Surprisingly solid

The start of it is pretty slow, but it does start to pick up. It kind of reminds me of Titan Quest 1. If you’re looking for an ARPG on your phone then this is a good option. Definitely worth giving it a try. Maybe I’ve missed it, but there’s no storage chest to store extra gear you find which is frustrating. Gold drops, but it’s super low. Also leveling is pretty slow especially in the beginning. Hope the devs continue to support and build on this since they’ve got some good here.

Slow but passible

I started as a caster class, even bought the wand upgrade and a little pet frog to support the game as I loved anima. I am finding progression quite slow. I also have been playing ARPG since Diablo one and like a slower pace, but this is a little bit too slow. I always try to make a summoner on my first go and you have to be at least level 12 to begin to get there in this game. The game played while not exactly challenging is monotonous with only three abilities to use. I don’t feel particularly powerful but I also don’t feel like the game is difficult. It’s just a slog. The technical side, however, works great, no bugs and everything runs smoothly. They need to focus on creating fun gameplay. I will try a while longer, but finding the will to go on will be tough.

What you’re looking for.

I’m a real person, human and flesh and stuff. This game is really good if ur looking for cool weapons and abilities to grind for and not just easily get. At the start they give you a bunch of boxes with really good loot but you have to level up to get them. The combat is pretty good and engaging, i’ve been glued for about couple hours now. The leveling system is pretty slow, but so far in my 6-7 hours of playing it does not seem pay to win. The monsters and creatures are unique and different every level which is cool. Hope to see more great things as i continue playing.

Play Anima instead

Played 1.5 hours and found the same mechanics (apart from a 3rd specialization), the same assets, and the same UI. The only plus was better graphics but the view was more top down and the maps so much more linear somehow. I found myself exploring only to find absolutely no creeps or chests, and most of the loot for classes I wasn’t even playing. When I did find the right loot, it sucked. But don’t worry, you have the chance to buy everything! One of the major differences is the presence of a story, if you can call it that. It was all just “hey, meet me here and we’ll go somewhere else after that”. No more level selections but you have waypoints between zones so it’s effectively the same thing but a lot more inconvenient.

Fun but poor scaling

I think the foundation is there and it’s really fun and enjoyable, but my problems stems from the scaling. So right off the bat I was having trouble killing enemies, getting killed easily and every single piece of gear dropping was several levels above what I could equip which made it even harder to fight enemies and gain Xp. All of the gear dropping was also the exact same, so nothing really felt unique and I hate the durability system because I found myself running out of weapons to use because nothing would drop and I would keep dying because there was nowhere to repair my gear and no gear was dropping that I could use.

None of what makes ARPGs fun

It’s just… not good. I tried to like this one, I really did. I put about 8 hours into it and tried 2 different classes as well as respecced those classes into several different specializations and it’s unbelievable how the skills are just exactly the same. Anything I thought could be fun combining played EXACTLY like a completely different set of skills/class. You just auto attack and wait for your incredibly slow mana to regen, all to use a skill that maybe kills 1-2 enemies while 20 surround you. You move incredibly slow, the maps are horrendously big for how repetitive and boring it is, and there are literally NO GEAR DROPS. You took all of the dopamine from ARPGs and forgot to put it into the game.

I’m disappointed.

There’s nothing interesting in this game. What’s new compared to Anima? They couldn’t even come up with a final boss and just copied it from Anima. Besides the graphics, there’s nothing — it’s slow, there’s no thrill from smashing through a big group of mobs. No interesting boss mechanics, no engaging builds. You can’t even transfer an item’s upgrade to another one. So what’s the point of upgrading it? I played Anima a lot and thought the developers could make Oniro even better. But in the end, they just updated the graphics and slowed down the gameplay with energy limits. Bravo. I’m disappointed.

A well put-together aRPG.

I’ve been playing Oniro since it released and although I have limited time to play, i am loving every second of it. The best part about it is that there are no pay walls, you can loot and game to your heart’s desire and reach max level and end-game gear without paying a dime. I know that the developers have a lot of stuff up their sleeves for this game as well, and you can tell that a lot of time and effort was put into the development of this game. Overall, 5/5 stars from me!
