Zen Koi 2 is a relaxing simulation game that builds on the original's core loop of breeding and collecting koi fish. Players navigate their koi through soothing waters, consuming smaller prey to grow and level up. The ultimate goal is to ascend the koi into dragons, which then enter the astral 'Dragon Realm.' In this sequel, players can also customize 'My Pond,' creating a personalized underwater Zen garden with rocks, plants, and seasonal effects.

Our Expert Score

82/100

Zen Koi 2 is a masterclass in iterative sequels, taking everything that made the original peaceful and expanding it without losing its soul. The core loop of swimming, eating, and breeding remains incredibly satisfying. There is something profoundly relaxing about watching your koi glide through the water, leaving a soft ripple behind. The addition of the Dragon Realm is a stroke of genius, giving players a long-term goal that feels earned and visually spectacular.

The breeding mechanics are deeper than they appear, with hundreds of patterns and color combinations to discover. It’s essentially a collection game at heart, but one that respects the player's time. The 'My Pond' feature allows for a level of personalization that was sorely missing from the first game, letting you create a truly unique sanctuary. While it can be a bit slow for players seeking action, for anyone looking for a digital escape, this is a top-tier simulation.

Fun, Relaxing, and EASY! 🤩

I normally don’t write reviews, but this time it seemed worth it. Straight to the point, I love this game. I’ve only been playing a couple days but it’s seriously awesome. It’s simple, user friendly, and very basic. It doesn’t slowly get harder like most games which is really nice, and my god it is SO relaxing!! I downloaded this game in the middle of an anxiety attack because I wanted to have an app to help myself relax and I just so happened to come across this game. Within about 10 minutes of playing, my anxiety had significantly reduced. On top of that, the gameplay is super easy and fun, and VERY addicting. But the nice thing is that you can hop on whenever. It’s not like you have to start anything that takes very long so even if you can only play 5 minutes, you can still make a decent amount of progress. I absolutely LOVE this game and recommend it for anyone. Wether you want a simple, fun game to play; you struggle with anxiety and want something to help you calm; or even if you have little ones. I’m sure they would love this game too. It’s super simple and easy, and you don’t even need to evolve your koi into dragons to still have fun. Swimming around and eating prey by itself is strangely satisfying and relaxing. Anyways, highly recommend this game and if you read this whole thing, thanks 🙏🏽. I hope it helped.

PLAY THIS GAME Y’ALL!!!

Honestly this game is AMAZING, there are many and cool fish, and the process of the fish becoming a dragon (or something?) is kinda long but very satisfying! I’d suggest you play this, Y’know give it a try, see what you think cuz I LOVE THIS GAME, I even have a book of the games that I would suggest to my friends (which is REALLY rare) and this is number two and number one is Zen Koi classic, because they are both good, I really like this game, and the developer would give you fish (idk) and I did get one so THANK YOUUUUUU!!!!! Anyway I had six cups of coffee so like… YEAH, anyway this game is fun, and it does help you relax, idk if it needs wifi or not (SORRY) and I hope Y’all read this, and do end up trying the game, (:D) and me and my friends play this game, and we both like it! Plus if you don’t like this game then you are not a alpha rizzler 67 (IDK IM HYPERRRRRRR) 😏😏😏😏😏😏😏😏 Edit: Also developer, may I PLEASE have a black and white (or just black or just white) fish? Idk if this is asking a lot, sorry, IT WAS A DARE, but PLEASEEEEE? Thanks! I am really astonished at how GREAT this game is, I really like it, so if you can’t get me a fishy then just a plain response works for meeeeeeeee 😈😈😈💅💅💅✨✨✨🙂🙂🙂🙂

Game lost that I Spent Hundreds of Dollars On
Tue Jul 05 2022 ArisStryker

I’ve been a huge fan of this game for years and had a ton of limited edition koi patterns in my pond that I bought. I’ve even kept up with their Facebook page and been on the discord site for this game. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on decorations and koi pond expansion packs and I lost everything I had. I upgraded iPhones and even though I followed the syncing process nothing saved. My account is still there with all of the money I spent I just can’t play it and customer support won’t let me into it. Let me rephrase this customer support is terrible. I have been dealing with customer support for over a week straight. The emailed customer support team eventually gave up and said that I needed to contact direct in game support so I did. I gave them screenshots of my receipt/purchases straight from my Apple ID account into a google drive for them to view as they requested and then they said it wasn’t detailed enough information. I’m sure if I asked for a refund of all of my hard earned money then they would actually care and get me back into my account. I basically have to start the game all over and there is no restore purchases button on this app like other games which is a little shady to begin with. I’m very upset and just want to warn everyone that even if you sync your phone to your Facebook page and apple account there is no guarantee that your progress will be saved and the money you’ve spent sure as heck won’t be saved either.

