10 new valentines levels unlocked upon completing the game
Spitkiss is one of the most unique and strangely heartwarming platformers on the App Store. It uses a clever one-finger slingshot mechanic to navigate through increasingly complex levels, but the 'characters' are droplets of spit sent between lovers living inside a giant body. It sounds gross, but the neon, organ-themed art style is actually beautiful, and the narrative—told through charming comic panels—explores themes of polyamory and identity with surprising depth.
The gameplay is precision-based. You have a limited number of 'hops' in the air to reach your goal, requiring you to think several moves ahead. The inclusion of 'bullet time' (slowing down time when you aim) is a necessary and well-implemented mechanic that prevents the difficulty from becoming frustrating. It's a game that challenges your reflexes and your brain while delivering a story that feels modern and inclusive. It’s a perfect example of how indie developers can push the boundaries of traditional genres.
Intuitive one-finger controls
80 handcrafted levels
Narrative told via digital comics
Inclusive and modern story themes
Speedrun and Hard modes
Pull back to aim and release to launch. Remember that you can only 'spit' again after you've touched a solid surface or used one of your limited mid-air 'hops' wisely.
When you touch the screen to aim while mid-air, time slows down. Use this moment to perfectly line up your shot through narrow gaps or moving lasers.
It starts as a relaxing experience but becomes a very challenging precision platformer in the later chapters, requiring careful timing.
Wow! As an avid fan of hand drawn comics, this instantly drew me in...I had to see for myself. For an indie game, $1.99 is a steal! This is hours of fun and frustration. The platform and controls are so smooth, but each level, as it should, gets harder and harder. The adorable story-line is one of love and can be enjoyed by anyone young or old. Your two year old isn’t gonna get anywhere on this game, but you sure as h*#% gonna love it. Pros: Angry Bird-like controls, cute and surreal sorry line, and the satisfaction of throwing spit kisses, who knew! Cons: Zero! A must download.
Cute little game that has a fun story to accompany some enjoyable gameplay. The controls are very natural, and the game gives you plenty of room to experiment when you're trying to decide how to get through a level. Do wish it presented a little more of a challenge the first time through, but I will also acknowledge that it does unlock additional goals for each level once you've finished the story. So that extra difficulty is totally there if you want it. Also, DO NOT PLAY THIS WITHOUT SOUND. The audio is adorable and gross in just the right ways.
The game mechanic is something I never seen before (I haven’t played that many games), challenging and the graphic of this game is cute. The plot is cute too but the ending is kinda weird to me. I would love to play another that’s like this :)
For some reason I love any 2d game that can have interesting and cool mechanics while also only utilizing a single thumb. This game is all of the above, oh, also it looks pretty dang good. Highly reccomend
I’ve had a blast with this game and I highly recommend that you check it out!
the art style, the characters, the comics, the music, the concept... its all so whimsical and engaging and downright weird and its just what I needed right now tbh! I love odd surrealism but so much of it in games suffers from cryptic babble writing, borderline grossness or creepiness, or just too abstract to keep you immersed. but this game gets it right!! its all just the perfect amount of “idek whats happening but I like it” that keeps the game alive and charming. the gameplay itself is great too, usually I’m not very into arcade/reflex timing but the infinite & instant retries plus the time slowdown during every move turns it into a puzzle for me, not just a frustrating attempt at coordination, and I appreciate that so so much. personally, its the overall package that makes me so fond of it bc along with being a game, spitkiss is a little self-contained experience. its a unique world, and everything from the spitkissing, the “inside organs” setting, the nonverbal communication... its everything I never knew I wanted. the queer themes also involved were just the absolute cherry on top; as soon as I saw the first images I felt that little bit of hope peek out, and then I saw the words “polyamory” and “nonbinary” and I was sold. im genderfluid, i find (esp verbal) communication difficult, i know relationships are unpredictable and gooey and silly and sometimes difficult, i feel Everything in all of my body, and this tiny little gem of a game speaks to all those important, unrepresented things. most telling, perhaps, was my immediate reaction to even just noticing the icon. bc as soon as I saw this game I dove into the description, and I pre-ordered immediately without a second of hesitation - which is very unusual for me! I just had such a good feeling about everything I saw, and my heart was correct :> sorry this was long but this game turned out to be something really special!! so to potential players - buy it, absolutely, its worth it. whether for a challenge, a zen puzzler, a cute love story, a unique experience, or just to make you smile - whatever you’re looking for, I think you’ll find it! support these devs and enjoy some adorable weirdness for mere change even though its worth a lot more. devs: I admire you sm for using your creativity to (even if unintentionally!) communicate these concepts and feelings and help me to visualize them. I really hope you guys find your way into the spotlight and have the chance to make more things like this!! bc sometimes its the little things that make a big difference, like bouncing a spitkiss through your organs and bonding over flowers in between 💕
xoxoxoxoxo good game 2
