Minor bug fixes.
State Connect is a minimalist management game that captures the satisfaction of building infrastructure. Your goal is to connect cities across various maps with roads to facilitate the flow of traffic. The gameplay is extremely simple—drag a line between two points—but the strategy comes from managing your limited budget and the 'level' of your roads.
As the traffic increases, your roads can become congested, requiring upgrades to keep the money flowing. It has that 'Zen' quality often found in games like Mini Metro, but with a more casual, colorful aesthetic. While it can become a bit repetitive in longer sessions, it's a perfect 'podcast game'—something you can play while listening to something else, enjoying the slow transformation of a blank map into a thriving network.
Simple and intuitive drag-to-connect controls
Dozens of maps across various states and countries
Satisfying growth and upgrade mechanics
Minimalist and clean 3D art style
Relaxing, low-stress strategic gameplay
Don't just connect the closest cities. Look for 'Hub' cities that have many surrounding connections. Upgrading a central hub will provide a much higher return on investment than building many small, isolated roads.
Revenue isn't just for roads. You can also upgrade the speed and capacity of the cars themselves. Faster cars mean faster income, which is essential for unlocking the more expensive international maps.
Traffic will slow down, and your income rate will drop. You'll need to spend coins to upgrade the road to a higher capacity to fix it.
I’m giving this a 4 out of 5 stars because the amount of ads is ridiculous. The ads are so bad that you get a forced 30-60 second ad EVERY 90 SECONDS (I timed it.) You spend more time watching ads than actual gameplay. There is a no ad option to pay for no ads BUT that only gets rid of the forced ads…if you want to watch an ad for bonus supplies you can but honestly I feel like if you pay for no ads, you should not ever have to watch an ad for anything including the bonus stuff. You should get ad related content free without needing to watch an ad if you pay for no ads. Especially if no ads cost $10! That being said, the game is really fun and I liked seeing how many connections I can make with each city and exploring different countries is fun too. At this point, I feel like I’ve beaten the game so there’s not really much more I can do until they add new countries to visit. So far you can complete USA, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Took me about a week to get that far. So, If you don’t mind a TON of ads and need to waste some time, then this is the game for you. I just wish they’ll add more countries and cut the ads way down and that would make the game so much better.
UPDATE: remove ads option available. Now this is a 5-star game TL:DR VERSION: If this game offers an ad-free purchase upgrade, surely this can be a 5-star app easily. But, until then, the ads knock 2 stars off my rating for annoyance and hinderance of progression. IN DEPTH VERSION: The game itself is simple to understand, easy to play. As you unlock more regions and more routes, the pricing goes up, as is common with these kinds of games. At about level 5 or so, you can unlock 3 different “boosters” to increase your rate of earning to make gameplay quicker. Each can either be bought by your in game coins, or watch a free 30 second ad to gain (pops up every now and then). Where this game gets on my nerves is the mandatory 5-8 second ad watch every 45 seconds of gameplay. At first it’s not so bad, but when you have multiple areas unlocked and are trying to connect a city with all possible other cities, this ad break becomes troublesome, as most times you’ll find yourself in the middle of scavenging, and unable to complete the routes. It’s even more difficult when you return to the game and you have no idea which cities you were trying to connect, so you basically start all over and run into the same problem in 45 seconds.
Ok so I like little games like this that are super simple and just a time killer so I like the game but oh good god the ads are ridiculous and it’s OBVIOUS that the game has to be made in a way that makes you want to buy the no ads option because it’s every few seconds that a ad pops up and the game doesn’t allow you to earn offline or anything, so it’s incredibly slow to earn cash. The upgrade options skyrocket before your able to get back up to what you just payed easily or at least with less difficulty. For example. You have to pay like I don’t know $3k for a speed boost, then it skyrockets to like $20 for the next boost! That just makes it a grind game eventually which if your into that sort of think with games than ok but you can’t even grind the game without buying the no ads thing. The main issue is the ads. I’ve played quite some bad mobile games with horrible ad problems but it’s been a while sense I’ve found a game that throws a ad in your face every five seconds. I get you need the money but you can make people actually want to play your game with less ads and be willing to pay more money than $10 for no ads for a game with, to be honest, very very little to it with no “spice”. It’s to simple of a game for it to need ads to be removed for $10. If your going to make people pay that much for ads you may as well make them buy the game with no ads to begin with Add some more to the game so maybe it’s worth that $10 instead of telling people to pay for a game they can’t even play because of ads.
