Project Muse is a breath of fresh air for the rhythm genre on mobile. It ditches the generic pop songs of its competitors for a high-energy, original electronic soundtrack that fits its 'Cyberpunk' aesthetic perfectly. The gameplay is deceptively simple—just tap to the beat—but the visual feedback is so vibrant that it feels like you're playing inside a neon equalizer.
The difficulty ramps up significantly in later tracks, requiring multi-finger coordination that will challenge even veteran rhythm players. My only gripe is that the UI can be a bit cluttered, but once the music starts, the flow state it induces is incredible.
Original high-quality EDM tracks.
Dynamic visual effects that react to the music.
Competitive global leaderboards.
Diverse cast of characters with unique themes.
Simple controls: tap and hold.
Accuracy is more important than just hitting the notes. Perfect hits build your fever meter faster, which triples your score during peak sections of the song.
Each Muse has a specific set of tracks. Earn currency by playing songs to unlock new Muses and expand your library.
No, Project Muse features a curated list of original tracks specifically designed for the game's maps.
I LOVE this game. I just downloaded it recently, but it sucked me in. The music (while not generally my taste) is really good, and the game is actually a rhythm game. I see a lot that call themselves that but are actually just speed based games. There IS speed involved, but the connection to the beat of the song makes it much easier to get used to the faster paced ones. The speed up function is also nice because it makes the game itself faster paced, but the music doesn’t change. You just play along with more of the notes. You’re also able to get most of the songs without paying for VIP (which isn’t all that expensive anyway and is a one-time purchase). As for my frustration, it isn’t too bad considering how good the game is already, but I can honestly say that I would have no complaints if this was added (other than my simple lack of skill). What I’m talking about is a practice feature. I find myself playing songs that are more difficult so much that I have the beginning part perfect, but the rest of the song is still a train wreck simply because it takes so long to get there and then I just mess up. I would love it if a feature was added that allowed us to practice different parts of the song. Maybe have it cut up based on the lane changes (1 lane, 2 lanes, 3 lanes, etc.). If that was added, it would make practicing the songs much easier, and I would be able to play for a lot longer without getting bored. It would be nice to stop playing the same thing over and over and over again just so I can practice that one section with a weird tempo. If this already exists and I just missed it, please let me know, but if not, then I would love it if the feature were added. Anyway, it’s a great game! I would highly recommend downloading it if you like rhythm games.
It used to be so fun but they keep adding really bad songs (I will NEVER forgive you for replacing Black Rock Shooter with whatever that hot garbage it is now, it’s also been there for a few updates and the song title still says black rock shooter) Also the paywalls getting worse and worse And when the game most recently changed its layout and leveling up stuff, getting the green currency is so much harder!! Having one level bar instead of different levels for each character gives you less “green ”… it’s almost like they WANT you to pay for it now 🙄 Idk if these are just my phone or not, but my calibration keeps changing? Even though the number doesn’t change in the settings, the timing is definitely off and I have to recalibrate which is annoying. Also whenever I have 4 lines, the two towards the edge of my screen sometimes just don’t count my taps. Like I’m very obviously tapping them and they sometimes just pass or miss with messes with my score or I flat out lose the game. Also the m-space needs updating… plz plz plz the ivy song is there but you can’t play it because it’s an m-space song but you can’t access her space Speaking of Ivy, it’s so hard to get any of her songs because the fragments are stupid hard to get just one, and you can only get one a day, and you need five for one song….. absurd Sorry this is a long review…. Just want to warn any newcomers about some of the games flaws, at least the ones I can think of….. we suffer here but we’re also having fun? Sometimes
Ok don’t get me wrong in anyway I absolutely love this game I used to play it ever since I was like 14 and I’m currently almost 20(I think i’ve been playing since I was 14 not sure but not the point)ever since I actually wanted to see more from the game literally almost every song needed vip or a package and some people broke to be honest- I wish there was more stuff to do that doesn’t need money (also maybe try redesign some of the characters y’all redesigned them once why didn’t u keep it-) nothing really much to say it’s a great game over all very enjoyable and entertaining to me and the adds don’t really ruin it much I barely find any unless I watched an add for a reward nothing more to say great game thank u for listening to my ted talk-JJchu
I’ve loved P.Muse since it’s release and have been playing it ever since. I love the different difficulties, the variety of songs, and the beautiful designs. But with the new VIP update, I’ve started to hate it. I’m honestly broke, so I never can afford to buy anything in games, but while the grind is honestly fun, P.Muse has disappointed me again and again lately. Songs that I’ve worked to Buy And Earn for MONTHS, are suddenly taken away and forced to buy again with each and every new update. This makes it hard to enjoy and makes all my hard work become useless. The songs were pretty much stolen from us and then blocked by a paywall that, guess what, never used to be there before. And permanently locking new songs in an expensive (for cases like mine, who can only be a free-to-play person) VIP blockage? That makes it so unfair. Once again, I’ve worked months to be able to earn enough coins to buy the originals AND new versions of songs, and having them suddenly taken away with a new update angers me to no end. I worked hard to pay for this song, and now you’re forcing me to buy it AGAIN?? That feels like thievery. Not only are the ads a bombardment at this point, but now I’m getting songs taken away. I still play this game because I love it, and I always hope it’ll get better, but this stuff just makes me want to give up and delete it off my phone.
