TEPPEN is arguably the most innovative card game on the App Store. By blending the strategic depth of a TCG with the frantic pace of a real-time battler, it creates an experience that feels entirely unique. Seeing legendary characters like Ryu, Jill Valentine, and Rathalos clash with cinematic animations is a dream come true for Capcom fans. It’s not just about having the best cards; it’s about your reaction speed and timing during the 'Active Response' phases.
The meta is surprisingly deep, with four distinct colors representing different playstyles. Whether you like the raw power of Red or the manipulative 'vengeance' mechanics of Black, there is a deck for everyone. The 'Hero Arts' add another layer of strategy, giving you a powerful 'ultimate move' that can turn the tide of a battle instantly. If you're tired of turn-based card games, TEPPEN is the evolution you've been waiting for.
Iconic Capcom characters and lore
Dynamic real-time card battles
Stunning 2D/3D hybrid visuals
Ranked matches and Grand Prix modes
When an Action Card is played, the game enters Active Response. Use this time to counter with your own spells to gain the 'AMP' advantage and cancel enemy effects.
Focus on a single color (Red, Green, Blue, or Black) for your first deck to ensure you have enough MP to play your high-cost units consistently.
Yes, TEPPEN features 'Chronicles' and 'Hero Stories' for single-player play and lore.
Fun game, stupid unbalanced. You’ve seen the other reviews: you just face the same cheap combos over and over and there’s not a great deal you can do about it. At a certain point, it means only specific characters with specific cards are actually viable for play. Sure, I could do it too, but the whole draw for me was “oh cool, I can play a card game as Mega Man X!” or “oh neat, I can be Dante!”, but the reality of the situation is that the vast majority of your opponents will be the same character, same cards, same combo, same inability for you to do anything about it. Got all “target friendly” spells in your hand? There’s no mulligan or discard, so you gotta forfeit. Not playing Ryu or spamming spikes with Nergigante? You already lost, don’t bother. Didn’t bring flying? You’re gonna waste a lot of time on the way to that loss. They were pretty generous with the card packs from level up and such, I only ever bought the introductory crystals for the season pass and managed to get a good spread of cards, but you can only level up so much from the missions before you’re left with two unfair missions that force you to create special decks over and over to try and overcome their grossly cheap conditions. Might wanna just come back to this one after they use the early players as game testers a bit more and save yourself the headache.
Just for some context, I’ve played magic, hearthstone, yugioh, and a few other card games on and off with my friend group and dabbled with tournament play. My first impressions of this game were strong, and the stylish hero arts, player friendly crafting system, and new updates kept me playing for a long time. It did have its problems with balance, but I am happy to say as of 4.0.5 this is the best card game I’ve ever played. The balance changes were spot on, and fixed every problem I had with the game. Ryu burn won automatically against other red decks, purple halt decks were able to run over your units without any counter play, etc. etc. This is all now addressed with this recent patch, and I will be playing this game even more than before. To top it all off, If you used these cards that got nerfed they are letting you reap these cards for full return on crafting materials. This development team deserves high praise for what they’ve done, and that’s what led me to writing this review. If you’re a new player on the fence, or an older player wondering when to return, I 100% recommend this to anybody that likes card games or capcom. Good job Dev team!
I really enjoy this game. I really do. No ptw bull! You can get card packs naturally through doing challenges or raising in the ranks in ranked mode or even just “leveling up” different heroes. However leveling up doesn’t mean you will have an unfair advantage like more health or something. Also setting this game apart is no level ups for cards! So as long as you have the card you want to play it is equal to your opponents of the same kind! What a novel concept! However there is a drawback. Temporary I hope. Three times so far when I get into a really good match that takes longer then two minutes and I was coming back from a potential loss and just as I removed my opponents last line of defense bam! Everything goes haywire. My units won’t attack. My opponent plays no cards. I disconnect and LOSE even though I had more life and was on the verge of winning. That pisses me off so bad :( it even happened to an opponent of mine who was whooping my backside. I won because he or she “disconnected”. Rage inducing I assure you. But given if they fix that or those bugs I will be happy with this game to the point it gets five stars. Oh and if you are the type who likes shelling out hundreds of dollars on card games don’t fret! Even though you can’t gain an unfair advantage you can still collect “foil” cards and even secret cards that are animated! Overall a worthy game.
