Updated for iOS 16 with a bunch of bug fixes. Thanks to all of our players and please keep the great feedback coming!
I grew up with Spite and Malice and it's always been one of my favorites card games. I've been waiting for years for an electronic version so was thrilled when I found this a few years ago. The updates have improved the game and this version is wonderful The game play is one of the best out there of any card game, the graphics pretty and the movement smooth and fast. The option to play with peers over the network works really well and I've used it often. My complaints are: 1. Even at the hardest level, the computer makes stupid mistakes like playing from the discard piles when the same number is on the pile to get rid of. 2. The new goals thing is annoying and I thought it was an ad at first. I want the option to turn it off. This is one of the few apps I've actually purchased because I play it so much. Every time I play a game on my phone it's the first or second I choose, and I want to support the developers. I highly recommend this fun and addictive game.
I’ve played this game thousands of times in my lifetime. THOUSANDS. Therefore I’m very qualified to tell you about this game and it’s ap flaws… First of all… your opponent can just leave the game and not finish it and leave you if you’re winning without ANY demerit done to them. Poor sportsmanship is a problem in this game with random players and you get no reward for an abandoned game and they get no points taken from them. They need to fix that. If you leave a game, you should lose 1,000 points for unsportsmanlike behavior. Secondly… you never get the option for a new challenge and have to wait for the clock to expire to get a new challenge so leveling up is ridiculously slow and unrewarding. 3rd…. There are ZERO points awarded for winning a game, only challenges can do that. They need to fix that!!! You should gain at least 500 points for winning a real PVP game! Finally, I’ve played this particular ap game enough to be able to tell that this game is rigged to pick a player who will win. So you can sit and go through TEN or TWELVE turns before you’ll get the card you need. That’s statistically impossible unless it’s rigged. So this game, as well designed as it is, has some serious flaws that are bad enough to make the paid version not worth the price.
I play this almost every day. I love it. I have the paid version, as to support the developers. :). It’s just as I remember from my younger days playing with family members and friends. Good deal. Developers, please add the ability to get multiple rewards ( by watching ads) after you’ve played the days challenge. It used to be an option, but some time ago, it changed so that “no ads available right now” is all that shows up. A suggestion for the developers - allow the players to bypass the days rewards to a different one. I don’t enjoy playing “ spiteful” games so when that comes up for the days reward, I just skip playing at all for that day. Kinda disappointing. Maybe other users and players aren’t too bothered by it, but I thought I’d let you know that it disappoints me, anyway. ✌️
A large amount of strategy is able to be utilized in this simple game. The decision making to be able to block your phone opponent from playing their hole card is predicated upon looking at all the options that you have present and future, the options your phone opponent has present and future, the unknown vagarities of what card may turn up in your own hole pile, the possibilities of what my turn up in the opponent hole pile, can you go on a run before the opponent goes on a run, how long may the runs last, etc. Also, don’t make a false step in choosing where to place a card because the game does not allow you to go back and fix a mistake.
The game is well designed and fun to play. It is one of the card games I play most often. That being said I think there is a lot more work the developer could do to improve the intelligence of the computer. It will waste wild cards when it has other cards to play. It also plays lousy defense by often playing right up to the card I need to play, even when it is my last card. It seems to compensate for its poor play by dealing more wild cards to the computer. Still, even on the most difficult setting I win 90% of the time. The new Spiteful difficulty level is no different than the other levels. Overall a fun, well designed game. Just frustrating that after so long the developer isn't able to improve obvious flaws in the AI.
Tons of fun! I've played over 6,000 games of Spite and Malice on my IOS devices. All on the Expert setting. Very challenging. Very enjoyable! But... The developers need to work with Apple on the Apple Game Center scores. It took me over a year in the Expert Level to go from the bottom player to currently #112. The players #1 and #2 literally arrived their overnight. The people who are #3 and below have been playing for months or years. There is no way the current #1 and #2 Expert Level players could have honestly earned those reviews without somehow hacking the Apple Game Center software.
My hubby and I love playing this game back and forth. I just feel like the app needs a rehaul. Make it more user friendly. Sometimes the game won’t work when we request a new game with each other. Sometimes it will. Also the notifications, OhMyGoodness!! I get so frustrated. I have to close the app out and open back up to get the badge icon to disappear. That’s after I have already played my turn. Also, I play with my husband, 1 game at a time, but the badge icon says I have 3 notifications even though I only have 1. Its so stinkin’ frustrating. Not going to uninstall the game just because of that but I can say I have looked on the App Store for a better version of the game.
I bought the hd version to be able to play with a friend of mine. We are in different time zones so we don’t play at the same time. We’ve discovered that the game can’t invite someone if they are offline and once you start playing, you have to finish the game or lose it. It would also be nice to have a chat box so you could communicate with the other player. I’m disappointed that it doesn’t save the game like my other online games do thay we play. Also when my friend gets the invite it says it is from another friend of mine who never plays. I’ve tried to delete him but the app keeps putting him back. Need to fix these issues please.
If Google wants AI to be the future of its smartphones, it needs to get a lot better at making the utility of these apps clear.