I used to love this game and play it constantly. Even if the songs were at times slightly out of sync I still found the difficulty fun and the length of the songs to be very satisfying as an experience when I mastered them. In addition to the added safety net of the recovery system wherein you can recover just by getting perfects and hitting certain nodes, which makes the game nearly impossible to lose at, and the other safety net that just takes care of the next few notes whenever you miss one, it also feels like they shortened the songs from what they were originally. I'm not sure but I know that the song for my favorite, Yulia, ends before it gets to a segment that was once like 75% of the way through, and that part was my favorite. I just wish there were a hard mode or an original mode where you can revert things back to how they were, with fixes on the desync and bugs, but not make it a feature you have to pay monthly for, because that's a ridiculous thing to do for an iPhone rhythm game. It's still fairly fun, but it feels like a lot of good things were taken from this game :/
I’ve played Project Muse since about 2016 and I loved it. But now it’s not so great. I had payed the five dollars to get the VIP and now with the new updates, it was a waste of money because all of the songs are back to being locked. It’s totally unfair for all of us who paid money to have the full version of the game get taken away. This should be fixed. I’m very tempted to delete this app because with every update, I’m more disappointed. With every update, more songs are released but they are locked. I’ve been playing this game less and less because of the amount of songs that are locked. It makes it not fun to play when I don’t have every song unlocked. I understand having songs locked because it’s motivation to play, but for us who payed to have the songs unlocked, it’s because we wanted to play them without having difficulty. Now it’s impossible to play knowing that my money was wasted because it’s all locked now. What’s the point of me paying the money for the full version with it all locked now? It’s saddening. This should be fixed. It seems like a lot of people are having the same issue as me. I want my vip back. I want to know that this WASN'T A WASTE OF MONEY.
So with the older versions this game was really fun. Had 4 lanes on easy mode which was a really nice prep for hard and it was overall fun. There were really long songs which were engaging to play and jam to. Although there were some bugs back then y’all got them fixed for the most part. But, not in the best way. I don’t know but some of the songs seem like shorter than before? Especially Yulia. She was one of my favorites and my favorite part was when the electric guitar kicked in. On 1x speed it was around 5 minutes long, which I loved because it was still really engaging to play. But, now it’s around 2 and a half minutes..... that’s a HUGE difference. Also, some other songs I suspect have done this because some of them I had the same “that’s not right” feeling, like it needed to be longer. I don’t understand why as the mechanics for longer songs worked the same as shorter ones. Another thing is that you removed 4 lanes from easy mode. I remember on Jessica and the original Claire both had bits of 4 lanes in the easy mode, but now it’s just gone. It wasn’t hard to do. It was still easy. It didn’t overstep the boundaries of easy and normal. It kept in those boundaries of easy and was a nice prep for normal and hard mode. And, it made the songs even more engaging as on easy mode you can get tired of the easiness, but on normal mode it may get overwhelming. But, having the 4 lanes on easy made us not lose our patience or want to give up and rage quit. It was really nice overall. This is all I really have to say for now, but with the way things are going, in the future there may be some more things to say.
I used to play Project Muse when it first came out. The beats would line up perfectly and the songs were really fun and challenging. Before it mattered when you tapped, since if it was offbeat you would lose a life. When they updated the game to have 3 lives instead of 1 I was happy, because I was able to get farther in all the songs but now you have ‘energy’ that you build up by getting perfects. The problem is it’s not that hard to fill it up completely and then you practically have infinite lives. Also, instead of tapping on the beat, you can spam each lane and get through the song. It only matters if you tap enough times, so this rhythm game doesn’t even require rhythm. And speaking of rhythm, the drums in the background always get off beat so it’s easier to play with the music off. One of their recent songs is actually someone else’s. Great potential for a fun, aesthetically pleasing game, but ruined by making it too boring and easy.
