Love the characters
Mon Apr 29 2024 Anime_Derpy

I absolutely ADORE the dynamics in this game. That’s one of the pros. You can get a favorite character, duo, trio, and or group the more you play, and the voice acting helps to maintain your attention. The VA’s did amazingly!! Proud of them and their hard-work! The idle aspect is also useful. Life gets too busy for its own good, so seeing small, but effective, material grinds make coming back all the more worth it. Of course, there’s the debate with the AI backgrounds. Honestly, as long as the characters themselves weren’t used by AI, that’s tolerable. I suggest one day going back and maybe drawing the backgrounds out - if that’s remotely possible. Another thing is the financial gain. It’s pretty hard to grind the game around chapter 3, for me personally! It’s smooth sailing once you’ve completed the required Galaxy Express needed to continue - but when you’re stuck: you’re just stuck. That’s why theres a small gratefulness for the idle concept. It still HELPS despite that blockage. Overall, a fun, investing story! I love the story and the complexities of the houses, the art (during the story) along with the Warding/Character cards. Amazing VA’s, and overall a silly, cat-filled experience.

Annoying fake ads, fun game, bad drop rates.
Fri Dec 06 2024 Boogers McGee Hamfred

As much as I enjoy playing this game every day, I find myself disappointed with the amount of ads I get of this game with fake gameplay. The story is interesting, I do find that you’re pretty much forced to play every day to progress since at a certain point it becomes painstakingly slow to beat levels and grow your characters unless you are whaling money into the game (or consistently logging in to do all the daily check in activities across the span of multiple days to gain a singular level) . Even when you do put money into the game for pulls you still face really rough drop rates with little reward. There isn’t a clear distinction on how far off you are from beating levels either. Granted gameplay in that aspect is nonexistent. Aside from the music levels which are fun, albeit few and far between. Those levels offer no reason to replay after receiving the initial rewards. Unless you just want to replay it for the sake of replaying it. I still find myself engaged because I’m curious to see the characters stories. I think this game has potential, but currently it’s standing in its own way by falsely advertising interesting gameplay only to result in minimal actual gameplay that is completely different than the ads. I recommend if you like idle games and gatcha pulls. At this point I keep seeing cool ads then get disappointed when I see this games title attached to it. EDIT: even the photos on the store are of fake game play.

I'm going crazy

honestly this game is awesome. the story is very good literally can't wait to read everything but THE MAIN PROBLEM IS HOW HARD THE BATTLE STAGES ARE TO CLEAR OMG. YOU HAVE TO HAVE SSR CHARACTERS CUZ OTHERWISE ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAR AND GETTING THOSE SSRs IS SO HARD. LITERALLY EVERYTHING IS SO EXPENSIVE AND THE INGAME CURRENCY IS SO HARD TO GET WHY ARE YOU SO STINGY WITH REWARDS. literally everything needs those gems, even changing your pfp with the character you got needs gems and THAT costs twice the amount you need to do a single 10 pull. I really really love the character and the story its really sad how p2w this game is. not only is it hard to collect those gems and do a single 10 pull, the amount of pulls you did don't count when the banner is over and the next character comes which makes it almost impossible to get the SSR character, not only that you need 500 pulls to be guaranteed SSR....... guys THIS IS NOT HOW GACHA GAMES WORK THATS JUST IMPOSSIBLE. EVEN IF I WANTED TO BUY INGAME CURRENCY THEY GIVE YOU SO LITTLE FOR SO MUCH MONEY THIS IS CRAZY. I'm just so angry cuz I can't even get ONE of my favs why are you doing this, its gonna kill the game DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I need 3-7 days to finally win 1 battle and read a few chapters only to be stuck again. this is not a skill issue it's the game's problem. if this continues I won't even be able to play anymore and I really hope devs will listen and make things better

Love the game…not the wishing
Sat Dec 27 2025 ani_babe

Let me start off by saying I have played gacha games for years and years (Genshin, Honkai, LADS, Nu….you name it, I’ve played it). I also NEVER write reviews of apps, but I feel like I really should in this case. In ALL the games, without exception, the “wishing” algorithm has a built in “pity” system, in which…after enough “wishes” you are guaranteed the character you want. The system built into TD is asinine. The “pity” is set at about 500 wishes…which when you consider one 10 wish is about $40 (valuing the diamonds at approximately $.02 as per the 1,100 pack)….500 wishes is about $1,980….absolutely insane. For reference, a game like Genshin Impact, the soft pity hit at 70 wishes (guaranteed 5 star character), and hard pity was 140 (guaranteed the character banner you were wishing on). Love and deep space is very similarly set up. Tokyo Debunker itself is fun, and truly, you do NOT need to spend the money. It’s still enjoyable and I don’t want to take away from that. However, the “wishing” algorithm needs to be seriously reconsidered for longevity. It’s very difficult to support a game whose developers are perceived to be so out of touch with that is feasible for someone to financially contribute. I have always paid for games (because I enough it), but this is over the top for me. High investment, low reward is the mantra for Tokyo Debunker (as it is now).

