MOTU Skeletor: Until Next Time

MOTU Skeletor: Until Next Time is an absolute blast of pure, unadulterated nostalgia wrapped in a beautifully polished endless runner. Playing an endless runner from the perspective of the main villain is a fantastic concept, and Mattel absolutely nails the execution here. Sprinting through Snake Mountain as Skeletor feels incredibly empowering, especially when you gather enough villain energy to unleash raw sorcery or summon Panthor to completely plow through traps and obstacles. The game strikes a wonderful balance between easy-to-learn swipe mechanics and punishingly fast gameplay that scales up in intensity the further you survive across Eternia.

Visually, the game is a beautiful love letter to the classic era of Masters of the Universe, implementing a vibrant retro aesthetic that feels incredibly stylized without sacrificing fluid, modern frame rates. The level design keeps things refreshing, tossing you out of standard corridors and dropping you straight into treacherous lava caverns that demand rapid, split-second reflexes. Unlocking additional heroes and villains gives you plenty of incentives to keep launching into another run, as each character introduces distinct abilities that noticeably alter how you approach high-score chasing. While it hits familiar endless runner beats, its incredible charm, crisp presentation, and rewarding upgrade paths make it an incredibly hard game to put down.
