I’ve been a huge fan of GMA1 for years! After quickly, double diamonding all the mountains, getting a 25,410 top trick, and pounding XL Park world until I got number six global, I was ready for something fresh. GMA2 did not disappoint! Everything about it has been improved! From huge additions, like zip lining, waterwinches, and the incredible paraglider to small ones like more realistic airtime and a quicker and more responsive Monty! I have had a wonderful time double diamond in all the challenges, looking for transitions and ski passes, and gapping and conquering lifts, but now I 100% completed all mountains and I’m looking forward to more! The new tricks and Park features you’ve added are fantastic as well! Some features I think would be sick are being able to free paraglide on all the mountains, not just Fiedeljoch and Col De Ghironda. Maybe even be able to purchase your own with 50,000 credits? A huge Norwegian mountain with lots of powder and terrain parks would take to another level as well. If you three brothers ever make another game I hope it’ll be a mountain biking one! Also the demo pictures of the game on the App Store have some insane skis that are not available in the game. Maybe on the next mountain? Keep up the good work guys, and thanks! -SHREDDER
If you’ve ever played Grand Mountain adventure before, you’re familiar with the formula. Essentially you ski (or snowboard) around a mountain, collecting ski passes and doing challenges until you unlock the next mountain. It seems like a simple game but it’s consistently engaging and fun. It is easily beatable for less skilled players and also reserves hardcore Double Black Diamond challenges for experienced players. Another neat addition in this installment are the new powerup challenges. Some challenges equip you with super fast skis, others give you parachutes, and some give you a double jump. It adds a fun twist to the otherwise somewhat repetitive gameplay. My personal favorite feature in this installment is the added customization options. Completing certain challenges on mountains, like getting all black diamond medals, unlocks separate articles of clothing and apparel to customize your character with, which is a big step up from the last games full body suits. Summary: GMA 2 is a true return to form that adds satisfying QoL features and interesting new mechanics to the core gameplay loop of the original. If you are willing to pay 8 dollars, this game is an absolute blast to play and master.
I was extremely excited for the release of this new game by Toppluva and it completely met my expectations! There are wonderful new aspects in this game including a winch pull that leads to even more features such waterskiing and skateboarding. I also love the new paragliding feature as well ,which gives you great views of each detailed mountain. I believe the physics of this version are a bit more realistic as well. Skiing with the avatar feels more natural as he doesn’t jump as high when hitting little bumps and tends to have less air time in general even when hitting big jumps at a park. I also really like the new addition of the press, helping me max my multipliers out in the park. That’s just another feature that adds to the realness, as I love park irl. The addition of the cork is also another great aspect. When skiing through a park with out going through the challenge gates, I’d love to see other NPC’s shreddin the gnar in the park making the game look even more real, maybe some more in game interactions with NPC’s as well. Can’t wait for new mountains, this game rules!🤙🤙
This game at first is a bit disorienting and even a bit boring.. but the game really builds itself as you play, unlocking new mountains and discovering spots to ski. The camera isn’t perfect, and sometimes you wish you could see from an angle that take a bit of work to get. The camera is definitely manageable as is, but I sort of wish I could get a tiny bit more of an angle upwards sometimes.. because zoom distance to me isn’t really enough haha! The games atmosphere is really great, and I personally enjoy my sessions with the locals. At some points I got stuck because there was nothing to do, but you just have to look around a bit and collect some passes. I got stuck specifically on the third mountain lol. You start unlocking zip lines and whatnot but the quests were slow to appear.. I had no idea I had to jump on a locals trampoline in their backyard, to collect a ski pass for more quests to pop up. Super fun for the phone in all honesty.
First of all, a massive thank you to the Toppluva team! (And as far as I know you’re a small family business? That’s wonderful!) Though I must say I am somewhat disappointed that GMA2 feels more “arcade-like” and less “realistic” (for lack of a better word) than its predecessor, I can tell it took an immense amount of hard work and creativity to make and I’m grateful for it. Plus, there are elements I’m really enjoying, namely how smooth the powder feels and the new parachute-skiing challenges. So fun! It would be AWESOME to have the parachute feature in free roam (i.e. not connected to a challenge). Or maybe it is already? I haven’t unlocked all the items yet on the first mountain… Also, if it’s feasible, PLEASE consider bringing back the flowmeter! That was my favorite feature of the previous game; most of the time, I’d simple free-ski the mountains attempting to beat my previous record. I found it very relaxing and not as stressful as grinding challenges over and over… Thank you all again, and I look forward to further exploring GMA2 and seeing how the game progresses. Cheers!
Growing up in the 90’s, one of the best games we had was on pc called ski free. I played this game endlessly while not paying attention in class. It was basically a little ski guy zooming down a mountain and eventually getting eaten by an abominable snow man. It was a top/bottom scrolling 2d game but it would make you laugh as you zoomed along. Over the years I’ve thought to myself, how has no one revisited that idea and made it better? Apparently someone did. And they made a great game! As a skier myself, I find that this game makes me think of the slopes I ski and some of the cool stuff I get to see. The graphics of this game are awesome and one of my favorite little add ins is the telescope at the top of the mountain. What beautiful scenery! So much time and thought put into this game. All the little details are wonderful. Definitely recommend this one guys! And wear you headphones for a fully immersive experience! Play this game. You won’t regret it!
I have been very excited for this new game and I love the original. In terms of new content, Grand Mountain Adventure 2 is full to the brim of exciting new challenges to explore, which you can taste even before you purchase the full game. However, the new game lacks the simple beauty of its predecessor, and has replaced its formerly direct skiing/riding physics to make the skiing/riding feel smoother on downhill stretches, at the sacrifice of direct movement and versatile mobility. This shows up during uphill climbs to reach new areas and backcountry, and when it is necessary to make precise maneuvers over/around precipices and ledges. The minimalistic charm of the first game has been replaced with a much more realistic animation style. This results in immersive play, but also makes objects like course gates and lines harder to see. While exploring the new challenges and course types is very enjoyable for new or experienced players, it is less enjoyable to ski/ride around the mountain, especially for those used to the mobility of the original game. Enjoy the new game! And support the developers!
I have enjoyed the original Grand Mountain Adventure since it came out. It is a blast to play. The game play in GM2 is nothing like that in the original. The skier is not nearly as natural to control. Earning ski passes is a nightmare. Why waste our time with those little conveyor “lifts”? And what happened to being able to climb up hill in skis? Now you sit in place and can’t go up if it is the slightest bit steep. The realism in the first incarnation was stunning. Now the flips and spins are slow as molasses. You can barely get in a 360 in the new version. Some of the challenges take you out of sight under a bridge so you can’t see the markers. It is not at all worth the high price. If I could get my money back I would. I don’t get how a game created years after the original could be technically less capable than the original. I am on the second mountain, found the telescope, then it disappeared from my backpack. I need to find it AGAIN? What the heck? I hope a revision is coming. If not I am deleting the game.
