This is one of my longest running games I’ve played and am still largely active on. I would rate this a 5-star even with the seemingly low summon rates because they do have convenient events for getting good mons but I still put it as a 4 star because of the longest running problem that affects the game in the worst way. That problem is the violent runes. If you play it you will quickly come to realize they are your best friend and your pest enemy all at once. The rate at which they will screw you over will astound you. Imagine a fight starts and you are by far outclassing the other team. Two of your monsters go first and you have killed one monster easily and almost killed another. There’s only a total of three in this fight so you’re almost at a win. Now on their first turn they get three attacks in a row and suddenly you have one monster left and all because of a random chance that is supposed to be pretty rare but seems to happen quite often. Violent runes are one of the most frustrating things in this game because they really should have a cap of one activation during a turn cycle but instead they have multiple chances and having a skill based combat system that is thrown into chaos by random chance is not a good way to compare skill level of players accurately. Please god cap this and I’ll change my review to a 5 in a heartbeat but until then I will never rate this above a 4 and I even hesitantly considered giving it a 3 over this.
I’ve been playing this game for a long time, and normally I don’t have any complaints, I do like how rare mons are not handed out easily, but there is a point in which it gets rediculous, since this newest update, I have used around 10 legendary scrolls, over 1,000 stones, and 300 mystical scrolls and have gotten nothing but junk all useless mons that are duplicates at that, and I can tell you that if you spend money on the game, it does nothing to help you so don’t spend money, pay to play is a false statement, bought the $50 event pack and got nothing but junk so I wasted my money, I would like to know how I see certain summoners who seem to be able to summon nat 5 at a good rate, but others like me and my friends never seem to get them even when the chances of summoning a new Mon is “increased”. I have probably dropped over $1,000 into this game with very little return if any, that does not encourage loyalty or optimism, please make this better com2us I am on the verge of quitting the game because I have not hardly progressed in the last year, especially when I see other players with a bunch of amazing legendary Runes that seem impossible to achieve, I am one of many who feel this way, so please balance the game so those of us who seem to have no luck can one day compete with those who do. Now that I have that out of the way, I love the content, the many different quests and missions and achievements is awesome, the graphics are top notch. Only game I have played for this long. Great job.
Before anything else, if you’ve not played in a long time (say, from around or before the Assassin’s creed event), then the Quality of Life changes are insane since then. Auto 30 runs, runes no longer fail upgrading, evolving monsters doesn’t reset them to level 1, your stat towers are no longer something you have to grind—instead being tied to your level. It’s ridiculous how much more user friendly the game is, and with such a great core gameplay loop, being more user friendly is enormous. Summoners War is probably the best gacha game on mobile, and quite frankly, now that these QoL improvements are in place (and more keep coming—the day I’m writing this review, they’ve updated the game to let you save a rune set from one monster and load it on another!) it’s not really all that close. This is the one game I always end up coming back too, and I think they know it, since each time I do so, I’m inundated with rewards to help me plunge straight back into the game with no time wasted. Only complaint is that Natural 5* rates are still hilariously bad, but these days they have enough events to slightly offset this. L/D rates are not even worth mentioning. With how infrequent L/D summons are, it feels even worse on that end, though it seems the intent is to keep L/D 5* monsters very rare. 9/10. Addicting, but in a good way. Get your friends addicted too and it’s even more fun.