UPDATE: I have had this game for less than 72 hours, have put $15 into it, and it still reverts back to a super slow rate of game play. (Right now, I’m on level 50, with the app open for over a minute, my coins have not increased) Since you only accumulate money when the app is open, it makes the game unplayable. I will be reporting the problem to apple and requesting my money back. For such a simple game, I don’t need that frustration. Original - I will start off by saying I initially paid $10 for add removal. I consider it $10 for my sanity, as I like little games like this. I got to level 20, and everything was great. I could leave it open and walk away come back and buy a few more roads and upgrade a city or two, walk away and let the money accumulate. Then…all of the sudden…the revenue slowed down. I left the game open during a 30 minute drive and it moved from 10.1 million to 10.6 million, I left it open for hours when I came home, and it had still barely moved. since everything I needed was in the 60 million + range, I was really frustrated …there is no way to progress like that… after restarting the game and my phone I ended up purchasing 250 diamonds for $5 to give it a level boost with a billion coins. Now revenue is back up to a reasonable speed again. If it happens again, I will drop the rating down, as I consider that a game flaw and a way for developers to make you purchase more things…I won’t pay more than $15 for this game…I shouldn’t have even paid the second $5 at the point I’m at.
I paid for the ad removal because I enjoyed the game. I tried to play it today and the app kept crashing. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and much to my chagrin, the ad removal that I had already purchased was gone. I tried to restore purchases, and that did not work. I then tried to re-purchase the ad removal to see if it would force it to recognize I’d already purchased it. Every time I tried to purchase it, it would give me the pop-up saying you already own this do you want to install for free? I would hit OK the app would crash. I’d open it back up and I still had ads. This is very frustrating as this is a game that I do enjoy to just relax with. I sent an email to where it said to email case of problems. Heard nothing back. So until I get what I paid for this will stay a one star review. This is not fixed sooner than later, I will reach out to Apple support. I have no problem supporting developers and small businesses but not when I don’t get what I actually paid for that right there is a scam. if this gets fixed, I will change this review from one star. *just got an email with the devs asking what the issue is; legit asked "Could you kindly tell us more about the problem you are facing? We are looking to improve the game. Thanks.” I paid for the ad removal and I’m still getting ads. How is that hard to understand? So still a 1 star till I either get a refund or no ads.
I do enjoy playing idle games in my free time so this game looked right up my alley. The game is as it shows in the ads and isn't hard to grasp. The only issues are the sheer amount of ads this game has. There's obviously ads to get things in the game which I don't mind. I actually think those are quite helpful, but then there are "ad breaks" every 2 minutes (I timed it). Luckily those ads you can skip fairly quickly but then you have to go through the three ad screens before you can get back to playing. Plus they have an ad on screen while you're playing that's a little box at the top of the screen that's an audio ad. I don't usually have my ringer on so I never hear it, the only annoying thing about it is it covers the next goal at the top. At the top of the screen there's a little box that shows you the next goal you can complete for a diamond or something, the ad comes in and will block the middle text so sometimes I have no idea what the next goal is. It's also frustrating because you can't even move the little ad box and why is it put in such an inconvenient location. I think this game is great but I would be more inclined to play it if they didn't have ad breaks and maybe you were able to move that little audio ad out the way.
This “seemed” like a cute little time killer app, at first. There are major issues that need addressed ! First , I understand this is a small studio development, however the incessant ads are pervasive to say the least. So much so that the developers wrote a couple paragraphs that explain how they keep the development going on the app and even go so far as to say how annoying ads are, in the icon to remove ads. The low end quality of the app is in no way worth $9.99 to remove ads. My reason for this is the fact that there is no implementation of away earnings . Unless you have the app open and are actively playing , all earnings stop. What makes it even more pervasive with the ads, to the point I feel it’s engineered to encourage paying for ad removal, is that earnings while game is open stop every 15-20 seconds of while 30 second ads interrupt play. It’s aggressive marketing and aggressive pervasive ad placement , bordering on apple developer TOS for the platform. To be honest , ad revenue is not the only revenue available to even small studios . Try introducing a lower cost of ad removal, add in some in game content to purchase at a reasonable cost . Perhaps a coin purchase or a way to buy some keys to open additional territories . But at the current way the game runs , or fails to run from flooding of ads , I see this game , or any future apps failing to pick up momentum enough to be a success in this industry!
Overall this is a very fun and addicting and game, only experienced a few issues. 1) It seems I’ve reached max expansion after maxing out all cities in just two of the seven areas/maps. The world map lists additional areas as “coming soon..” well when? After reaching a certain level in the first area (I believe lv 90ish) is when the second area becomes available. Is this true for all new areas or have those areas not been developed yet? This is confusing. It would be nice to know at what level the next area has been or will be unlocked. 2) In both areas completed I can no longer upgrade the car even though it appears I can. Is level 20 the max level? If so, it would be nice to know it’s been maxed out. Also, if that’s the case there shouldn’t be anymore “missions” related to upgrading the car. 3) Because there are so many road connection possibilities and the map can easily fill up very quickly, it would be nice to know how many connections have been completed out of the total connections or if max connections have been reached. 4) Same with the cities, because the map can fill up very quickly and city icons are tiny.. it would be nice to have a counter to know how many more cities there are to upgrade. Thank you!
