Great game but error with Chubei

I love this game and it’s beautifully made. One major bug that hasn’t been fixed in the half year I’ve owned it is when you play the character Chubei. Chubei gains an extra visit each time he eats a meal at an inn. If you receive the mountain panorama, for example, but have already completed it - you will be given a choice of a different panorama. However, after you choose you can’t proceed with the game and are frozen. Please correct this! Second, certain characters you know they will skip coins etc. So easy to defeat them because you know they will skip. If AI were improved to make them still get coins when low that might make it more interesting because pretty easy to win. Otherwise love it so 4 stars. Please fix Chubei bug!

Wow. Just wow

I don’t normally leave reviews or comments but I had never heard of this game and I saw a review of this app on my google feed and decided to read it. I became intrigued after reading about this game and the highly favorable comments by others and I started to look at the board game and I decided to give it a try for only 1.99. I cannot stop playing this game! The rules were a tad bit confusing and even the tutorial doesn’t fully explain everything so I went online and did some slight research on all the different spots you land on and how they work, and it was easy to understand how it all comes together. I only had to play twice to get an understanding of this game and I am blown away. Can’t believe I had never hear of this game earlier. I am strongly considering getting the board game now! My only gripe is: where is the expansion!? I hope they actually release it because it would make this amazing game even better. I seriously cannot stop playing. Once I started I gotta play like 5 games in a row(which take like 13 minutes a piece) but it’s so addicting even when you don’t win, you enjoy having played a round so much that I wanna play again and again! If you are on the fence about it, pick this game up. There are no bug crashes or glitches after only have this game for 2 days but I can’t keep my battery life! Get this now guys

Beautiful but buggy

Beautiful game, but the achievements are totally bugged. I keep unlocking achievements that are nowhere near close to being correct - for example, getting the achievement for winning a game when I was in last place, for successfully playing 50 times when I’ve only played twice... I suspect the game currently counts anything the AI does towards achievements as well, since the AI doing things like finishing a panorama causes the achievement to pop. What makes this worse is that the achievements repeat, so I’m basically getting spammed with notifications throughout the whole game as half the AI’s actions trigger some kind of achievement. I see patch notes saying they fixed this problem but it’s certainly not fixed for me. I’d also appreciate if game settings (like fast AI movement) were retained throughout all games.

Great but issues.

It’s a great game! But there are a couple of bugs. I tried to do online play and play with one of my friends, but it kept crashing. I also can’t figure out how to make an online account to get an achievement. That brings us to the next topic: achievements. There are a couple of easy ones, but one of them is literally to be the best player in the world. WHY?! Other than that’s the bots almost always just go the spot in front of you. Also what’s the puppet for on pass and play. There’s always just a puppet and a player has to move him and that means there’s always an extra player. Other than that, it’s amazing.

Just noticed a small bug

I had an encounter and received the 3rd piece of the paddy panorama and got the 3 bonus points. Then it said that I had already completed that panorama and offered me a piece of a different one immediately after. Now that I think about it, an AI player may have already finished the paddy panorama but I also got the bonus, although I’m not completely sure if that’s the case. Also, whenever I try multiplayer there are no games available, not sure exactly why though. Other than those two things I’ve been using this app for awhile now and really love the game! Been waiting forever for crossroads though.

buggy

I can’t reliably play on my ipad, because it crashes right when i open the app. I have to close the app and open other apps so it doesnt show in recently opened apps on the bottom of the home screen...and then sometimes it crashes mid-game. Then, I’m able to play continuously, so whne the game crashes is appears inconsistent. Also, I wish I could fast forward the animation, because I play solo and get tired of watching the AI’s run. And, when there are two slots, is the slot on top supposed to go first in the physical board game? I also get bored waiting for my turn and I cringe if I have to be the first to pick a location if there are two slots, because it meansI’ll wait extra long. Finally, I was playing the character that gets to pick the encounter. It was between picking a mountain or the sea. So picked the mountain so I could finish the set, then it went through some animation I finished and superimposed on top of that was a message saying I already finished the mountain set and pick again, so I picked sea and I got 2 paintings for one encounter. Lowered the game to ONE STAR because it’s buggy when playing online with friends. So frustrating. I can’t believe something so unstable was released and sold for money on the App Store.

Does not work well

My husband and I both downloaded this game because we have the board game and love it. It seems like they focused too much on the aesthetics and not enough on game function. I got a phone call in the middle of our first game and it kicked everyone off and deleted the game. Every time you close the app it logs you out. I haven't been able to log in for hours because the server isn't responding. There is a tutorial but it doesn't really explain how points are scored, so if you hadn't played the board game it would be confusing. I will update my review if these issues get resolved but so far I am very disappointed. One thing they did right is the visuals. It is illustrated beautifully and is one of the prettiest games I've seen on IOS.

Relaxing, beautiful challenge

What a beautiful game. I only play solo, so I can’t speak to online issues. But this app is flawless in solo play. Others have mentioned the tutorial being minimal, but I thought it sufficed and was well done. It gives you what you need to get started. Rules and strategy are easily available online if you need them, but this game is meant to be an exploration, it’s about the journey. The pace is relaxing, but there is still a strategy and challenge to it. It’s not overly hard nor too easy. It’s simply a relaxing, fun game. I’m glad that when you start a new solo game, you can click in settings for that game and set it to fast AI. That’s great for when you don’t have as much time. But the regular speed is perfect for a relaxing game. Thank you for a good game at a good price with no ads or IAP. It’s also good on battery life. I’m very happy to own this game!

The best board games on the Play Store are easier to find than ever with this helpful list.
