Hole Stars brings a refreshing, fast-paced twist to the popular arcade-puzzle genre. Players guide a expanding black hole across vibrant grid layouts, scooping up items of various sizes while racing against a ticking countdown. Starting small with tiny everyday items, your void consumes objects to grow larger, enabling you to swallow massive obstacles and clear the entire board. Featuring ASMR-inspired audio feedback, smart level boosters, and competitive leaderboards, Hole Stars combines casual arcade satisfaction with satisfying strategy.

Our Expert Score

78/100

Hole Stars takes the endlessly satisfying consumer-void concept made popular by casual arcade titles and coats it in a shiny, high-production polish. The tactile thrill of watching your hole swallow small coins and office supplies before growing massive enough to engulf vehicles and furniture never really gets old. Coupled with crisp tactile vibrations and soothing sound design, it hits that classic 'brain massage' sensation that makes mobile games so irresistible during a quick coffee break.

However, Moon Active's heavy monetization model does cast a shadow over the experience during extended play sessions. As you progress into higher level tiers, strict countdown timers and aggressive obstacle placement make non-boosted runs feel tightly tuned toward resource exhaustion. Forced ads between levels can disrupt the otherwise relaxing flow unless you opt into microtransactions. If played casually in short bursts, Hole Stars is a delightfully polished spatial puzzle game, but hardcore players may find the free-to-play paywalls frustrating.

Fantastic game

I’ve played lots of hole games and this one is by far the best. I downloaded as part of a Freecash offer and I’m glad I did. I’ve completed just under 100 levels so far and I downloaded it yesterday, the power ups are super helpful, the mini games are fun too. I love that each level is different and you aren’t playing the same map over and over again. Some levels are a little challenging but not so hard that you can’t complete them. The graphics are beautiful and the entire app is extremely well thought out. My goal is to complete 3400 levels in 89 days and I definitely think that’s doable. Love this game!

Money grab

Would be a great game if it wasn’t for the rampant greed that every game developer has nowadays. You don’t HAVE to purchase anything, but you won’t make much progress past a certain level if you don’t. They make the first few passes of the upper levels impossible to get in the time limits/all of the obstacles on the first try, expecting you to purchase more coins or power-ups to get through them. They add so many ways to end your level that you can’t get around without taking your time which they don’t give you enough of obviously. Once again, greed. Whatever happened to games you could buy (ONCE!), play and enjoy. Nope, now you have to have a subscription, pay to win, buy extras, etc. There’s no gaming for fun anymore. Don’t bother with this one unless you are doing it through one of those apps that pay you to test games. Even then, don’t spend YOUR money on it. Play for a few levels and then when it gets impossible, delete it. These companies aren’t taking pride in their games anyway. It’s just a money grab. Do yourself a favor and find one of the few games that isn’t going to inundate you with ads or require you to spend tons of money to succeed at it.

The forced ads are unbearable

Would be a good game. I enjoy it when I am actually able to play it. The forced ads are UNBEARABLE they are pretty much CONSTANT, trying to force you to download another dumb app or game in between every single round, and it is sometimes literally impossible to close out of the ad even after waiting a minute and going through the multiple pop up attempts to get you to install it. It's just ridiculous. Some of the ads I literally could not figure out how to close out of them, I ended up just giving up after a while Because I'm trying to play hole stars here, I'm not looking to try and make "free cash" playing some other game that is being literally forced onto me. The tricky ads and pop ups and the forcing you to like play the advertised game and then redirecting you to the App Store ... it's so off putting. Really had to just make sure to put this out there before I uninstall this game for good. The game was fun, and if you're cool with spending money on it then hopefully you won't have all the ads forced on you? But if you're trying to just play the game for free, good luck to you

Really like but

I actually really enjoy this game but what’s disheartening and annoying is the constant ads when I’ve played several other moonactive games that do NOT have ADs. And I’m not one to purchase ad free options. Plus if yall can do it for other games why not this one? Also those temu ads are annoying bc even when the X appears it will click like I’ve clicked the ad which I haven’t. I’ve pressed the X and it’ll open in my browser then I’m out of the game and have to do it 3 more times before I can get back to the game. Even though the X appears I wish this was one of the games they did without ads bc I actually have a ton more fun than the few other games I’ve played. This game is fun and soothing in a weird way. I don’t feel as stressed playing it like I do other games. I also feel it is a bit challenging but I really like it.

Went ad free and then…

So I’ve been playing a lot I meant a lot. The game design is beautifully done, the colors and each level is different. I was investing so much time I got tired of the ads so I went ad free and when I did….worse mistake ever. I was getting reward videos so I can continue a level even if I made a mistake now I rarely get them. I absolutely regret going ad free. I was going through the levels so quickly and hadn’t lost a game in 100+ then I accidentally swallowed a dumb bomb and when I did the window popped up and instead of watch this video to continue….they wanted me to spend 800 coins which meant I needed to buy more coins which happens every time now….no option to watch reward videos. so it seems as soon as you go ad free they realize you are invested and stop your reward videos. Sooooo freaking disappointed

Fun but need something to change..

This game is really fun if im being honest, but... Creators, you need to change something. Why is there a timer on this??? Why cant we take our time and play normally?? I know, some other people might disagree but.. PLEASE just make a game mode that makes this game not have a timer. Just so the people who like being challenged, can be! And the people who want to take their time, will be able too! Can we just make a mode in this game where there is not a timer whatsoever. This game is really fun overall though! Just... Make that game mode! Please! (Btw this is my opinion of this game it doesnt have to be yours)

Love the game….but

Let me start by saying I absolutely love this game. As far as hole games goes this is the absolute best and it’s not even close. BUT, it’s the money grab that brings it down. You bet 8 lives which is fine but there’s literally some boards you only have 1:00 to clear. So you burn through those lives quickly. At one point you could back out and come back and it would give you 3 more lives. They apparently patched that. So now I don’t play it as much. I would buy the hole pass everytime if it allowed me to back out and get 3 lives. I would play it daily if that was the case but it’s not. Once the 8 lives are done the fun ends. You have to wait forever for all 8 lives to reset. It’s a shame cause the game itself is an absolute blast.

Pretty fun

However I get super annoyed any time I finish a level because you have to wait for all the animations for the rewards you earned to finish flying around before you can do ANYTHING. I get that if you don’t want to pay for the game then you’re gonna have to watch some ads. It’s frustrating but I get it. What I don’t get is adding useless animations that you can’t skip. I’d give 5 stars if that function was not a mandatory watch. I’m going to have the rewards regardless so why must I be forced to watch them be put into their assigned place? It’s just one of those things that makes me irrationally irritable.
