Two Spies is a turn-based strategy game for two players. It's played on a map of Europe where players must balance 'Intel' and 'Control'. You stay hidden until you strike, but every move gives your opponent clues about your location. It’s a tense game of cat-and-mouse that favors logic and bluffing over brute force.

92/100

Two Spies is a rare gem in the mobile strategy genre. It strips away the 'pay-to-win' mechanics and bloat found in most modern games, leaving behind a pure, crystalline experience of psychological warfare. The art style is gorgeous—reminiscent of 1960s Cold War graphic design—and the sound design perfectly captures the tension of a rainy European street corner.

The gameplay loop is deceptively simple: move, gain intel, or strike. However, because your opponent is hidden, every move becomes a question. Did they just move into London, or are they waiting for me to reveal myself? The inclusion of a bot mode is great for learning the maps, but the real magic happens in 1v1 online matches. It’s one of the few games where losing feels just as exciting as winning because you get to see the 'replay' of where your opponent actually was the whole time.

Two spies has potential outside of just its title. With some work on its algorithm, I feel it could become a multispy game with a few alterations - this suggestion is a little bit dicey though since it could turn into too much of a game like the war board game. However, it could be a really amazing addition as a separate game mode. The pins look cool, but if you want to market it it better then you would perhaps want to add tournaments or so on and create limited edition pins? Being able to add friends in this game would also be a HUGE bonus. I’ve played some tough games, and I found myself really enjoying playing against some people. If we were allowed to add them somehow and enable chat for friends, I feel the experience could be that much better (I.e. friend request after meeting a random in a game, enable chat with person in a separate area to converse. I feel this option could be really important during coronavirus). Another option is to create larger maps for those so inclined... but that would be for a time when the game has more than the 40 or so people I see online at any given moment Overall the game is very well balanced and the gameplay relies on your ability to read and take the appropriate risks against opponents (though some of that is luck based). I would say this is the two player version of among us in terms of enjoyability and the type of enjoyability

Great game but some ideas

This is one of the best strategy games I’ve ever encountered on the App Store. I love the simplistic feel it gives while still being a complex game that requires lots of strategy. Though it could use some slight improvements here and there. Since there is no currency in the game (yessss,) it requires an in app purchase to acquire many unique pins. These pins have no use other than cosmetics, which I think is fine for a cheap price. Though, maybe there can be a way for people to get pins through something else and still have no in game currency. Maybe, there could be a tournament system, people would be split up into groups of fifty, and the person who gets the most wins and ends up on top of the fifty person leaderboard by the end of the tournament wins a pin. Or maybe there could still be tournaments, but you would be able to choose the one you participate in, and the prize pin for first place would be displayed so you know which pin you’re competing for. Also maybe there can be more pop up message options like “Much appreciated.” Or “Nice try.” (Maybe there can also be a four person game mode but that would be sort of hard to do without bigger maps.) Sorry for the lengthy review. All in all, this is a great game and I look forward to every update.

This is a great game. Don’t be deceived by its simple graphics and relatively muted colors. This is not some dusty old board game reincarnated into an app. Two Spies redesigns strategy into beautiful and creative gameplay, which not only keeps players coming back to the game, but also encourages them to develop their own winning tactics. I admit I had my doubts at first. The game was showed to me by a friend, and I immediately disregarded it as not my type. However, after two to three games, I was completely hooked. The mechanics of the game aren’t limited by any pay to win deals, or adds, or wait times. All it comes down to is the intelligence of you, and your opponent. Combine this with an element of risk -never knowing where your opponent is at all times- and locational advantages -the map itself- The game is a strategical masterpiece. And it doesn’t end there. Two Spies’ design adds needed depth that compliments its gameplay. The Cold War feel really envelops the player, making you feel fresh out of a retro espionage film, and the music makes you live for the moments you correctly predict your target. A decisive win, Royal Pixel.

One Of A Kind Game

This game is truly unique. Everything about it is perfect, from the maps, the abilities, even being able to choose a variety of different spy agents with their own bios to read. Recently I noticed the devs added a real multiplayer aspect, with online matchmaking and it made this game so addicting. If I could rate it 6 stars I would. I hope the online matchmaking becomes a permanent part of this game and I also hope that if the devs read this they would take the time to add more game modes. Maybe incorporate a 2v2 with a HUGE map of Western Europe that spans all the way over to Asia and maybe even Africa. I mean if this game takes place during the Cold War era you could arguably say that the whole world was affected by the communist leaders. If the devs read this I really hope you add more to the game. It’s perfect now, but you guys can make this a really popular game that everyone has at least downloaded once onto their personal device. You guys are amazing, and thank you for making such a fun game

Amazing Game!

I only got this game two days ago and I already love it a lot! I love how strategic it is and how many strategies you can use. I love the humor in the “Harmless” mode for the bot. I would love more Easter eggs like that in the game! Two problems though: When you play against the bot, the game sometimes crashed after the bot has taken an action and you have to restart I find this highly annoying, and it’s why I’m holding off that last star. Please fix this! I generally like the bot more than online and it’s how I play most of the time. The only other thing I would want changed is some sort of way to unlock the different pins without using money. Don’t let your awesome designs go to waste just because people don’t want to pay money! (Seriously this game looks so nice) Of course you could keep the “pin of the day and week” stuff for instant-gratification people, but maybe you could implement some sort of tournament to get pins, and maybe some pins could be rarer than others. This’ll add a lot of excitement to the pins, cause right now they don’t seem too important and that makes people less likely to buy them. Otherwise, this game is great!

One of the best strategy games I’ve ever played!

This game is amazing but I think it has two main issues that hold it back. It has a bit of a learning curve and the tutorial doesn’t do a great job at explaining all the abilities. Your left figuring out most of this on your own which might be fun for some but it can get very frustrating and completely turn someone off to the game. Then there is an issue with matchmaking time, sometimes it can take longer to find a match then the match itself. The developers need to find some way to keep up player retention so the community can build. You could possibly add some type of missions or story mode with rewards really anything to keep people coming back long enough to grow the player base so matchmaking times aren’t so long. Other than that the game is really something, super fun to play these mind games with people and the strategies are never ending. ps. I normally never write reviews but I love this game too much to see it die off…

What a fabulous game!

Honestly having played a lot of strategy games I find a lot of them tend to get old with age however this one always seems a little different. The cards are well balanced with maps constantly changing layout on each play through, leading to different strategies every time. There are enough cards to keep things interesting whilst also not overwhelming you and the layout and interface is clean and easy to use, unlike other strategy games I have tried. My only complaint is that whilst the maps are random right now there seems to only be Europe as a map and then the links change within that. I would like to see more variety in maps and restrictions (such as the city lockdowns) to keep things a little more interesting for those more familiar with the game but otherwise a solid concept all around :)

Recap

I love this game. But I would like to give a suggestion to have more recapping power. So i know recapping in the middle of a game would be annoying for the other player but maybe when a series has ended (someone has gotten 3 stars) that both players can recap as much as they want. Also maybe control when next move happens in recap like every time they push this button, they see the next move and another button the move goes back (forward and rewind). Also it would be nice to have a history tab, so in home menu, you can enter the history where you see your past games and can forward and rewind every game in each series. Obviously, I'm not asking for a full history, if it gets too much, have it so the oldest ones gets deleted as the capacity reaches it's max In my experience, I was confused and wondering how my opponent was so close to me so I pressed recap (when my opponent already got 3 stars so he's probably gone by now) and I was starstruck because I was new to recapping and everything happened so fast and I was surprised that I couldn't control the recapping at all. Then the recapping ended before I even understood anything and the button went gray and I couldn't recap anymore