Is that should something unexpected happen to your device, your account is gone. my phone suddenly crashed and looped recovery mode for some indiscernible reason causing the only fix to be to factory reset after trying everything. I contacted support and was more or less told there was nothing that could be done. which is odd because I have deleted the game and download it just fine a fee times before, so I don’t understand why this time is different but it is for whatever reason. I did everything that I was told to send a screenshot of the last purchase I made Teppen and still nothing could be done. I still remember my name. I still have the screenshot of my last purchase, but nothing could be done. That’s the only thing I can’t recommend is game for because your data is not tied to any type of login like your email or what have you it’s the app itself and once you delete it, it’s gone. In my case it is.
I give Teppen 5 stars for being the most creative and unique card playing game to ever exist. And 1 star for new player experience. It is by far my top 3 favorite games of all time. As a veteran player. I am able to get far in Teppen because of the year I started playing. I grew along side as I saw the game expand with new card sets and heroes. I created new account on a different platform for the fun of it. I am quite disappointed on the new player experience in point match and colosseum. I don’t think rank match would be any better once you get pass the bots. You barely get any new cards and the chronicle card set is terrible because of the balance changes that affected a few basic card. In my opinion basic and core should not get nerfed. Rather they should get buff as newer cards are over powered. Take epic rarity bison as an example from core, costing 10MP. Can’t blame players for being dangerously good at using basic and core cards. You nerfed Denjin so it won’t stack. When will the faith cards get nerfed to stop stacking as well. Please don’t let Teppen turn into a pay to win game I don’t think Teppen will last long if there is no way for new players to stay and veteran players to start over. Please consider this in your future updates. I look forward to see what else Teppen has in store.
I’ll make this short and sweet. Basically, this game is a blast to play, and at the moment has replaced other card games (cough HS cough). The gameplay is innovative, unique, and overall very fun to play. It took me a day or 2 to completely grasp all of the mechanics and have a full handle on everything that happens in a given match. I’d say to anyone who download this game, to give it more than a couple of minutes of your time, and if you don’t understand it immediately to keep at it and eventually it’ll all make sense. Only recommendation I have for the developers is to make the alternate/special character skins available for purchase either with in game currency (either Zeni or Gems), or just have them be straight cash. Having them be a “extra” drop from packs and not showing players the odds of getting them is not cool. I did happen to get the Demon Ryu after maybe 30 packs, but I know there are other people who have opened FAR more and haven’t recently it yet.
It’s an amazing game! I love everything about it! I’m a Hearthstone and PVZH player and I love card games because they’re so addicting! I mean, I’ve spent years building some decks for other card games. The difference between this game and the other card games that I like better is the real-time system. No waiting forever for online opponents anymore. No waiting six turns to finally be able to play a single card. It’s perfect. I also love the flavor text and the crossover stuff and the art. I secret card animations and some of the flavor text introduced me to DMC, RE, and Dino Crisis, all of which I now love. The story? I love the Ada story and how it shows how everything’s happening. I also love the card pack stories, since they are pretty dark and cool. Overall, it’s an excellent game with some great modes, like Adventure, nods to classic Capcom games, and the best combat I’ve ever seen. I myself am a practice coder who loves making simple card games. This was extremely influential. Great game.
This is a great card game and it has potential to be even greater. However, what holds this game back is the difficulty of obtaining new cards. Even the daily rewards don’t help as much, at most doing the daily rewards will only give you enough for one pack opening.(also 240 gold is a odd and high number for a pack, maybe 150 or a 100 gold is reasonable for a pack). I suggest giving everyone 3 daily goals each day, instead of 1. Login rewards need to be better as well. 10 souls for each login is abysmal. Either increase the amount of souls you get for daily logins(instead of 10 make it 50 or even 70 souls) or give us 60 gold with souls(keeping it souls at 10)for the daily login; and maybe give us a pack ticket for the last day of the week. I think introducing a more F2P environment can help this game a lot in the future. Furthermore, The Grand Prix is a good idea but it suffers the same problem which is the lackluster rewards. You need to provide incentives for people to keep playing since most people don’t have the time and money to play all day. Again, This is a great card game and it could be even greater.
