Project Makeover is the peak of the 'meta-match-3' subgenre. It succeeds by making the renovation and fashion elements just as deep as the puzzles themselves. You aren't just matching gems; you are acting as the director of a reality show, managing egos and making genuine aesthetic choices for your clients.
The character writing is surprisingly witty, often parodying the very reality shows it’s inspired by. The variety of fashion items and furniture is massive, allowing for a lot of personal expression. While the match-3 levels can get challenging, the payoff—seeing your client’s confidence grow through a total transformation—is incredibly satisfying. It’s a polished, glamorous experience that is easy to sink hours into.
Addictive match-3 puzzles with unique obstacles
Extensive wardrobe and makeup options
Full home and workspace renovation
Engaging storyline with dramatic characters
Don't use your boosters as soon as you get them. If you can position two boosters (like a Rainbow and a Firework) next to each other, the resulting combo will clear half the board and almost guarantee a level victory.
When choosing outfits, try to match the client's personality mentioned in the dialogue. While you can choose any item, sticking to a cohesive theme often results in a more satisfying final 'reveal' sequence.
Yes, you can visit your friends' avatars and see how they have decorated their personal rooms.
I have been playing Project Makeover for almost 3 years. Yes, this game is very fun, especially with decorating and dressing up your avatar, as well with it being addicting and competitive against other players for prizes within the given timed challenges. With that being said, there are also faults/bugs that I have noticed a lot recently. For example, I have noticed from the past three timed events especially today, that even if you win 2nd or 3rd place positions the game will now “glitch out” and no pop up notification will notify you on winning the given placement prizes or not give you anything at all. Previously, you were issued half prizes for these positions..and now you’re given nothing. As for the game levels, there has been at times that I would swipe to get 4/5 of the same elements across in order to get a booster, and it will randomly, automatically switch my move into a regular 3 element/jewel clearing. I thought that I was seeing things at first, but from screen recording a match it actually shows the bug*. Regardless of the level of difficulty, the matches are all of a sudden more difficult due to some of these glitched out incidents/bugs in the game, and the game’s pattern will cause one to spend an hour or more hours on trying to complete only one match or force you to use gems in order to get to the next levels. Although this game is still a little fun; however, if these issues can be addressed and fixed it will be back to being a better and pleasant game.
Okay, so I have been playing this game for quite a while now. And unlike the other people who left reviews (that I didn’t read before getting immersed in this game, stupid me!) I have spent a boatload of money playing it. And now… I refuse to spend another penny. There isn’t anything new I can add to the other issues people have. The levels get more and more difficult and almost force you to buy “fake gold” to keep playing, or finally pass a level. I am sick and tired of playing the same level ad nauseam, because I don’t want to spend money. And this is on levels they don’t even say are hard. Or even worse “super hard”. It costs money for stupid things when it comes to getting through the make over and I have said as much in the “help” option. But to no avail, this has gone unchanged update after update. I don’t like some of the limitations on clothing and decor but overall I think those are the things that has kept me playing. I skip entirely through the drama. I have never even looked at a dialogue they have that is all drama. In fact I think it costs coins to use. Big surprise! The only reason I make an excuse to keep playing is because I have gotten so far and I have accrued a decent amount of things. And while I am at it, why in the world does it cost $60,000 to get to the next place on the map after I just saved $30,000 to get to the cheapest place. I don’t think I am long for this game. If I had any advice. Don’t bother. It is a money pit.
I usually don’t write reviews, but this game is quite possibly one of my all time favorite mobile games. I’ve been playing for a couple months now, and the reviews which say it’s impossible to get past the levels at a certain point or that you HAVE to spend money to win are incredibly wrong. I am on level 394, and I haven’t spent a cent on the game. Sure, some levels take a long time to get past but that’s the fun of the game, it would be boring if it wasn’t a bit challenging. The game has absolutely no ads, I haven’t seen a single one since starting and they reward you with diamonds occasionally so you can buy power ups and lives without spending real money. If you play it once a day, you can start a streak and they will reward you with power ups, diamonds, or clothing items for your avatar. They also have fun little mini challenges where if you win levels you can start the next level with power ups and the power ups increase as you win more levels. The storylines are great and the final reveals and makeover process is super satisfying. You can friend request people on the app, and once you have friends, you can send each other lives without it costing you any. Negative reviews on this game are incorrect, if you are looking for a game to just breeze right through, this isn’t it. Overall, I think that this is a good way to spend your time relaxing and I will keep this game on my phone for a long time. A big thank you to the developers for creating a game with no ads and quality gameplay!
