64 bit fun!
iPhone X fun!
Had to remove some (totally non-essential) stuff like video recording and leaderboards to make Pumped 2 work on newer phones.
Best box and probably the best game in the racing category. Very realistic response as far as the tricks are performed and still get those opportunities for some ridiculous air to make it a bit more fun than something that would be 100% realistic. Every once in awhile I feel like I hit a button and it doesn't read or respond which is pretty frustrating when you're just a few points away from clearing a goal and you hit the jump and noting happens. But that could be anything from me hitting the button wrong to the iPhone screen not reacting correctly. I do wish there were an option in the game to stop notification popups so they don't interrupt gameplay and cause the same frustration as a button not reading. Otherwise I have to keep turning my airplane mode on and off to play the game if I don't want to be interrupted. That would be the one thing I would love to see on this game.
Playing on a 4S, the game is really smooth. Controls are overall a little better than the original, and the levels don't require the extreme precision to clear each jump like it used to. In other words... way more fun, yo! The two sets of tricks are a difficult to wrap your head around but it works. Things get a little ridiculous when you're spinning, flipping and tricking simultaneously but hey, it's a game. The only real complaints I have are that 1. the diagonal trick joystick buttons seem much harder to hit, and 2. some tricks done while spinning appear to go against the spin style-wise, like the 360 table and 360 turndown. But yea, incredibly sick game otherwise!
This is the first mobile game release I've ever put in my calendar. I'm thrilled that this game has lived up to what I was hoping it would be. It also cost far less than I was expecting to pay. Manuals, grinds, and slow spins are so fun. The trick animations look authentic and great, with a certain developed style only actual BMX riders would take notice of. I'm looking forward to playing this one for a while. Side note: I haven't encountered a single bug or had one crash as of yet. Respect goes to the developer for putting in the effort to have the first release be solid as this.
Still the best BMX game ever made but I had to update my review due to a lack of support from the developer. This game has never been updated since its release in September of 2014. Hopefully we get a new game this September if we're keeping with the devs past release cycle. I'd definitely plop down another $5 or so on a Pumped BMX 3 without hesitation. Would also welcome a track pack and added features of any kind to this game. I also much preferred the replay functionally of the original Pumped game where it automatically recorded every run and gave you the option to either watch or save after every run. In this game you have to activity choose to record a run, which I never seem to remember to do. So I think the replay function was better on Pumped 1.
EA's Skate (for Xbox, PS3, etc) really changed skating games forever. What they did was make a skating game that was (somewhat) realistic and (somewhat) difficult. To the point where you'd be stoked if you learned how to 360 flip to smith down a rail. This bmx game has really nailed this aspect, so if you're a fan of Skate or other games like it you'll love this one. Like real life action sports there is a learning curve, you'll progress and learn better tricks the more you play. The challenges are hard and rewarding when you finally stomp those tricks. Highly recommend this game!!!
I loved the first pumped Bmx and this one blows that one out of the water. The controls are better, the tricks are cooler, and the graphics are awesome! It's awesome to see a game developed and made by an actual Bmx rider, it definitely makes a difference. You can see all the different riders influences and styles in the character. Being able to change the character's appearance and bike is really cool too. Keep the new levels coming! Maybe even some clothing and bike expansion packs would be sweet! Keep up the great work Adam!
One of the few games that I have spent money on!! I know the 2.99 price point might scare you a bit, but this game was well worth every penny! Best bmx / bike game available on the App Store to DATE! Even if you aren't a rider you will still find it hard to put this game down! Amazing play. Lots of cool tricks and fun levels. Overall 10/10 game! AND you can record your screen! If you have any doubts go on Instagram and search the hashtag #pumpedbmx2 there are tons of awesome videos. Bottom line. BUY THIS GAME.
The camera is bad. It is too zoomed in at parts and you can't see the landing so you don't know when to push the pump button which makes it hard to get speed for the best jump. This happens on the manual sections. Just zoom it out for the love of god. Also boosting should be a button or double tap the pump button. I don't want to have to jerk my phone to boost off a jump. I've also noticed that sometimes the controls do not register when I try to flick to do a trick. You should put an option in that you can turn on and off that lets you know when to push pump and when to release. I just spent a week getting frustrated with this game only to find out I was releasing pump too soon off the jumps.
