Code Busters is an outstanding puzzle game that will appeal immensely to fans of crosswords, logic games, and linguistics. It focuses entirely on intellectual satisfaction rather than flashy arcade graphics. Deciphering a lengthy, complex philosophical quote starting from a jumble of random letters feels deeply rewarding.
The UI is exceptionally clean, which is critical for a text-heavy puzzle game where you spend minutes staring at the exact same screen. The progression path scales smoothly, offering a comfortable introduction for beginners before ramping up into massive sentences that require serious logical deduction. It is brilliant mental exercise wrapped in a premium package.
Thousands of thought-provoking historical quotes and modern phrases to decode
Intelligent hint systems that reveal single letters without spoiling the puzzle
Clean, distraction-free minimalist interface designed for reading focus
Daily brain-teaser challenges with progressive difficulty scaling
Always begin a puzzle by identifying single-letter words, which are almost universally 'A' or 'I'. From there, search for common three-letter combinations like 'THE' or repeating double-letter patterns to jumpstart your decryption process.
Tap an encrypted letter on the puzzle board and type your guessed character. The game automatically updates all instances of that letter across the entire phrase, revealing contextual spelling clues in real time.
The game will highlight incorrect letter placements in red if you toggle the error-checking mode in the settings menu.
I really enjoy playing this game. I would give it five stars if it weren’t for the issues with intermittent ‘pauses’. It doesn’t always insert the selected letter immediately, but hesitates for about three seconds, then moves to a different spot. If you don’t realize what’s happening and you tap a letter, you get an error and use a mistake. Also, it would be nice to have something to explain the heart icons. At the top there is one with a 3 and says “full”.. but full of…. Then the other is a ‘prize’ with an infinity symbol in it, not sure what it indicates.
So far I like this game. I feel like I would play more but the mechanics have room to grow. Currently, when you figure out what number that corresponds with a Letter you have to tap on the number then you tap on the corresponding letter in keyboard, then you have to tap on the next place you find a number and then tap on the letter in keyboard and keep doing so for every place that the letter would go. Im sure some will think its silly to complain about this but after a bunch of levels you start to find it redundant My suggestion would be making it possible to double tap the letter and then just double tap the place the letter needs to go for every place in the puzzle Also the letters in the keyboard can be enlarged but the numbers that corresponds the letter is super small
I have never had an app freeze and crash as much as this one. It’s so frustrating because I love the game (which is the only reason I didn’t give it 1 star) but I have never played a single game without it freezing multiple times—often causing me to lose the game when it catches up & types more than one character at a time. If I have to leave the app for more than a couple of sends, I like every other app with this game that I’ve used, it won’t save your progress. You have to start all over. Also, if you accidentally click to give yourself a hint you can’t X out of it, and if you strike out, you can’t just watch an ad to refresh. So, so disappointed!
The only issue I have is I get an X even when I know it’s the correct letter idk if it’s a glitch in the game but it’s happen to me 5 or 6 times and it’s frustrating. 9.3.25 - adding to my review! This game lags so when you hit the letter thinking it didn’t register it the first time, it’s already giving you the wrong. It’s not fair your game is lagging! Another issues if I switch to another app real quick it closes my game I had almost completed and makes me lose a life
I was playing a different game and kept seeing an ad for this game. I like cryptograms and the ad for this was different, it appeared to have some sort of story line. It doesn’t. I have been playing for a few days and while it’s a decent cryptogram game none of the levels I have played are anything like the ads. I can’t stand it when games do this. I deleting the game because of the deceptive practices used. Game developers stop advertising a game you don’t have. Bottom line: it’s a decent cryptogram, nothing special
I have only played this game for a few weeks now. Because I only played this game on my down time or when I have a break at work I would close out the game. Every time I do close the game out it takes one of my lives and erases all the letters that I have already found. This has happened so often that I had to resort to taking screenshots of the game so that I can duplicate what letters have already been found. So annoying that’s why I’m deleting this game after this post.
I totally love this game but the fact that I can no longer do the daily cryptograms is frustrating. I updated my phone to the new iPhone 17 and the new iOS update to 26.4 and can no longer play the daily cryptograms. I get just a blank page and if I close the game and reopen it, I lose a life. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and had to start from lvl 1 again, this was frustrating as well. Please look into this, not sure if any others are having the same issue or not.
After seeing this game and playing with a friend I finally downloaded it. I love it. I play before going to bed and free time at work 😅 my issues are the glitching when we’re choosing a letter sometimes. Sometimes it puts the letter and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes if you hit it again without realizing it’s glitching you use a “mistake” then my app is either crashing or refreshing so I have to restart a puzzle. And I was one letter away from finishing level 100 when it crashed.
