Easy and fun to play

I love how this game looks. Upfront and inside, the app is pretty attractive. There are VERY few ads that pop up while you’re playing, but the best part about them is that they’re skippable and short too. The ads also don’t pop up that much. If you’re still getting the hang of Cribbage like me, you’ll find that the detailed and automatic counting of the cards to be of immense help. Anyways, I just download the app for Cribbage so I don’t care for that much of the other games available only with Cribbage Club. I especially love how this game can still be functional and enjoyable without paying for Cribbage Club. It shows to how the game isn’t pay-to-play. I wish it was faster to rank up in Cribbage, but that isn’t a huge problem because it’s still fun to play nonetheless. If you’re competitive, however, you might find yourself getting bored of your progress in Cribbage among the other games available. I’m pretty sure that the games aren’t live, so I think it would be super fun and a great challenge if they were.

I have cribbaged for many years and tried a couple of cribbaging apps. The cribbage in this cribbage app is the cribbagiest. Some apps rely on a variety of cribbages but this one seems to use a cribbage rank system. My cribbage review is early in my cribbage rank, so I can’t comment on top level cribbaging. But the cribbage speed is good and the cribbage score is cribbagy enough for me. I do wish the cribbage cards and cribbage board were a bit bigger.. make better use of the cribbagespace. But that’s a minor complaint in the bigger cribbage picture. Added later: I still play this all the time. Great game. I like how you can collect medals, xp, crowns, and coins. After a certain amount of time, none of those really do anything at all, but you know… collecting stuff is fun. For example, to progress from the Diamond level to the Plutonium level you literally need to complete around 300 challenges. You can also pay your way by using around 4000 coins. But since I get about 1 challenge completed in a week and earn about 10 coins, I have given up any hope of moving to the next level. Fortunately, the levels are also pretty meaningless and so you’re left with a solid cribbage game that is totally fine without all the other stuff layered on top.

Stole my platinum

For the most part, the game works well and who ever made it should be proud of their accomplishment. I like the game, obviously, or I wouldn't be playing it. I think the designers should understand that some of the players will never gamble, and at some point, stop asking. It is a annoying waste if time. Some of the challenges take too long. It had one glitch with me, when I completed the platinum level, it returned me to the beginning of platinum again, instead of moving on to the next level. Very disappointing! If it happens again, I won't continue playing the game! I have to say, I’m disappointed I received no response to my first review, but with that said, the games just seem to go on indefinitely, so I guess I’ve just resigned to keep on playing like there aren’t any levels to it. The only thing I have ascertained is that the computer doesn’t allow as many counting mistakes to mug the further I play on.

Polished game, frustrating gimmicks

I love playing cribbage and have downloaded this app a few times off and on over the years. It includes some really interesting mechanics, like the daily challenges and level-up mechanics. The power ups are a nice option too, though i typically avoid using them. I am also pretty impressed with the overall polish of the game. It definitely plays like a well-designed experience. However, there is no doubt that, at some point in the difficulty scaling, the computer just starts to get better hands instead of playing better cribbage. I noticed this particularly during the Platinum levels, where the computer seemed like they averaged 12 points a hand. It started to seem like the only way to offset their ability to always have great cards was to use the power ups, which isn’t the game of cribbage I wanted to play in the first place. It felt like I went from playing cribbage to watching ads so I could watch the cribbage cards I bought beat the cribbage cards the computer gave itself.

Update: I found a MUCH better game now. Download “Cribbage JD”. You’ll be much much happier. What a terrible app. I’ve been happily playing a different cribbage app by this company - online, great interface, wonderful app- for YEARS. Today I discovered I was forced to download THIS game when I tried to open both of the other apps I’ve used from them. Whenever I open the app I normally use, this superimposed over it, saying I’m required to download this app because the other version is old and no longer supported. This is TERRIBLE. The design is awful, you have to use more keystrokes for many moves, there’s NO way to play other real players. It also looks like this one is subscription? When were you going to tell me about that?!?! I wasn’t warned when I downloaded it. I might consider it but I CAN NO LONGER play in real time with other players!!!!!! If you’re going to bait and switch, for gods sake at least have them be comparable apps!!! Instead you made me discover it all on my own after having to do your signup song and dance. Dumb stunt, horrible strategy for customer retention.

Fun for a short while

The game is well made and it’s fun for about a week or so. After that I had reached a high enough level that the difficulty level cranked up. Most games increase the difficulty by increasing the AI skill level. Unfortunately this one does it by stacking your opponents hands. At this point my opponent has double run after double run, every hand is huge. That’s no fun even when they give me a huge hand now and then to compensate. The developers will tell you it’s random but if you know anything about odds and probability then you know better. Also if your opponent needs 15-25 pts to win a game, rest assured they will get it. I’ve also noticed the AI pegging tendencies change according to what YOU have in your hand. That can only mean your opponent is ‘peeking’ at your hand. All this is fond to try to get you to purchase power ups to compete. Instead it’s making me delete the app. Give me a fair cribbage game and I’ll play forever. Give me this one and I’ll gladly bail after 3 weeks. Giving two stars because the first week was fun.

LOVE IT, BUT…

I love playing cribbage. After years of not playing, found this app and love playing it. I don’t do the extra foo foo stuff attached. I play straight up the way we played it with cards. But lately have become very sick of the ads on this app. Most are short interruptions and I move on. So a couple of real sticking point. First, playing the same add over & over repeatedly is uncalled for & unnecessary. I am aging this is just to say you put it out there 8 million times for each person to see. But lately, one ad called Home Scape comes up. I will not move on. When it finally gives you the little X, if you hit it, it goes back to previous page, then X, then back page, then X, then back page…. I just finally gave up trying to play. Same reason I gave up on Words with Friends after all these years. See an ad is one thing, watching it in loops it won’t move out of, makes the game a whole lot less fun.

Ads ads ads without option to remove

This game has a great interface and playability, but the incessant ads make it frustrating and miserable to play. I understand they claim “ads keep the game free” but there are plenty of other applications relying on ads that are manageable and not overwhelmingly popping up long ads every other hand. They claim to offer an option to “remove ads for $2.99” in the app description, but this is not a function available in the application. I emailed them directly about this glitch and my desire to continue playing the game if they could offer a paid option to remove ads as advertised. I still have received no response to date. This game is great if you don’t mind spending just as much time waiting through ads as you do playing the actual game. But if you’re like me and would be willing to pay a small fee to ease the frustration of attempting to click through excessive ads, don’t do it. They don’t offer the option and customer service doesn’t exist.
