Pirate Code is an action-packed naval combat game that pits players against each other in intense 5v5 PvP skirmishes. Featuring a roster of heroic captains—each with unique abilities like frost arrows or invisibility shields—and 12 customizable battleships, the game offers a deep strategic experience. Players can join fleets, hunt the legendary Kraken, and engage in maritime missions across beautifully rendered 3D maps. It combines tactical ship handling with high-energy arcade combat.

Our Expert Score

85/100

Pirate Code is a surprisingly robust naval combat simulator that manages to balance arcade-style fun with tactical depth. The 5v5 format is perfect for mobile; matches are quick enough for a commute but intense enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. What really elevates the game is the Hero system. Choosing a captain isn't just cosmetic; their unique abilities can completely flip the tide of a match if timed correctly.

The progression system feels rewarding. Between upgrading your hull and fine-tuning your torpedo volleys, there’s always a clear sense of growth. The graphics are sharp, with great water effects and distinct ship designs that make the 1.1GB install feel justified. My only gripe is that the 'lone wolf' experience can be tough against coordinated fleets, so joining a group is highly recommended. Overall, if you’re looking for a high-seas adventure that isn't just a basic clicker, Pirate Code delivers the cannon-fire and chaos you're looking for.

Seriously Good Fight On The GO!
Fri Mar 15 2019 Al-Hussein.GK

Read for real review here, if you’re looking for that one game to play almost on a daily basis then this game is for you, yes it does reward you for your quest completion by gold and gems though getting gems is hard but still doable for now at least, the game itself does have one drawback which is the match making process. Let me clarify that this game has been on the beta for too long now and players whom did joined earlier they have epic/super ships with levels 5-15 which is insanely hard for someone like me whom started this game over 5 months ago and still has a level 2 super ship only! Yes it can be unfair at some point but they claimed to have solved the issue which i can assume if solved the game would be perfect cause you seriously don’t wanna die with a 1 hit cannon from a guy and still think the game is fair lol, bottom line this game has much more potentials than most games out there. Just stick to you guts and enjoy kicking battle ships till they drown and hopefully the game will be worth your time. NB: this game is much more fun when played out by a group of friends together to harness the full potential of developing a great team combination like (league of legends and such games)

Great game but where are the events??

This is an amazing game and I’ve been putting quite a bit of time into it. It is actually really fun. It’s very addictive and keeps you wanting to come back every day. You can meet people to play with really easily and join teams or fleets. The graphics are pretty good for a mobile game and the options available are pretty dynamic. The only thing I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t seem like the developers come around often anymore. There are certain modifications or upgrades that require shells, but no events that are really dishing them out. I’ve heard from other people playing longer than me, that there used to be more events that would give out cool mods and shells. I am a pretty new player, but have invested a lot of time and effort into the game, so I would really appreciate being able to play it to its full capacity. There are still a good amount of regular players and we would love to see the developers put more time and energy into it for us. We love your game and we’re paying for it, so meet us halfway :)

Pretty Solid, But Some Server Issues
Tue Dec 04 2018 Beatlesrock1980

I’ve been playing a variety of phone games for a long time and I’m always a sucker for pirate-themed games so I’ve tried my fair share of those as well. I have to say this game is easily one of the most fun I’ve played in this genre. The graphics and art style compliment each other very well and the game is very visually appealing because of this. The controls are simple, but very smooth and responsive. Game matches are short for the most part (so far my longest matches take maybe 5-6 minutes at max), but very satisfying and there a couple of different game modes. I’ve unlocked the Capture and Escort game modes so far, but I’m only a level 6 so there may be more in the game I haven’t gotten to yet. There are a good amount of ships and captains to choose from as well which is nice and I’m hoping they continue to add more in the future. The only complaint I have so far is that there are some pretty consistent server issues. Multiple times have I been in the main menu trying to edit my crew or ships or even in the middle of a match and the game will disconnect and pull up a loading screen before finally reconnecting me to the main menu. The times this happened while I was in a match I lost all potential rewards/experience I had earned in those matches which was very frustrating. I have never had issues like this with any other phone or console game and my internet speed/connection is very good. I thought about deleting the game and reinstalling it to see if this fixed any of these issues, but I was afraid I would lose my game data and have to start over. Overall I’d give this game 4 out of 5 stars with my only complaint being the server disconnections. Definitely worth trying out though and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who loves pirate games.