I have been playing zen koi 2 for about six months now. I’m pretty sure I’ve checked in daily almost everyday. It is both relaxing and interesting. The fish are pretty and I try to understand the meanings behind the names which is interesting too. I am working on completing collections. I love the special event fish that are introduced at different times. What I really appreciate the most about this game is that you can play all day if you want and still have lots to do, or you can just check in. The really important thing I love about this game is that the difficulty level has not significantly changed as I played. Maybe I’m a bit of a baby but if a game ramps up and gets very difficult, I will stop playing. I don’t always want to stop but I’m not great at games. I just want to play. So I really like this game because I can continue to enjoy it. I would say it is in my top 5 of all video and phone games. Thank you to landshark!

Really enjoy this game but...

As the title suggest, I really love this game a lot. It’s been my go-to game to help me calm down when I’m really worried with something or just can’t relax. That being said, there’s a bit of a weird glitch with the dragons. Some of the dragons will look normal, but the other dragons all have their heads, arms and eyelids separated from their body. It’s a funny glitch but it’s a bit triggering to see that they’re not complete. Is there a chance you developers could fix this? If so, thanks. Really do love this game a lot, so it still gets five stars from me, but would like to see it fixed if possible. Thanks, Landshark! Edit: You guys fixed the glitch! Thanks!!! Edit 10/27: I had to switch phones and, after restoring from a backup, discovered I lost my entire collection. I have no idea if there’s even a chance I can get it back. I really don’t want to have to start over again. Any help would be welcome. Edit 10/31: I got my collection back!!! The amount of relief is just massive… support team, thank you so much!

I originally was playing zen koi 1 and was obsessed with it and then they came out with zen koi 2 and I fell in Love! Especially with the playable dragons! I’m so addicted to this game I even got some family and friends to start playing it with me. I find it really easy to get pearls and I love all the patterns. I do wish you’d add new and different prey to eat though, That’s really the only new thing I’d love even more. I can’t get enough of this game. It’s really a great step up from the first one. I love that the new update has the mates on it instead of needing to click the egg!!! It’s a great add in! I really hope you can make it so the prey change or add more prey. I also think it would be cool if some fish could ascend faster than others sometimes? Like maybe some only need to expand the pond three times, or four instead of 8 all the time! I think that would be super cool!! Also maybe if the dragon had to make a certain pattern instead of just making some crazy one on your own, like being lead to the stars you have to do first and creating different patterns the actually look good and cool! Thank you.

When I first got this game, it was very relaxing. Nice game that helps you unwind when you’ve had a tough day. HOWEVER, when I discovered that those little green things that look like parasites can latch onto you and other prey, it was so disgusting for me to look at that I ended up putting all my effort into avoiding them instead of collecting koi. Please make it so in the settings you can stop them(and other “parasites”) from attaching themselves to anything. Also, you should be able to do more stuff with dragons. A few ideas are: have a dragon pond(without prey) where the dragons can swim, and maybe injured koi will swim up to you and you can heal them; a sky that you can look up at and have your dragon draw stars and constellations in it; and maybe a NPC dragon you can go visit and trade stuff for pearls or koi, and every day he or she would have new trades. Sorry about the long review but great game! I would really, really, REALLY appreciate it if something were done about the “parasites” though. Have a great day!

Love this game

This is a nice and relaxing game, but it’s also a challenge to complete your collections and exciting getting new patterns. I have two recommendations; On the egg list please put the mates on it. Yes once you click on the egg you can see who the mates were and all the info on it which is really nice; excellent job with that, but if you could see just the mates on the egg list page also then you wouldn’t have to keep opening each egg page to see which ones you have and decide which one you want the currently hatch. Also it would be nice if the pond would change sometimes to different prey and or plants. The different challenges of each prey currently in the sets is a nice touch and I do enjoy that. However, once you’ve already played with multiple koi through to ascension the game can start getting a little boring doing the same series of prey over and over again. Changing it up sometimes would help. I really enjoy the wide variety of koi patterns and colors. After a while that’s what the game really becomes for me. Completing collections and starting new ones, of which you have done an excellent job of. I especially enjoy the different holiday patterns and background pictures you provide. I also love the fact that you can gift koi that you don’t need, very nice. Overall you all did a great job creating this game and I really enjoy it. Thank you