I absolutely love this game (although the ads for it are definitely questionable lol). The game itself is very fun. The graphics are great and so are the game mechanics. I'd also like to point out my favorite detail, the lack of discrimination. I cannot tell you how many games I see like this where the character is plus sized and the main goal is to make them lose weight. Games like that absolutely disgust me, especially since they're mostly targeted towards a younger audience. Kids these days have so much pressure put on them to live up to what other people expect of them, and those "beauty" games don't help. This is one of the few games I've found where plus sized characters aren't encouraged to lose weight, and instead you focus more on hygiene and clothing, which is much more important than your size!!!! It makes me so happy to see game developers that don't want to push stereotypes onto young boys and girls!!! Speaking of, that's another detail that I like. The game includes both men and women, and people of different ethnicities! Most games I see are usually just white women, and I'm overjoyed to see more inclusion in the games that our youth play almost every day:) Keep up the great work developers!!!!❤️❤️ Side note: if you see this and are struggling with your body image, I just want to tell you that you are absolutely gorgeous. I know it doesn't mean much coming from a stranger on an app review, but I know what the struggle feels like. Don't let other people tell you who to be. Have a great day🫶🫶
First of all many levels are too difficult. Half of them are super hard and designed for you to fail in the end. You have booster’s that aren’t powerful enough to blast certain things. I agree with the other reviews it’s a money grab. It costs too much just to undress them it should be a one time price to remove all items and accessories from the client Buy the time you undress them wash hair clear pimples you have nothing. The drama part is useless. The team chat no one talks so I guess they’re bots. Events you can’t even communicate. The other characters pop up too much for me everything you push. You have hard and super hard levels when most are already super hard. I’ve spent money one time I won’t do it again. You even removed the option at the end of the game to get extra lives by watching a video now it’s in the beginning which doesn’t help but of course designed for a money grab. Fun game but if things don’t change I’ll be deleting. There’s too many other games. Just adding this to my review but I’m not hating on genders because I except everyone for who they are but the only thing I hate a problem with is putting makeup on the males that I’m given to makeover. And no option not to put lipstick and eyeliner on them. I think it should be an option for players who don’t want to put makeup on men. Now that I don’t think is fair.
This is a really fun puzzle game. The puzzles are challenging but not so difficult that it takes the fun out. The sound effects keep me engaged and the music is good too. What makes the game really fun and addictive compared to many other games out there is that there’s a reason to complete the puzzles. When you complete puzzles, you earn coins that are used to give each character a makeover and can also be used to update your own avatar and their home furnishings. You can also save up and buy vacation homes in various places. I love that I also get to design rooms for the characters, and the finished product always looks really nice. The graphics are fantastic as they are crisp, colorful, and detailed. Plus, there are NO ADS!!! It is possible to complete the levels without ever spending anything, but some are challenging and I will sometimes pay for gems to help out. But I never feel like I have to, like in some other games. Plus, once you get to a certain difficulty level, the levels don’t just keep getting more impossible. It skips around so some levels are easier and some are harder, which really ups the enjoyment of the game. There’s nothing more discouraging than un-winnable games, but this never has me feeling that way. Solving the puzzles requires strategy, thoughtfulness, and a bit of luck ;)
I played several Story games, then I played Plants vs Zombies 1 and 2, and I enjoyed them, but I am completely blown away by this never ending extremely addictive game. You play Match 3 for rewards, and I am past level 7,000, not counting the exclusive levels in between, of which there are 100s. I have wonderful conversations with my clique, we exchange cards, tonight we had an ugly sweater party, and you can join a clique, or form your own, it’s optional. There are a variety of contests and challenges, at least 3 or 4 at a time, there is the basic makeover, and then the limited time makeover. I have been playing for 3 or 4 years, and I own 15 properties that I can decorate to my heart’s content, and I have a huge wardrobe as well, I am always shopping, and there is always new stuff to buy and consider. If you like fashion, shopping, and decorating, this game is for you. My neighbor is also playing, and she is on level 1777 without paying a dime, she started about a year ago. I pay for the special trips, which are optional, because that is supporting the wonderful and talented developers, and because I get goodies I wouldn’t get otherwise. They also are very generous with the goodies. I have tried to add a second game but they always bore me after a few days. I hope to play this forever. I spend hours a day on it.
I really enjoy the concept of this game. But, it could be so much better than what it currently is. It needs at least five choices for each clothing item, hairstyle, jewelry, furniture, etc. It’s annoying to have to play to remove each clothing item at a time instead of all at once. The makeup is very similar instead of like having a natural, an exotic cat eye look, and different eyebrows, lipstick, etc. Many items cost too much, especially considering the games are too difficult without the extra help. I’d be more willing to watch ads for more points than to pay money. The drama is the most annoying. It’s forced and boring. What is it’s purpose? The team, including my avatar, should do a daily spin for the outfit they will wear for the day. It could be a 1950’s look and then modernized for the present. Each decade would have different styles to discuss and update, including makeup, hair and accessories. The game itself is too difficult, especially removing sunglasses. Sometimes the square is removed on the first blast and sometimes the green gingham square needs several blasts. It takes the fun out of it. This game is ideal for clothing store ads and even furniture and decor. When the bi g reveal is done at the end, the makeover character should be move excited to see their new space . The dialogue that fits their character and job is the best part. It makes them more real and it’s cute. I hope my long review has helped.
