Wonderful game, I own it on steam already but wanted to be able to play on the go. That said.... two main notes for this version: 1. Y'all are hurting your own game sales by making it "free" with an in-app purchase for the full game. No matter how much you clarify it, it's going to be misleading - you'd be better off making it full price to begin with. You should also synchronize the prices, considering it's the full game on every platform. 2. Events aren't showing up in the paper after the first incidence. I've played on PC and know the schedule, but for newcomers, that's going to be an immediate turnoff to getting deeper into the game.
Great indie game-lovely time. I even joined the official discord because I liked the game so much. But then it hit me with the “play 7.99 to continue playing”. And honestly, I have no problem with that but the devs should’ve been upfront about the payment thing from jump and it’s a little crazy to ask for that much when after a few hours of playing there’s not much else in the game that’s new or exciting. Maybe I’m being too much but I don’t think it’s fair to 1. Not be completely transparent that when you download it’s just a demo and 2. You’re paying for nothing new you haven’t experienced already from the preview—just the rest of the content which isn’t really a lot. If they had more updates like MMO, more books, more locations, more NPCS, etc I would pay (for potential) but now I’m conflicted. Maybe I’ve just been living under a rock and should’ve known better but it just seems slimy to move like that. 10/10 in the beginning—currently 4/10 now. Not really cool move.
I am enjoying this game so far and even purchased the full version. I enjoy reading the little snippets summary of each books customers liked and going through each books on my bookshelf for recommendations. I got interested to some of those books too and was delighted when I come across a book that I have read before. I wished there is a way to review all the books I’ve sold for each day because a book was sold and I got interested to actually find one for myself but I can’t remember the name of that book. Perhaps it can be a future upgrade to this game.
As someone who loves spending time at book fairs and collecting beautiful hardcover books, I absolutely fell in love with Tiny Bookshop! It is a truly successful game that perfectly captures the simulation and story genres. The attention to fine detail is amazing, and the developers have successfully delivered everything a game like this needs. I've only played up to Day 3 so far, but I loved it so much that I'm definitely buying the full version to keep playing. I know it's a new release, but I'm certain it will become a huge hit and gain the value it deserves. You have my full, heartfelt support.
Just from seeing the ratings on the app store, I thought this game wouldn’t be very fun, but after playing I really enjoyed it and I think it’s a unique idea for a game! After reading a lot of the reviews, it looks like most of the bad ones are complaining about the“Play before you pay” aspect. I’ve downloaded so many games like this for years, so I was shocked to see everyone apparently ganging up on this game for it.😧 Personally, I enjoy being able to play a trial of a paid game, so I can decide if I want to purchase it or not and $7.99 doesn’t feel like a bad price.
Edit: Sheesh these reviews about the demo. It’s because this game showed up as a game that was coming out and people pre ordered. At that point it wasn’t obvious it had a demo I guess. But there’s nothing wrong with a demo game. Please do more demos instead of tons of inapps! I’m not keeping the game because I want less story and more gameplay. But for those that like a cozy good story it’s perfect for you. Here was my original review: Unskippable tutorial that doesn’t let you play the game. Even if you put skip tutorial you’ll still get popups that block everything for you to talk to people and do stuff for them. Random old lady will stop you every other moment. I don’t care if you used to own a bookstore, if you’re gonna keep bothering me I’ll ban you from my store. Let me play the game and RUN THE STORE. I don’t care about any of their stories or their lives. I want to run the business…
This is basically me living out my fantasy of having a bookstore in this very cozy and wholesome game! I’d compare it to animal crossing or pokemon pokopia so it’s well worth the $8, and I can play it offline so I can play during my daily commute! The story is really cute, the characters are wholesome, the graphics are fun and cozy, and I love the fact that it has real books and their summaries and I can recommend books to customers that I’ve actually read in real life! Love it ❤️
I pre installed this game and over the past couple of days, I have played it very often! I love how I see books that I actually know and read, the game that is completely free of pushy purchases and ads. The game is grounded and quaint. Tiny bookshop dreams of the life I wish I could live right now, a town that is inclusive, self-sufficient and takes cares of its own. I recommend playing this game, as it can be played in short bursts and long sessions. Thank you so much to the developers! _____________________ UPDATE: $8 for a game is really high! You can repay the trial version, but, it is the only in-app purchase. _____________________ UPDATE: I loved the trial so much I purchased the full game. I love everything about this game and the quality of the animations. You can tell the developers and everybody on this team put their whole heart into this project.
