I was readiNg the comments on this game before buying it. It was all positive, so I hopped on and played and now I can’t stop playing the strategy is amazing you have to find the right balance of attacking and defending. It’s hilarious how people complain in the comments the most I saw was how bad the units are and stuff lol you guys must be blind or something if you don’t see all the stuff on the unit you click and you have to have incredible awareness so you don’t lose morale from a charge. The funny part is people say that the units also run into the enemy I have not had this problem the only thing that does happen is they chase the enemy away which is good detail is saw. I hope you guys add more levels and maybe a online play that would be really fun!

It's good at first

Compared to other mobile strategy games this one is great. However a couple of missions in You see some very glaring issues. Most notably there is zero replay ability. You play the Union then Confederate campaign and your about done. Not much to play with. In the PC version you get a lot of replay ability, for example losing a battle means you can choose a scenario where you might make a holdout point. This however is very linear, absolutely no replay ability. Even if your able to get a unit down too a fifth of its original strength it's back with full strength. I suppose this can be chalked up due to limiting software on Apple. Then you have the difficulty levels, the ai is all the same, the Confederates are extremely aggressive, always charging. Union usually tries to shoot you to death. It's the complete opposite of the PC game where you can choose how the ai fights, i.e. Agressive, chaotic, cautious, etc. If you have played a level you can know exactly what the ai will do, they basically have pre set orders, at least towards the beginning of the battle. I wish I could get my money back. Hope there are more updates but game seems pretty dead. If you have a pc buy the PC version...

This game is amazing, but I think they could add something more l. It lacks the addictive side of most game, it's like yea I finished the first level and you forget about it until the next month. This happened to me. Also it needs some different battles that where important to the war, like the battle of Appomattox. I love the civil war so when I looked up a game the other month I was like wow this looks cool so I got. It is not bad for 3.99 it could use some ideas the community has and put them in the game. Some parts of the battle is fun and your like sweet I'm winning then it just turns the wrong way. I think they should help you out a little bit more on the first battle instead of the 1 min tutorial and it says good luck. The first game should teach you strategy and other stupid that would make you win and be better at the game. Over all I like this game and I'm a civil war geek and I would buy it again. I think anyone can be good at it civil war geek or not it is an amazing game.

Cannons don't work right

I heard a lot of good things about the PC version of the game but the ipad version is the 'lite' version of it apparently. Game is way more simplistic than I expected but it's still fun. My big gripe is with cannons. Every time I move them they won't shoot despite being on a hill with clear LOS. None of my troops in front of them either. They just sit and do nothing until they eventually get attacked. On the rare occasions where it does shoot it only kills 5 to 10 enemy troops which is ridiculous at close range. You can't win a game like this, especially as the Confederates, without cannons working right. .Otherwise the game is ok. May have to shell out some $ and buy the regular version on my pc since Apple decided that the presence of Confederate flag was too offensive to keep it in the app store. Maybe they should have a smiley face flag instead. Hey Apple : How about letting gamers decide what is offensive and what isn't. Just put a disclaimer in the game description saying confederate flags might upset some snowflake.

Great Game

The game is awesome. We get very few games like this due to todays sensitive society. When the developers are true to history, then they can make a game thats worth playing. Too many companies look away from what the fan wants and what the society so called “needs”. Hence why Ultimate General is a great game. Though I have had great fun at gazing through the battlefield and leading my troops into battle. 1:The first issue with the Brigades breaking so easily. Whenever im in combat with the enemy, I put my men and defenses in place in preparation for the attack. Ive noticed that whenever the men hold on too long, they falter. I dont know if its a in game problem but it has caused me to lose battles whenever a singular brigade of infantry, sometimes with over a 1000 men, decide to break. It’s frustrating having to change your entire plan whenever a large unit randomly breaks. 2:Another issue that I have is why cant the generals cavalry charge the enemy. Im used to to total war and being able to use the General to do calvary charges. Besides the issues I've listed, the game is a definite purchase and a keeper.

Like the title says, here’s the but: the Campaign is too short. The developer also chose to focus solely on every individual engagement that took place at the battle of Gettysburg.... and they executed it well. Another thing is they could’ve made the maps a little more interactive ie; I shouldn't be able to march my infantry formations over rivers, but there is a cover system and you can utilize topographical features as well. My main gripe is for $4 they could’ve added a couple of extra scenarios. Such as if you’re playing as Confederates, you could march on D.C. after You win at Gettysburg... or something of that nature. Great game, over way too soon.

On the first day of Gettysburg Buford’s troops were already in place. The curettes were on the outskirts screening the movements. The skirmish era of devin and gamble were on Herr ridge long before the confederacy arrived. The game has you set up just as your enemy arrives. The cavalry “skirmishes” have the option to charge. I hate to tell you this but cavalry never charge dismounted. There should be an option for cavalry to go from mounted to dismounted or vice versa. You have the option for artillery to go from limbered to unlimbered, why not cavalry. I have encountered issues with the union infantry. The troops on my side would have 1800 men, entrenched on the high ground. Two volley fires from the enemy then they cut tail and run. There is no option for volley fire for any side. The troops seem to attack whenever they want. My troops are slow when running but the AI moves like the flash. Overall no one seems to run out of ammunition!!!! Fix it or give me my money back

Great game

This is a great game but the problem with it is that I can have men on a point as the union on the third mission which I can not pass the reason I can not pass it is that I can have troops on a point but when the confederate charge at me and I have men on the point but then they capture it and my troops are still fighting on it and it gets captured and then when I charge at it to capture it at the end and my troops are still there but I can not capture and then I loss the battle which I should have won but I can’t because the point has been captured and I can’t beat it. But besides that the game is great and I can not wait for the new game you’ll are making