Light-hearted Fun

This is actually a pretty entertaining game. Oh, sure It has some major kinks to get ironed out but the developer seems to be moving in the right direction. So far the ships and ship progression seem balanced and very well thought out. There are enough rewards available from a variety of sources to keep you moving along and the pace feels right. The gameplay itself is frantic but not overwhelming and I truly enjoy that the outcome of a battle is never certain until you see the victory screen due to some really good battle design. Could use some more maps and a greater variety of map feature such as rock arches or reefs. And there are some bugs that definitely need to get squashed. Five stars though. Fair winds and following seas.

Pay to win game which relies heavily on the use of micro transactions
Sat Oct 19 2019 GKT26

This game is 100% pay to win. It’s always been a game that relies on the use of micro transactions to progress quickly, but until recently this wasn’t a big problem. Ever since the new update which includes a monthly season pass for $10 the game officially became pay to win. It’s a shame because even with micro transactions there was the ability to earn everything with time. Now there are items that give you 4 to 10% increases in stats but are only available via voyage (season pass) or through gems which cost money to earn. Whats even more pathetic is that on top of the season pass there is also a VIP pass which cost an additional 10$ a month for a tiny amount of gems and gold coins slowly distributed to you over the course of a month. The update also includes several other changes which have made upgrading boats even more difficult for free to play players. If your willing to dish out $20 a month or more just to be slightly competitive go for it. If your looking to earn all boats and have the ability to upgrade them only once plan on spending a minimum of $100. Fully upgraded boats will take 5 or more years to earn or several hundreds of dollars spent.

Great game

This game is my favorite mobile game ever but a few things I would like to change 1 nerf the crossbow I love using the crossbow but when you are at full health you should not be able to die to one auk with a crossbow and it makes it feel like if I use any other ships besides one with a crossbow it feels like I’m not doing anything. 2 I think you should have visual changes when you upgrade a ship it should have a change in look also because I think it gives players another reason to upgrade and it is like a little reward for your hard work.3 Game modes I love how there are different game modes as you progress but I think you should be able to switch between game mode because I live the merchant ship game mode but it gets a little repetitive after a while and I would like to go back and play the area defense. There should also be a game mode where you are able to just straight up battle where whichever team gets more kills wins because all the kill system does is get you mvp and I think it would be cool if it implemented in a different way.

FOR THOSE OF YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT PAY TO WIN
Mon Dec 21 2020 EdgarZone

Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of pay to win elements which are pretty much the norm with mobile games, but this one has the best f2p progression so far. Just from weekly ranking chests, you can earn 5-7 legendary components at 4000 trophies, and if you are f2p this is what your primary source of legendary components are. Other than this challenges give you a good source of gems that should be used to build a solid crew, either hp or reload based. While p2w players will have cosmetics that increase stats, as a f2p I have never encountered someone able to “one shot” any of my tier 5 legendaries gained only through the weekly chest, which also awards 100,000 coins that can be used to purchase the legendary component in the shop if you need it. All in all the game is good, but the devs are definitely focusing too much on releasing cosmetics to exploit the current whales paying money for the game instead of balancing changes and marketing

Fun but Buggy
Tue Dec 11 2018 possibly inconvenient

This game is extremely fun. I adore the combat system, the quests, captains, etc. But, it is really buggy. The app always crashes in the middle of a battle :( Well, it doesn’t crash, it just goes to the main menu. But the loading screen to go to the main menu never loads so I have to restart the app. Another thing is the fleets. They don’t do much. I’ve seen in other games that fleets or alliances are really helpful and fun to use, but these alliances don’t do anything. All you can do is make a team battle and ask for resources. In other games you can trade items or make a shop for your alliance to buy items. You can also share resources and stuff. I understand if some of these features won’t fit the game, and that’s reasonable. I just would like some variety of features for fleets. That’s all I have to say. I really hope that you fix a couple of these bugs! Thanks for making such a fun game! :))) - hanezeve