Been playing sw for over 800+ days I love the game. This game suits my daily life and adds so many challenges and goals to accomplish. I’m so grateful for Com2us replying to my request I never thought they would say Yes to for making a major mistake in my rune (LOL). Congrats to the Com2us for the recent 100+ Mil downloads it’s been a great journey and I’m proud to have been apart of it. I will say that even though I love this game so much it has been hard to deal with sometimes. I wanna love the game more than I do currently. For instance I see people who have been playing less as a free2play and have like 10-20 more summoned nat 5’s than I have. As someone who has played sw for so long it’s harder to say I still love the game so much than others because I don’t have the luxury of having content that others have with so many 5 star summoned units. Progression is hard but the end result always wants me to keep playing. It’s hard to see the rates when I play consisting of endless rune grinding and slow content of no new units for me to try. Still the game is great to me and will forever be. I just wish I can reach the point of endgame even from 800+ days of playing cause that’s what motivates me and keeps me playing and grinding. Still despite this Com2us you have done an amazing job and I wish the best for the route you guys take down in SW and the rest of your games. This is Ch0wt and I am glad to be apart of the Summoners War community. Btw (great animation for 100 mil) 👌🏼
For players who complains about spending but not getting good stuff, this game actually provides transcendence scroll that guarantees a nat 5. I had hard time getting good monsters as well. For the first two years in game I got about 50 nat 4 but none nat 5 at all. And then this year alone I got about 20 nat 5. If you didn’t get good stuff at first you’ll eventually get them later as long as you keep farming. By the way, even I have 20 something nat 5 now I still use those nat 4 and sigmarus for speed run on all the dungeons. Being said, you only need nat 4 to be in top 10%. This game is really more about rune quality than nat 5. However if you want to be the top 1 to 3 percent you definitely need both good runes and nat 5. My point is that this game is fair for free to play players. I didn’t spend much but three transcendence scrolls. The other nat 5 I got mostly come from mystical scrolls. I farm about 200 to 300 mystical scrolls every month by running dungeons. It is lots of time playing but hey the runs are automatic and only thing I need to do is check it once every minute while doing something else. For L&D monsters, It’s been 4 years in game and I only have three nat 4 L&D monsters. It’s really way below average but I’m still believing in the future payback. At last I found that the fake 5 stars are really frustrating and really would love to see them removed. I’d rather see a nat 4 than a fake 5. Or just make them nat 5 that’d be wonderful lol.
This is a game I always end up coming back to, it’s a very welcoming and well developed for a mobile game. The events are wonderful and seem to take into account newer players into account when they release them, so they aren’t left out of great rewards. It contains a wide variety of monsters to use and deep strategy to building the right team for each of the modes. Definitely something I would recommend at-least trying for a while before you make a decision on the game for it can take a second to really get started a get a sense of what you are doing. But afterwards you really start to take on the challenge of building a strong team and improving you monsters. There are many guilds and helpful players in the community though which is a very fascinating, because it can be very hard to Find a healthy community in games. There are a couple of negatives I find with the game and developers though, as the micro transactions are insanely expensive and you’ll get them flashed on your screen quite a bit while you navigate the menus, you can easily just click them away though. And rising in pvp ranks can be quite a hassle as there are many lvl 50 players who just sit in the lower ranks with max lvl monsters as their defense, which makes it very frustrating for newer and mid level players to climb. All in all I am very satisfied with this game and will always come back it. 😀
So I’ve started playing the game about a year and a half after launch, seeing youtubers and such playing I decided to download. I deleted it and just redownloaded it about a week ago. The game is very challenging in many aspects, with many things to do. Many complain the game is very p2w or want the nat 5 rates buffed, but just because you don’t have a nat 5 doesn’t mean you can’t get good monsters. Most people just don’t want to farm or want the easy way out. The game is definitely one you need to strategize more as you get to higher tiers, but most don’t have the intellect for it and just want to plow through with power/ speed. And once you start the game it’s very f2w, just as you level on and progress into late game many start investing money so players in that caliber feel as they have to do so too. But that isn’t the case, all you need to do is farm. There’s always events to do and that’s a really big plus for me, I barely pay for mobile games but I felt the need to support this company. Only pack that I see really worth the money is the growth pack, everything else is more meh. The only things I’d have adjusted is the matchmaking system in arena, to get rid of ghost accounts, and to buff the rates for 5* and 6* runes in gb8/9, I’m still really only getting four star runes from them (but I also just have bad luck). Other than that my favorite game :)
I recently looked at my own profile and I’ve been playing this game since June 2014. So this game is fun it amusing and you can have a great time playing for how ever long you want because believe me with as much as you can strive to get it won’t end and you will be better or worse than someone else or just play computer grind forever. However if you take this game at all serious and if you even try to pay occasionally you won’t really make a great difference. Put it this way me and my brother have played this game since 2014 and occasionally put in some money about $100 a year since we play it more than some store bought game but $400 down the road we are average players. To the point this game isn’t free to play, pay to play it’s for those who spend above hundreds maybe thousands. The players who are above average complete things faster and get more prizes basically the more you play you can do good but those in the top 10 % they just get more and more because they do so well especially in new content like the labyrinth that no one can beat. You can save up on this game for months I saved for five months and spent money got nothing. I’m about to rage quit but I’ve spent more than a game system over time. Just look at the world tournaments this game has online mist of the people could have bought houses for what they say they put into this game and announcers seem to take pride in this during the tournaments
