Thank you for playing Milo and the Magpies, we fixed some bugs in this new version!
Milo and the Magpies is a rare gem in the point-and-click genre that feels more like a living painting than a traditional video game. Every single frame is hand-painted by artist Johan Scherft, and the level of detail is staggering. You play as Milo, a charming cat trying to find his way home across nine neighboring gardens, each with its own unique personality and set of quirky human (and animal) inhabitants.
The puzzles are gentle but clever, focusing on environmental interaction rather than obscure inventory combinations. It’s a short experience—perfect for a single sitting—but it leaves a lasting impression through its atmospheric soundtrack and heartwarming narrative. There’s no pressure or 'game over' screens, just a pure, artistic exploration of a neighborhood through a cat's eyes. It is, quite simply, one of the most beautiful and relaxing games available on the App Store.
Stunning hand-painted art by Johan Scherft
Relaxing yet stimulating point-and-click gameplay
9 unique gardens to explore
Original atmospheric soundtrack for each level
If you're stuck, try clicking on different animals or objects in the background. Often, causing a small distraction like scaring a bird or moving a garden tool will clear a path for Milo.
The gameplay focuses on observation. Players must find specific hidden objects or trigger sequences of events across 9 distinct gardens to progress the story.
The game is a short, curated experience that typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes to complete, making it perfect for a relaxing break.
A really sweet and fun game. It’s a bit short but the puzzles are engaging and original. It’s not like any other puzzle/escape game I’ve played. Much of the puzzling is figuring out what exactly is required, and there was a lot of exploring and interacting with the environment to find the solutions, but it’s all there if you look carefully and try different things. And like every game, once you get a sense of how the dev thinks, it all opens up. Each time I found a solution it was so satisfying, and the stunningly beautiful artwork makes it a pleasure to spend time in this world. The music is also wonderful. Well done, dev! I hope you’re at work on your next game. 😀 Now I have to go play it again to see if I can find more secrets.
This game is fabulous! My husband & I started playing it this evening & we couldn’t put it down. Chapter after chapter had us enthralled & intrigued. The puzzles are so much fun! A couple of times we were tempted to cheat & look for a walkthrough but then my hubby figured it out so we didn’t need to. We sat & pondered & thought & wondered & finally figured each chapter out. The only complaint I have is that now we’re going to bed way later than we intended! WHAT A GREAT GAME. Thank you very much to the creators. (We’ll be playing it again just to get the “secrets” in each chapter, as we didn’t find them all). Wow…we had such fun!
This game is fantastic! Beautiful art style and relaxing music. The puzzle difficulty ramps up a bit towards the end of the game but never gets too crazy. The game is not very long. A single playthrough will probably take you 1 to 2 hours at the most. However, the quality of the game and the price make this an easy buy in my opinion. Point and click games like Pajama Sam and Spy Fox were a big part of my childhood so this game feels very nostalgic to me. Highly recommended.
The ultimate compliment: I just want more! Such clever puzzles with such entertaining results. There’s no hand-holding, you’ll have to tap around a lot and experiment, but the puzzles are logical and not too difficult. The art is utterly charming and I laughed out loud on many occasions. It’s hard to find gems like this amid the mass of f2p junk out there, and I’m so glad I got to go on this adventure with Milo (and the magpies!).
I enjoy point and click puzzle games. The music and art of this game are so much classier than most, like a humorous short film. The puzzles were challenging and I enjoyed the humor as well. I only wish it didn’t end so quickly. I hope there are more adventures for Milo. I also prefer to pay for a game and not be bothered to buy things in the game.
First of all, very enjoyable game. Simple yet unique concept. The element that really drew me in was the music. It made the game feel like a Wes Anderson film. Also, ever since I started playing Rusty Lake games, I’ve gained an appreciation for games that utilize hand drawn graphics. Thank you for this beautiful little work of art. Please continue to grace the world with more.
This was a really fun little puzzle game to play! The graphics are really cute and the story is sweet. Some of Milo's antics and the way he appears is so cleverly cat-like! And I enjoyed the other quirky characters. Probably better played on a bigger screen than a phone but still enjoyable. Only complaint? Too short!
it's a nice game at first glance but a few issues begin to emerge as you go along - some dialogs are a bit crude - sometimes nothing happens even if you keep tapping, or an action gets stuck and you can't reset or restart to try again - it gets frustrating - the flow is just slow and doesn't feel natural - takes the fun out of playing a game
