Interloper is a fast-paced, first-person space combat sim that feels like a modern tribute to classics like X-Wing or Colony Wars. On mobile, it manages to deliver a sense of scale and speed that is rarely seen, with dogfights that feel genuinely dangerous. The touch controls are intelligently mapped, though it truly shines when played with a controller.
The mission variety is excellent, ranging from stealthy reconnaissance to massive fleet engagements. The 'roguelike' elements—where you scavenge parts from fallen enemies to upgrade your ship—keep the progression feeling meaningful. It’s a graphically intensive, high-octane experience that proves mobile devices are capable of delivering true, deep space-combat simulation.
High-fidelity 3D space environments
Deep ship customization and upgrades
Challenging, mission-based campaign
Support for MFi and Xbox controllers
When taking fire, double-tap the shield icon to reroute power. This provides a temporary boost to your rear shields, giving you enough time to pull an evasive maneuver and turn the tables.
After a battle, don't immediately jump to the next zone. Fly through the debris of destroyed capital ships to find rare blueprints and engine upgrades.
The game is mission-based but features large, open combat zones that allow for significant exploration and tactical freedom.
I’ve been really enjoying the controller support. Makes me feel more comfortable on harder missions. Until the game crashes…I can play easy missions just fine. Once I go into a medium, the game almost always crashes after clearing a few waves. I once got to the very end of a mission, into the perk selection screen, and the game CRASHED. I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro, graphics turned down to low, FPS at 30, enemy indicators set to radar only. This shouldn’t be happening… There’s something goin on with the rail gun too. Every time it fires the screen jerks out and back in. Very disorientating, and I have screen shake set to zero. I paid the full price for a game that just crashes every time I play it, and I can’t even enjoy the true potential of the graphics because that’ll just make it crash faster I feel like. Very frustrating. Please fix. I want to love. I want this to be my go-to controller game.
I’ll keep it short. All carrier capitol ships are broken. The ship doesn’t load right, and dies almost immediately. It has to targetable hit box. This causes a soft lock, and makes it so you can’t complete certain missions at all. And, Ships just… take damage? Seems like it happens when they are far away. Finally, if you escape a combat trial, and click on the “claim items” button, you get the “Threatening Lance Beam”, with the description in Latin and the stats maxed out at 12,000. You can’t claim it though. Other than that, cool game! Also, could you change combat trials a bit? It’s biased towards the AI. Even if you win, their weapon shots can still kill you, and it counts it as a loss. Like, I can win, but the railgun shots still there. And it hits me and I die, losing the match I should of won. Final thing I promise. Missiles have no hit box when fired, making close up fights harder so the missiles just circle the thing I fired at. Lances don’t hit at their farthest range, even when pointed straight at a frigate. Or it’s just the frigates. Have a great day, and good luck! Edit: Seems fine now. Pretty good job, and I hope you haven’t burnt out doing all these updates.
Latest Update (the developer keeps updating the game 😁): Now it’s awesome! The tutorial works, but I’ve kinda got it now. Definitely a 5 star game now. Update: quick developer response, still have high hopes. Discovered that by inverting the axis and pitch/yaw controls (something I never do, but it helps here) I can actually get somewhere with the game. I’ll keep at it... I really want to enjoy this game, but the tutorial appears to be broken so I’m a little lost. I get to the point where it tells me to push the throttle to accelerate, which I do, but the message just stays there. So I fly along, eventually find something to kill, auto guns take it out, and I still have the instruction to accelerate. After about 20 minutes of that, I bailed on the tutorial and tried figuring it out myself. Not much luck there. Bumble around, auto-kill anything that gets in your sights until some missiles take you out. I’ll keep at for awhile, but if that’s all there is I don’t see myself playing this much.
