Bug Fixes (negative coins, too zoomed-in on tablets, invincible enemies, unbeatable lvl44)
Real War Not Fake is a game that demands your full attention. It’s refreshing to find a mobile strategy game that doesn't hold your hand or rely on flashy, unrealistic special effects. The focus here is strictly on the 'chess match' of military engagement. Every unit lost feels like a genuine setback, which makes a successful flanking maneuver all the more satisfying.
The UI is a bit dense and can be intimidating at first, but it provides all the data a strategy nut could want. The graphics are gritty and functional, prioritizing clarity on the battlefield over visual flair. It’s a niche title for sure—it’s slow-paced and requires a lot of patience—but for fans of classic PC wargames looking for a mobile equivalent, this hits the mark. It could use a bit more work on the tutorial, but once you understand the systems, it's a very rewarding experience.
Deeply realistic tactical combat mechanics
Authentic modern military units and hardware
Complex environmental factors (weather, terrain, lighting)
Challenging single-player campaign missions
Resource and supply line management
At the start of each mission, select your units based on the intelligence report. Place them in the deployment zone, ensuring your snipers have high ground and your tanks are positioned to lead the charge.
During combat, use 'Cover' to protect your troops. Monitor your ammunition and fuel levels; if a unit runs out, they become sitting ducks. Use the 'Tactical Pause' to issue complex orders to multiple squads at once.
Terrain, line of sight, ammunition, and fuel levels.
They reverted to the previous version and everything is back. Time will tell how the next update goes - The game just got updated again. I appreciate that there are frequent updates, but this one is terrible. It got rid of all my coins, there is no unlimited mode as far as I can tell. And my guys don’t shoot when I start the game which means it’s completely unplayable. Also, in the previous version, you could just click the chest at the end and not have any ads. Now there is an Ad every single time, even if you die within seconds, which happens every time because the guys don’t shoot.. also, I have been upgrading my money multiplier for like 3 months, it was reset back to 1 with the new update
There’s like 2 levels and they’re both the same enemy layout, tires and everything. When you beat one, you switchback to the other and you have to start over from scratch leveling up your fire rate and damage. This makes the game repetitive. It would be nice to see an actual endless mode with randomly generated enemy positions and other aspects. Another thing I find bothersome is, the ad you see everywhere for this game looks different than what’s actually inside the game when you play it. Character models, map layout, weapon power ups that don’t even exist, etc. I think the game would be better without upgrades. I get that it keeps you interest for a LITTLE while, but at some point you get so tired of dying over and over making almost no progress whatsoever on your upgrades. You can’t progress farther into maps unless your fire rate and damage are increased enough. I get the dev is doing his best, and so far he’s done a good job, but I believe the points I’ve mentioned would make the game better. I’ll update to 5 stars if these changes ever happen. For those reading this, prepare to die constantly without progressing much due to the upgrade system.
This game is just some dumb incremental game. It’s nothing like the game in the ads. The game in the ads made you feel super overpowered which is what makes it enticing, because it’s satisfying to be overpowered. This one you spawn in, get past the first 2 zones, until you get to a 3rd one that requires you to shoot out a -30 or you’d lose all troops. Then you have to keep replaying over and over to get enough money to upgrade to get past that section, then it’s just that over and over and over again. Upgrade to get past 1 section, then you have to keep dying at that section to upgrade enough to get past the next one. I’d rather a game with levels, not just keeps going on forever so it’s like a dumb Roblox incremental game. Also the unrewarded ads are 👎. This game has 0 server costs, you’d still make money off this game if you just had rewarded optional ads and got rid of the ads that play every 4 rounds. Gets super annoying because you have to keep dying over and over to get money to upgrade. Which means you have to die in the first 3 seconds 4 times, the sit through 30 seconds of ads, then do that over and over.
This game is just like the ads we’ve all seen and wanted to play, but never could because they were lies. But this is the real deal! It’s really fun, and actually pretty challenging! I’ve not experienced any of the bugs other people have; I can exit out of ads just fine, you just need to wait for the X to appear. There are quite a bit of ads, but I haven’t found them to be nearly obnoxious as some other apps; these ones aren’t inappropriate or overstimulating at least. There also seems to be a way to ear Ad Free using in-game currency instead of real money?! Which I think is a great incentive to keep playing. Overall, I love this game a lot!
I don’t understand how the gun math works out at all. A Level 2 pistol has a greater DPS output than a Level 5 assault rifle? Additionally, why do the troop -/+ gates not change value based on the rate of soldiers we have at our disposal? A -50 red gate should increase faster the more soldiers you have available. At least that’s conventional wisdom. There’s also no variety in this game at all. There’s only about five levels that all get recycled with some minor values swapped around. This game could GREATLY benefit from increased location variety, environmental hazards, different enemy types with different abilities, buffs/de-buffs, etc. Is there any advantage to trying to move around to avoid the big ogre’s swinging club attacks? Is it even possible to dodge them? Why do some of my outside troop’s bullets fly past him when he gets too close? There should be some sort of intelligent grouping that allows troops to actually center their shots on a target and not just shoot past it. -UPDATE- The update to the ad frequency is a welcome change, along with the ability to lock your weapon, but that’s about where the positives end. Level variety is still a joke, enemy variety is non-existent, walking down a bridge is boring. But this update also brought some new issues. The bullets now sometimes go through the gates and into the one behind it. This is particularly annoying because if there’s a red gate behind a blue one, you’re essentially undoing your progress. In addition, the bullet grouping is now even worse than before, as it’s possible to shoot adjacent red and blue gates simultaneously, which is also not helpful. The game is fun for about three minutes, but it’s so repetitive with so little variety that it quickly becomes boring.
Progression feels deliberately bad. Every upgrade to damage, firerate, army size, and multipliers increases by such tiny, almost unnoticeable amounts that runs blur together into a boring grind with no real sense of power or improvement. With basic knowledge of a game engine, anyone could throw this together in a weekend. The developer simply took advantage of years of fake ads (where the player always does everything wrong) to lure people in, then delivered this bare-bones experience designed to keep you hooked just long enough for more playtime. If you’re downloading out of curiosity after hating those ads, you’ll quickly realize it was never worth the wait. Skip this low-effort mobile trash.
Pretty much the playable version of the game you’re probably looking for but only 2 different layouts. No variety, I have been playing this game thinking “this can’t really be all there is can it”. It is. Mindless gameplay, minimal strategy and literally 2 levels so once you figure out the optimized path on both all you’re doing is grinding for more coins to buy power ups to make it to the level you just played previously. Worst part is power ups don’t actually carry over. So other than earned coins you have to start each level from square one and spend coins to get back to where you ended the last level at. Like other reviewers have said, it doesn’t matter how big your army is when trying to flip the negative walls into positive. It is counting the collective shots as 1 per… so -50 walls are almost certainly a game over unless you just keep playing to get coins so you can afford more upgrades. They purposefully made the upgrades so minuscule that you have to watch an ad to double the upgrade. Between the level bug and the upgrades being so poor and not carrying over it’s really just a 2 level demo.
This is a good start, but it’s not enough to be great just yet. Sometimes, the gates you pass through go in the opposite direction. For example, if a gate is -10, it’ll go up instead of down (for example, up to -25) when shooting it. Or it’ll count down like it’s going to start being positive numbers, then it’ll “flip” and start counting in the opposite direction, increasing the negative number again. On another note, I would happily pay to remove ads. I hate the idea of having to watch ads and accrue coins. I’d have to watch 100 ads to remove them completely, when I’d rather just give my money. I hope this app continues to improve because I love its concept.
