Fun to be had, more to be seen?

This is a fun game. I’ve been playing for about two weeks and finished the solo content in less than a week. Progression felt really satisfying without huge paywalls or time gates, and I appreciate that. Since they respected my time, I rewarded them with a purchase. The ad scorcher deal is definitely the way to go - unlike some games, it actually removes ALL the ads and you get all the benefits (i.e. resource generation becomes 4x for “watching” ads) I rate this 4* because there are some problems with the game that detract. For me, #1 is the adventures. They continually scale up with no way to remove or reset them, so you are unable to run adventures 90% of the time until you level up a hero. Then you can do two more before getting stuck again. This directly affects event scores b/c you can’t get adventures that boost your score, and events are the only thing for me to do right now. It’s feast or famine with this game and Codigames’ reputation of abandoning their games early precedes them here. I’m crossing my fingers it’s different this time.

Love this game

This is the second review i’m writing, felt it necessary after the last few updates. The developers actually read reviews and support issues through the app, considering this is a free to play game you really couldn’t ask for more. A couple ideas I have to make the game a bit more interactive through the social side of things: friends should be able to see your rankings in the weekly event, might encourage a bit of friendly competition. Another thing is with trading I think that the trade limits are a bit low, 5 trades a day doesn’t really inspire people to make more friends, especially when what we can trade is so limited. It would be cool for people to be able to trade hero cards (maybe not legendary as to put some type of a limit on that, make people want to do the weekly events etc.) but for lower tier hero’s, or we should be able to choose the amount of items we want to send. Like if people have a surplus of purple scales or gems from their mine, they could send more in return for a card they really need. Just an idea, love the game and the many updates that have come out in the few months since I have started playing!! It would also be nice to have astral essence a bit more balanced, it seems that a lot of late game players are having an issue with getting enough essence to upgrade hero’s specifically.

Good but greedy

So to start with the good, the game itself is so fun! Heroes to run DnD style dungeons with, heroes to run your castle, a village you need to also build to progress around the map. Overall, a very well made game! The way you obtain resources with the eyes is very unique. But overall, the game is too greedy. First off it’s $20 USD for the no ad experience. That’s way too much, it should be 10. Especially since you’ll spend more time watching ads than playing the game because the resources you obtain from watching the ads are not just good, they’re vital. It’s $5 USD just so you can go offline for longer than 2 hours. All quality of life is locked behind money and none can be obtained through playing the game. On top of that I only have been through 1 event, but it was one of the biggest P2W events I’ve ever seen. The resources gained from the free version of the event are awful and even if you do pay for the premium resources you need to put more money in on top of that just to get enough out of the event to make your money worth it. So overall it’s an enjoyable game to play if you have some money to spend. If you don’t, I suggest finding another game. And even if you have the money to spend I’d find a different game because feeding into the greed doesn’t help.

Has Potential but lacking content

I enjoyed this game for the firsr few weeks I played. I enjoyed the graphics of it. I also liked how they implemented the starting over mechanic you often see in idle games. It’s not that you’re starting over, just starting to build a nee town. The old one is stil contributing to your coffees. However, it’s very easy to beat all the maps. And the weekly tournament gets way too repetitive. I stopped playing for a while. When I checked back in, I got a notification about an update. Awesome! Except it only changed some of the side aspects to the game, nerfed your ability to make gold, and didn’t even add any new maps. Without more maps, there’s not really any point to play. I’m not a game developer so I cant fully understand all it takes them to design a new map, but Idk, I feel like it shouldn’t take this long to create new maps for this game. Currently the maps all seem to involve a story but I really dont care about the story. It’s unnecessary for the game, imo. All im looking for is some mindless game i can play when Im bored away from home or on the toilet. Some game that gives me an illusion of progress. It’s not like im gonna choose to play this over PC/Console gaming when I have access to those.

2.1.1 update broke the game and made me delete the app.

I had a fun time playing the game, the progression was good and I felt like I was actually achieving something. Instead, this newest update broke the game and I’ve deleted the app for good. For one, the save progress continuously is being reset. I spent 20 minutes waiting around and updating, only for the progress I made to be reset and I had to do it over again. I never had this problem before the reset, yet now it’s a consistent issue. This also broke the Tithe feature, as I didn’t receive my daily Tithe yet the timer had reset. The second issue is the consistent nerfing. I get they want the game to be balanced, but they’re overly reliant on needing ads to get the items you need. However I had invested lots of gems and materials into the upgrades, yet they were snatched away and nearly all of the progress I had invested was removed, making the game more grindy and pushing it closer to an idle game that requires more checking in, which is contradictory to the title. The UI changes are nice, but before everything was laid out in a nice format. The new format is nice, but unskippable animations, multiple submenus, and a decrease in rewards makes it not as user friendly as before. It was a fun game but I won’t be returning unless something changes.

Good game with potential

I’d give 5 stars but there a few problems I’ve run into. It’s a good, simple, relaxing idle town builder game that feels pretty balanced overall. But a few things as of late have been bothering me. First, I’ve closed the app (gone idle) a handful of times this past week and come back to find out that my progression from the previous session is gone. I’ve upgraded buildings and spent resources only to come back to see my buildings reverted back to their previous ranks but all my resources I spent where gone. This includes diamonds and gems. I usually always close my app when I’m done but I’ve noticed this bug numerous times now. Second, this is clearly a fairly new game. This isn’t as much of a problem but they still don’t have a lot of content. The single player map is not built out yet so I’m constantly waiting at the latest village hoping that the next one gets added soon, leaving me with nothing to really do unless there is an event. As part of having little amounts of content, their weekly event is the same thing over and over. They have been upgrading it which is nice but it is kind of stale doing the same event over and over. Lastly, the event also gets buggy. I haven’t been able to access the current event, so now I really have nothing to do. But this game is on the right tracks and it can be enjoyable if you like these types of games!

Updated review

I revisited the game after a while and decided to update my review. I left the old one at the bottom. There is a good amount of content. With ad-free purchased (which you can get for $10 in a bundle) you can sit for hours and just play the game. If you are regularly collecting the bard rewards, you hit critical mass so you can keep the two builders busy and have adventures and upgrades to do in between building. It is a good clicker game. Old review: It seems like a nice game, but too slow and not really playable without paying a lot. It seems like the master pack (~$50 on sale) is pretty much the exact set of upgrades it needs to be playable. When I can get a new AAA game for $60, I really can’t justify $50 for an idle app. Comparing to other popular idle games, something in the $10-$25 range would be more reasonable. I’m moving this game to my “maybe try again a year from now” folder in case the developer gets the price down.

Update made the unplayable, $$ leeching

I loved this game and was playing it daily. It made me happy. I purchased in game packs that were helpful to by pass ads. I would buy a premium pass to get the new hero cards in the weekly events. I was happy to do so because I could actually get the heroes in the event and was worth the money spent. I’m so upset, they put out an update this week that made the game unplayable. The resources needed to upgrade any buildings in the town are 10x more expensive, leading players to need to buy more stuff from their real money shop just to play it like normal. Then, with the weekly event, I purchased the premium pass for $10, and wasted all of my money spent because they made it too hard for anyone to recruit strong enough soldiers without paying more real money to fight on top of what was already spent. I’m not doing it. I already spent like $30-$40 on this game where I could have purchased a game in store that doesn’t have these stupid in game purchases. So shameful, they made these changes just to make more money.
