirmish but it feels like it’s just being shoved down our throats. Give me someway to access classic draft and I’ll be happy.

Great game.

Most bad reviews I see on this game are people complaining about problems that are not relevant in the slightest. It’s one of the current best ccg games currently out there. You can be free to play and still get all of the cards in the game it just takes more time just like any other ccg. Sure you can pay money to get things faster but everything it earnabke as a free to play player. This is coming from someone who is in the top alliance in the game and has reached top 50 several times. The games been doing very good at frequently adding new content and coming out with balance patches. Sometimes they release a faction or a balance patch that will sometimes make a faction too strong but they do a get job at nerfing factions and cards that are too strong. Highly recommend giving the game a try if you haven’t already.

Totally P2W, thats why I play pve
Fri Aug 01 2025 Person with good advice

So, before you get into this game and get tempted on spending money at all, let me give the context you need. If you want to play a faction, you can do so with 6 pre made decks vs bots. You can also play draft for free and unlike their previous games theres no rerolling so whales dont have a advantage. Pvp otherwise is based off your collection. Both ranked and not. There is never a reason to buy anything aside from the campaigns which are sorta like simpler, non timed, battlepasses. There are daily challenges you can do for more progress, but just playing is enough. ——— It takes about 3-4 weeks to finish one if you focus it. I also normally ignore the daily challenges. And at the end you get infinite card packs. You get progress from practice, pvp, or draft. Now, for me in particular. The game is fun. I just take my decks and play practice vs bots for the most part. I rarely do pvp. You can also totally play free and just use the practice pre made decks that you cant edit. VERY IMPORTANT If you do buy a campaign, do not use your legendary wildcards to pick the cards you want immediately. You will have opened 30 packs before the end, and also get a random legendary at the end too. Get those first, then use them to make sure no duplicates.

Amazing Game
Wed Jul 16 2025 AlGoreRhythm227

I’ve played this game since its release and I can say, all things considered, it is a great game. It is getting better with time as more play styles are introduced through new factions, warlords, and balance adjustments/reworks. The meta is more diverse than ever and the gameplay is very satisfying. Contrary to many criticisms, this is NOT a P2W game. Card acquisition is far more generous than its sister game, Horus Heresy Legions (also a great game). For those that do spend some money, the premium campaign is worth it to progress your collection faster, but is by no means necessary; completing daily missions, focusing on a single campaign, and keeping an eye on daily shop is really all it takes to flesh out a competitive deck. In the meantime, draft and unranked are great game modes that won’t punish weak collections.

Was excited but seems like a cash grab
Tue Feb 06 2024 obamasouris

I was excited to see the game I’ve been super interested in the lore and have been watching other 40k related games on yt I also was super in to mtg mobile so I was excited to check it out and when I first played through the tutorial I was excited for it but I am greatly disappointed with the outcome of the gameplay. The starting deck is extremely interesting in concept with the cards main idea being behind soul stones that troops drop after death to empower other card ability’s or spell cards but in practice the moment you try and practice or go into multiplayer it’s incredibly hard to win a single match with the deck you can say it’s a skill issue but I’ve had some success in MTG and I think the skill would translate a bit and this started deck just seems to be made very poorly to encourage the purchase of packs or a whole new deck to make the game easier and more fun to play. Disappointed and I wish it wasn’t so because I was excited to play.
