NikNax is a wonderful trip down memory lane for anyone who grew up with an Amiga or a Commodore 64. It’s a classic brick-breaker through and through, but it’s executed with such specific retro flair that it stands out from the crowded App Store. The pixel art and the 'crunchy' sound effects are exactly what you'd expect from a 90s arcade hit.
The level design is where the game shows its teeth. It starts off easy, but quickly introduces complex patterns and bosses that require real precision. The power-ups are varied and fun—getting the laser paddle is always a highlight. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel; it just polishes the wheel until it shines. If you want a straightforward, satisfying arcade experience that feels like it was unearthed from a 1992 floppy disk, NikNax is it.

Slide your finger at the bottom of the screen to move the paddle. Keep the ball in play by hitting it back toward the blocks.

When a block is destroyed, it may drop an icon. Catch these with your paddle to gain abilities like the 'Wide Paddle' or 'Multi-Ball'.

Bug—can’t progress
Tue Sep 02 2025 Dingbat 14As others have said, once you reach the boss, either the bricks don’t consistently generate or they are perhaps generating too far off-screen to be hit. So, unfortunately that prevents you from progressing. Nice visuals, though. An attractive game. Also, smooth controls.

Stuck on boss.
Tue Aug 26 2025 SjjfneismxmWhen I get to the boss one of the bricks if off the screen and cannot be seen or hit. I can hit the first couple bricks that have the red blinking light that hits the boss are visible but after it blows up once and hit all the bricks there is one that I can’t hit or see until I run out of lives I can see the brick come from the right side off the screen.