Firstly, this is one of the more entertaining FPS games that I’ve played and certainly worth the money. The graphics are a little rustic, but in my opinion that only adds to the character of the game; straightforward and action packed. Secondly; I think there are many things that this game could include, but doesn’t. But it is a recently released game and NO game produced by independent developers is complete upon release. My first suggestion is adding a third utility slot. On the easier game runs, I’ve been destroyed within seconds of warping into the battle by missiles, plasma bombardments, and enemy fighters. Even after using a shield boost and repair upgrade. Having an afterburner or warp utility upgrade is necessary in all battles IMO, leaving only one other utility slot for other essential upgrades. Adding an additional slot, I think, would help balance the game. Also, there is a bug on some transport missions, that causes the transporter to get stuck on an asteroid. Thanks for making such an awesome game!
Both of the main issues I listed below were fixed. Thank you! You’re really fast with the updates. Watch out for power and feature creep man! Original review for context: The big issue first. The game does not save, at least for me. Once the tab gets closed, either purposely or the game crashes, you lose all progress and are booted back to the tutorial all over again. The other thing is the lag once you get decently far in the endless mode, which made me crash once I warped out. But those are my only major problems with the game. Everything else is absolutely fantastic! When I first got it I played the daily missions given over and over, they don’t get old fast. It’s just the no saving that makes this review. Not fun losing your items and having to get them all over again. Unless it’s a rouge-like but I’m not sure that’s what this game is.
First of all, I really like this game. Unique, immersive, and intense. I downloaded it not too long ago, but I have already encountered some bugs. Edit: A few hours after I wrote this, the developer released an update for the game and addressed many of the concerns. (ADDRESSED) Sometimes the game would just end unexpectedly, leaving me confused. It doesn’t reward loot either when this happens. Sometimes I get stuck in warp, and I have to restart the game. This also leads to me not getting any loot. (ADDRESSED) I think there should be some sort of “mission report” at the end of every game. It would make dying a little more apparent, instead of just getting thrown back into the menu. Along with that, I think there should be some form of pilot progression, where the player can earn XP for their efforts. At the moment, it doesn’t feel like progress if I get bad RNG and end up with no good loot. Like maybe when the player “levels up”, they get some minor stats and perks. Some confirmed progress would be helpful. I know this is a long response, but this game has so much potential. It’s perfectly set up for multiplayer too, but if you decide to add multiplayer, please don’t take away players’ loot if they die in MP. It would discourage the mode too much. Thanks for reading this and I hope you decide to implement some of these suggestions.
Gotta re-write this review because the updates really saved it for me. I love the inclusion of more progression between runs. Specifically, the pilot perks are game changing and it keeps me playing. I highly recommend messing around with the game controls. I find myself toggling the “Yaw/Roll” and “Drift Style Flight” options regularly to change up the experience. The only negative aspect of the game is still performance and heating on higher graphics and frame rate settings, but it’s no longer an issue for me with the added lower graphics settings. All-in-all, it’s become a well crafted game and you can easily see the passion and care put into every detail. Hope it continues to update in the future. I know personally I would buy ship and pilot cosmetics just to support further feature development.
Mechanics are superb. Flying and fighting feels natural and the controls are very intuitive. The UI layout in combat is simple, but not lacking in versatility at all. Very appealing to the eye and fun to use with one hand or two; not to mention landscape or portrait being changeable on the fly. I’d say, for me, the best aspect of the game is the immersiveness. I love love love the haptic feedback. From the guns to using boosters, getting shot at, or even activating that warp drive you get to feel all of it. Mixed in with fantastic well placed audio cues and stunning visuals...... Welcome to *THE* space flight combat simulator. (Don’t pass it up) Edit: I reported a few bugs and even left some out. The developer was caring enough to reach out personally and assure me that a fix was on the way. Within a week or two, they got the game working fantastic. Can’t find a problem now. From 2 stars to five and well deserved. OldProblem long since FIXED: Many things i love about this game. But the one thing i hate is how its broken :(. I run iphone x and when i reach those final waves with many entities spawning and bullets everywhere my game drops to like 2 fps. Happy bug hunting. Ill be waiting. I wana ENJOY THIS GAME!!! >_<
