Pocket Skate is a stylish, minimalist tribute to skateboarding culture. It sheds the complexity of titles like Skate City in favor of a toy-like, approachable charm. The art style—low poly with a bright, clean palette—is visually refreshing. It feels like playing with a digital Tech Deck, where the goal is simply to find a cool line and nail a sequence of tricks.
The controls are physics-based and require a bit of a learning curve to master the timing of ollies and flip tricks. It's not a deep simulation, but it captures the 'zen' of skating—just you, a board, and a smooth concrete park. While it could use more maps, the current selection is well-designed with plenty of rails, bowls, and ledges. It's a perfect 'waiting-in-line' game that provides quick bursts of satisfaction.
Smooth, gesture-based trick system
Stylized low-poly 3D graphics
Multiple unlockable skaters and boards
Free-skate and Challenge modes
Original lo-fi soundtrack
Timing is everything. Release your flip gestures while you are at the peak of your jump to ensure you level out the board for a clean landing.
Link tricks together by using manuals (balancing on two wheels) between jumps. This keeps your combo meter running and multiplies your score.
The game is a one-time purchase with all cosmetics and boards unlockable through gameplay.
Great little game. Fun to play, but the camera needs to be behind the user and far enough away to see ahead at all times. The dynamic camera setting doesn’t allow for this and the fixed camera setting is difficult to use controls with. Also, would be nice to be able to complete challenges during free skate. 5 stars otherwise.
I’ve played a lot of mobile skating games and this is the best one I’ve played by far. I played the demo and immediately bought the whole game with the intention to open up more maps, after opening up the Beach map I was pleasantly surprised by how simple the game is but how much I want to play it. The only things I’d want as a player would be a overall points option for free skate (I like being able to see my points on the tricks I do, but it would be cool to be able to see my total overall score while in free skate as well), and if there could be missions unlocked on other maps like the Park and the Beach I feel like that would open up a lot more for the game as well. I know it’s still early stages and you guys are probably working on other fixes and bugs etc. but those 2 things would give players a greater initiative to progress in the game. And also I’m looking forward to more maps because the style and creativity of the maps are great to begin with. All in all this game reminds me of my skate 3 days and would love to see how the game grows and develops with time.
This app is superbly designed for mobile devices. It has simple, elegant controls that make it perfect for people new to skateboarding games. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be challenging. It has enough depth to keep you engaged for quite a while. It has plenty of fun characters and a long list of tricks to be unlocked as you improve your skating skills. It’s not intended to compete with the super complex, high-end console skate games. It’s meant to be more accessible, for when you want a quick mobile skating fix, and I’ve been loving it. It’s got some minor issues that need fixing. Like sometimes it doesn’t register completed tricks. You might have to repeat the same trick 2 or 3 times in a row before you get credit for it, which can be frustrating when it’s a difficult trick. But overall the game is beautifully designed. The small file size is a reflection of how cleanly these 3D environments were coded. Everyone has features they’d like to see added to the game, myself included, but the more complex you make the game, the more you reduce its simple charm. Of course nobody would complain if new content is added in future updates. Definitely worth 5 bucks and 5 stars.
It’s just a good pick up game it’s like 40 seconds each round don’t take to long but there goals you have to do two challenges to acquire a trick point which gives you one trick with one trick point but there is only like ten tricks but there is also the same way to get characters and there’s like twenty of em you can customize your board player and freesmate all that suit I like it
Most of this is just my opinion but i don't like the controls. For me it took a really long time to get used too.I also don't like the characters. Only skinny jeans? I do really like how the game looks though. Great animation and graphics. Especially for a skate game, that are usually pretty mid. Just give us some baggy jeans please and you got a great skate game👍
This game is really fun and adds a definitely distinguishing style to skateboard games available on iOS. This takes what was done in pocket half pipe and gives a full experience, definitely a must try! The only thing I’d really like to see is maybe some controller support in the future, but as is it is an awesome edition to mobile gaming library. Great job Devs!
This Game is amazing, I was surprised. Hopefully y’all continue to add more maps that are larger and hopefully some events. I would also like to see multiplayer, some type of multiplayer Trick battle, to see who gets the highest point or something. But over all the 10/10 Plz keep adding maps and tricks in 👀👍
I really love pocket skate it’s amazing everything is just perfect the characters are sick the maps are awesome there is loads of tricks the only bad thing about the game is you have to pay for the full game which is disappointing but mostly worth it but overall amazing game Thank you developers
Pocket Skate is a charming skateboarding game made by Australian indie developer Peter Leary that dropped a few weeks ago for iPad and iPhone.
