Our Expert Score

89/100

Pines Peak is a masterclass in the 'cozy merge' subgenre. What immediately stands out is the atmosphere; the mountain setting isn't just a backdrop, it's woven into every item you merge. Moving from basic trail snacks to professional climbing gear feels like a genuine progression of a mountain expedition. The art style is soft and inviting, and the narrative bits—interacting with the local rangers and quirky tourists—give you a reason to keep merging beyond just clearing the board.

The game balances its energy system better than most. While you'll eventually hit a wall where you need to wait, the 'recharge' items and rewarded ad options feel less intrusive than in competing titles. The 'Souvenir' mechanic is a highlight, offering a secondary collection goal that provides meaningful gameplay buffs. If you're looking for a low-stress, high-charm game to play before bed, this is it.

It word be so much better if the hand wouldn’t insist on telling me where to tap and freeze the screen unless I tap on what it wants me to tap. it was fine while it was showing how to play the game, as if most who play this type don’t already know, but I already get it and it can stop helping me as long as I don’t hesitate for a long period of time. The game is not entertaining or fun if I’m having to see it constantly
