Dinsun Expert Review

Our Expert Score

85/100

This version of Rummy 500 perfectly captures the tactile joy of sitting around a kitchen table playing cards. The digital translation is incredibly clean, featuring large, legible card designs and intuitive tapping mechanics that prevent accidental discards. The pacing is snappy, making it an ideal choice for a quick five-minute break or an extended session.

The AI behavior deserves special praise; it plays realistically, making tactical mistakes on lower settings while becoming a ruthless, card-counting opponent on higher difficulties. Combined with its complete lack of intrusive ads and deep rule customization options, it sets a high benchmark for classic card game adaptations on iOS.

Classic Fav
Tue Feb 17 2026 HCC4U

This game has been a classic fav of mine for 25+ years. This is the first time I’ve tried playing this game on my phone, all I’ve known is playing cards with peeps. I’m amazed at how fun this game is on my phone, I would’ve never thought an electronic version would be any good. Boy was I wrong. Give it a spin, if you’re a 500 Rummy fan like myself, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it just as well.

Could be better, but the cons make it annoying
Sat Apr 18 2026 Reptiles4Life1

There’s an ad after every single round. It doesn’t even get through the score tallying before the ad starts. You can just close the app and open it again though to fast skip so this is just a mild irritation. Removing adds requires a subscription which is such a cheap move. Playing against the bot is the most annoying part here though. It feels like the cards are never actually shuffled and I’m certain the hand the bot has changes after your first move. Honestly, every single round I play, without fail, whatever I discard, the bot picks up and creates an immediate meld, 9/10, they create multiple and are down to just a couple cards before my next turn. Occasionally I’ll get lucky and I can pull through to winning, but the amount of ‘luck’ this bot has is unreal and it just becomes very frustrating.

They Won’t Fix a Broken Issue

This game has great graphics and is engaging, but if you are a seasoned Rummy 500 player, skip this app. There is a major glitch regarding discarded cards, and in many instances the game will not let you draw a card you could immediately play. I contacted support and sent several screenshots demonstrating the issue to the developers, thinking they may like to fix it, but all they would do was send me replies saying you must immediately play a card you draw from the discard pile the instant you draw it, on that same turn. Duh. That’s exactly what I was trying to do, but the game wouldn’t let me; this is the very issue I was trying to draw their attention to. If you enjoy playing Rummy 500, then, you’ll want to skip this app and try another one that actually works.

Uneven Dealing
Sun Jan 04 2026 MountainGirl1414

I find the dealing to be incredibly uneven. 90% of the time the bot has at least 2 to 4 sets of cards they can lay down on the first run. Also, the game does not let you dig unless the bottom card is part of a set. For example, I was trying to dig to a 5♦️ because I had the 6 that could be played on cards already on the table (7/8/9), but it would not let me dig because it did not recognize the 6 could be used. Another time I was trying to dig to a joker in the discard pile. It did not recognize how I was trying to use the card, so the bot was able to retrieve it on its next play. A lot of kinks that need to be worked out.

Fun & Addicting

I was excited to find this game after remembering playing it with my family as a kid. The rounds go quick so you can easily play several games in one sitting without realizing it. My only complaint is that the game clearly favors the bot. Some of the bot plays seem impossible when you pay attention to what cards it is picking up and laying down. Also, I’ve noticed that it will allow the bot to close the round without discarding. For example, it had two cards, picked up one, laid the 3 cards down, and never had one to discard but it closed the round.

Needs work

The game seems great when you first start playing it, but the longer you play, the more issues you find. The rules it enforces vary from hand to hand so sometimes you are allowed to make a particular move but other times you aren’t. The game regularly limits which moves you can make, even if there are other choices available, forcing you to make a less favorable play. The bot often has amazing hands that seem highly improbable in a real deal game. Overall, the game has potential, but currently needs some changes to be a better game.

Fix is needed

You better fix this game. You do allow me to pick up cards when I only have one meldable matching card in my hand but you allow my appoinent to pick up cards and use three from the pick up and he only had one in his hand to meld. This is not fair. If you don’t fix this I will simply discard the whole game.

Could've been a 5 star game app
Wed Apr 15 2026 Jerzi1

It's really fun and kind of addicting but the ads after every hand is very annoying. And you can't pay a flat fee to get rid of them. You have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription! So for those reasons I am rating this 3 stars and switching to another rummy 500 game app to play. And FYI the other rummy 500 game app lets you rearrange the cards in your hand. While this one doesn't. That is another thing I don't like about this app. And for that I am removing one more star.