This game is great but falls short
Mon Jun 10 2024 SFH1

Tokyo Debunker has a really good storyline. It has very interesting characters and the first two episodes are very well written. The third and fourth however fall short. They feel rushed and take away the players agency and importance. As the main character you really don’t have much to do and don’t do your job very well. The MC takes verbal beatings without the option to deny, refute, or stand up for herself. I think this game is very fun and is a great example of an idle game. A similar game would be Disneys: twisted wonderland. I think that the marketing is a problem for many but many similar games have bad marketing (such as obey me). I think a huge problem however is the gatcha system. It is nearly impossible to get character cards higher than an R rating. I am on episode 5 and have 1 Sr and SSR card for respectively (the SR was the free card from the beginning of the game). You can only set those cards as home screens as well and have to pay diamonds for pfps in game. I’m f2p btw. I have done multiple ten pulls which claim to always give and SR or higher card however this includes warding cards when it really shouldn’t. They do not have the same value and should be treated as such. It makes the game incredibly difficult when you can’t get proper character cards because of the warding cards.

It’s alright

The story and characters are great but it’s pretty bad gameplay wise, as the battles are auto run with RNG sometimes determining who wins. Mainly caused by attacks and some effects being uncontrollable so you can’t choose who your guys attack. I wish there was a way to see each monsters abilities/weaknesses as there isn’t a big reason to pick physical vs special attacks and other ways to figure out how to beat a case. The lack of strategy also means that I skip the battles and everything feels very monotonous . The cat rhythm game is fun but easier to beat with the audio off sometimes (still enjoyable most of the time tho) and the idle campus thing is fun I guess? Guild cats are cute but the nightmare raid, guild/fishing points, and arena shop rewards don’t feel very rewarding at “endgame” so it’d be nice if they offered better rewards even if they are 10x more than everything else. It would be good if they had more information to make gameplay and lore easier to understand. Maybe integrate it as the main character taking lessons with the other students about the world. Itd be nice if pity could be shared between banners like in other games. Most of the time it’s just grind dailies until next story release but at least it doesn’t take too much time

Awesome Story

Pros: I love the balance between fun and dark in the story of the game. As someone who works, it's also nice that the gameplay is pretty automatic. I also love that it is cumulative. Every card matters instead of just a select top five like most other games. This makes leveling cards more relevant. There is also a good selection of morally good vs bad characters in the game which makes it more intriguing compared to games where everything is centered around your player. The story would still be good without the mc. Still, there is a good amount of player input into dialogue or quizzes. The story is the best part of the game! The BGM is also great, I love the remixed classical music. So much of this game is awesome, I could complement so much more than what I have. Suggestions: Please have an art gallery for the story art. It would also be good to have character bios with their full design somewhere in the gallery. I personally like to make fanart so more references would be more user friendly for fans like me! It would also be nice to be able to customize the profile picture of our player to the one houses or dress our avatar up.

AI generated images, expensive to play, low SSR rates
Thu Jan 16 2025 White F4ng!

I started at launch and finally deleted the game today. Reached 24 mil power with around 10 SSR characters so no, I’m not hating on the game just to spite the game developers. The game itself is not a new concept: there’s a voiced story mode with 2D characters and AI generated backgrounds, a campus mode that is gated by case progress, an arena (and coliseum mode) which is competitive pvp, a guild wars mode, and the main appeal of collecting the ghouls from the different houses. The SSR rates are horrifically low and pity of 500 does not carry over to future banners. You do get guaranteed SSR banners … if you want to pay $42 for a pack. Want to change your profile picture to the SSR you finally pulled? Sure, that will cost you 3.5k gems - almost enough for 20 more wishes. Art is nice, but some of the warding cards are AI generated images. It takes so long to build team power. Game descriptions of orbs were glitchy for a long time. There isn’t much new content (besides story updates) and the game is quite stale in end game. The story starts promising, but becomes pretty boring as it continues. Some of the characters are decently likable, some are particularly irritating. All in all, I would not recommend this game unless you either don’t care about game progression or have a few hundred dollars to blow. Good luck.
