Silt is a breathtakingly eerie experience that will completely captivate fans of atmospheric indie hits like Limbo or Inside. The ink-drawn, high-contrast monochrome visual style gives the entire underwater world a haunting, nightmarish quality that makes every deep-sea trench feel genuinely mysterious and unsettling.
The core mechanic of leaving your diver’s body to possess local marine life is beautifully integrated into the puzzle design. Figuring out how to use a heavy, armored fish to smash ancient infrastructure or a small, agile creature to navigate a maze of deadly electric eels feels organic and rewarding.
The game relies heavily on its dark mood and tense pacing, which might feel slightly oppressive if you prefer upbeat, colorful casual games. But if you appreciate exquisite art direction, clever environmental puzzles, and a deeply immersive, unsettling sense of isolation, Silt is an unforgettable journey into the deep.
Striking monochrome art style hand-drawn by artist Tom Mead
Unique soul-possession puzzle mechanics requiring creative use of diverse marine life
Tense, atmospheric underwater world design blending surrealism and mild cosmic horror
Engaging environmental storytelling that rewards thorough exploration of the ocean depths
To get past the giant mechanical snapping jaw on the third depth layer, projects your soul energy into the nearby schooling fish. Swim one fish directly into the jaw line to trigger its snapping lock mechanism, then quickly swim your main diver past before it reopens.
Gameplay revolves around exploration and soul manipulation. Players emit a spiritual tether to control specific creatures—like sharp-toothed fish to bite through heavy ropes or fast crabs to trigger mechanical switches—clearing paths through a striking, hand-drawn side-scrolling world.
Silt is an atmospheric puzzle adventure; while it features a tense, eerie setting and massive, intimidating creatures, it focuses on mystery and puzzle logic rather than traditional cheap jump scares.
I adore the detail of the fish and monsters that are in this game, and the detail that’s included around them, and the game isn’t to scary itself, it’s fascinating what fish or monsters you come upon, and when you see the bigger ones you might think, oh wow when did that get there. I’m not entirely sure I’ve only encountered one, and that one really surprised me. The controls aren’t too hard to work with, and the main menu only has 3 options, Continue, Settings, and Main Menu. I haven’t gotten the full version yet but I plan to eventually. Silt seems like a really interesting game to continue playing so far, so I’d love to play some more when I get the chance. I hope more people find this game and enjoy it as much as I do. My experience - I swam towards something thinking, I’ve found the exit, Yes! But I was fooled of course, I was startled, scarred, and somewhat surprised. I trapped myself in a corner after that but soon I finally found my way out, I almost opened a new save and gave up on that one, but I found my way out after a good while.
Very fun and intriguing game. Easy gameplay, smooth and satisfying. Played on an iPad 13in, would’ve loved the ability to shrink the game controls to not take up the majority of the screen real estate. Also would’ve loved if the controls disappeared during cutscenes. Sometimes it was confusing as to whether or not I should be interacting with the game at that moment or not. And again, they blocked the view of the visuals pretty substantially. Thoroughly enjoyed otherwise, worth the few bucks for the full experience.
This game is beyond gorgeous. The graphics are perfect and make exploring this underwater world mesmerizing. Gameplay is straightforward and the tutorial is good. Puzzles are mostly engaging, with only one very exasperating area that requires very fast fingers. There are a few areas that I think are a little underclued— where I was just roaming around trying everything I could think of. I did have to go to a walkthrough once because I just couldn’t figure out what to do to progress, and it was something I had tried, but not for long enough. Finding the perfect level of cluing in game development is very difficult, though. I highly recommend playing this in the dark, since the screen is so dark on iPad that it’s sometimes very difficult to see exits or clues. Also, I turn off sound nearly 100% of the time when I play games, and I kept it on with this game. Excellent and unobtrusive sound. Well worth the purchase price and I loved playing. Thanks, devs!
I’ve been playing this game for like 20 minutes. Just finished the free trial. This is freaking amazing. I’m a pc gamer and this gives me incredible indie studio vibes. This is something I would legitimately pay 10 or 15 dollars for on my PC. Am most definitely going to be buying it here. I’m honestly just shocked at how smooth and immersive this all feels. Like wow for a mobile game, even for games in general. This ambience and vibe is so freaking cool.
I’ve been expecting this game for a while and it absolutely did not disappoint. It’s entertaining, the graphics are amazing, the gameplay is extremely smooth, and the plot of the game leaves you wanting more. Most definitely recommend to play and buy the full version as I'll be doing soon.
This game is so fun! I love how you have to figure out things in order to go farther! I do wish instructions were slightly clearer because I had to look up a video on how to get out of the first stage😅. The free trial is so worth it and would definitely recommend this game as a scary not so scary game. Great work here!!!
Top tier level of game making, simple yet fun, small yet intricate, the free demo is amazing and I wish the full game was free because this is an amazing game and shouldn’t be hidden behind a paywall, but I completely understand why so I won’t hate you for that. Thx for reading this and have a great day/night/etc
The game is great and also has controller support. However, it is missing a few QoL settings. First of all, it absolutely needs cloud saves so that you can play on iPad and iPhone without starting a new game. Second is it needs a toggle to turn off or lower the opacity of the controls of you are using a controller to play
