Addicting, but paywall is frustrating

(EDIT): After playing for a few months, I don’t think their paywall is as frustrating. I paid for the runners pass once and it was nice—but not necessary! Coins and gems come a bit easier after their new update, which I highly appreciate! I’m also really enjoying the events where you can obtain skins for the animals and extra event points. Also adding animals every so often has kept the game exciting and fresh! Keep it up, DirtyBit! :) I’ve played the original fun run back when I was in middle-highschool. It’s always been a game I’ve loved, but I haven’t played it for years until now. It’s very addicting and fun! I love the fast pace and simplicity of game play. It looks a lot more polished now than it used to. However, there is a paywall for a lot of the content which is very frustrating. You can’t get alot of coins/gems just from playing. Unlike games that reward you for just playing and winning, you only really get EXP and event tokens after playing rounds. You will have to play numerous times before being able to actually unlock anything. I highly suggest they make it where it is easier to get coins and gems. Creating daily chests, winning bonuses, coin bought chests, etc., is a great way to do that. I also suggest they make more features for the clans, because where it’s at right now, they’re kinda useless. Yes, it’s a nice way to gather friends and other players, but there’s no real practical use for it.

Okay so I would like to start by saying I love this game and it’s super fun and challenging but I do have a few suggestions. 1) more player / animals , I know you are adding one more and that would make 12 animals total but it sort of gets old using the same animals over and over again. For example, in brawl stars they have hundreds of characters/players to choose from so it makes the game more fun and interesting because of all the different powers and possibilities. 2) I know you make your money when people by gems but maybe new player should start with at least 25 gems to get the hang of things. 3) COINS ARE TO HARD TO GET ! I have been stuck on level 6 for years because I can’t get 5,000 coins to level up to level 8/9 please consider elongating your player past 30 because it would help a lot (even if you just move it to level 50) Lastly 4) new maps : you switch out maps every day yet I feel like I am in the twilight zone because they look absolutely the same own just has more jumps than the other. Referencing back to brawl stars they have many maps and game types ( like stampede and such) . It gets a little old just playing dash and duo and every now and then a special level here and there. I know this is a lot to consider but I think it is definitely worth a try ! Thanks bye

I love the game but there’s a few features…

I like this game but there’s a few features that just ruin it for me, I hate the fact that if you disconnect from a match you lose a lot of points. For someone like me my connection isn’t the best so whenever I disconnect over and over it just makes the game unplayable. It really just makes the game completely not fun. And I also hate the fact that this game’s match making is so horrible, like I’d be playing my first match with a friend in duos and the first person I go up against would have like 2000 medals and played with their friend in 450 games. So yeah I think the game needs better match making and for if you disconnect you won’t lose points, at least have it so if you disconnect in the first 10 seconds you won’t lose points or if you disconnect in duos in the first 15 seconds your friend won’t lose points.

Honest Review of FR4

I’m pretty sure everybody agrees by now that there’s too many micro transactions in this thing. Overall, it just seems like it should’ve been an update to 3, but I actually like the racing in 4 too. It’s, well, fun. The huge glaring issue here though for everybody is that there’s just too many micro transactions. It just makes the game straight up unplayable at times, because you otherwise just get nowhere without spending money. It’s genuinely a dealbreaker that every cosmetic costs actual money, and getting coins is at best difficult and at worst, truthfully exhausting and impossible. Other games like Splatoon will reward you for playing in matches and will allow you to customize your character and unlock cosmetics just by playing the game. I’ve been playing for a while now and I haven’t even unlocked the lion, just because everything goes by so slow. A way to fix this, is simply just adding cosmetics that are rewarded to you for playing the game, and not just a few items. Everything that isn’t an animal is locked behind a paywall, and I’m not sure if that’s going to be fixed, but if i could actually buy things in the shop, then maybe instead of playing, say 1 match I’d play like 3-5 for example, on my way to school or with friends, and honestly I’d probably be more inclined to spend more money just to complete my character. But right now, this isn’t really the case, and it just doesn’t really feel like I’m winning when I get first place in this game.

Disappointed

I’ve been playing since Fun Run 1 has been out and I’ve played every Fun Run game up to this point. Switching from 2-D to 3-D must’ve wasn’t a bad move but Im disappointed by the lack of content that’s currently provided. I’m gonna compare it to when Fun Run 3 came out and that game literally has an arena mode. Also, the lack of cosemetics is insane compared to all 3 games before it. There are only like 10 animals compared to all the pervious games that had so many, including the gold skinned animals. This game doesn’t even have a fox, which is one of the most iconic animals in this series. You don’t even see a gold fox from players that were globally ranked #1. The thing I disapprove of most though is how much they made it a Pay-2-Play. I understand that most mobile games are like this nowadays but not even Fun Run 3 had this much of a paywall. You literally can’t earn gems at all and coins are only earned through battle passes (which cost gems). You can only earn gems by purchasing them with money and you can barely earn coins to upgrade your characters. In summary, this game lacks so much content compared to the games before it and puts any thing they can behind a paywall. Even Fortnite is this bad when it comes to micro transactions.

Terrible rewards system

The game used to be fun. I loved previous versions of the game. But this one? Awful. Not only are the characters hideous, but the rewards system is ridiculous. It’s obvious the devs just want players to purchase the season pass because they give u absolutely nothing to level up your runner. In the beginning it starts easy at like 200 coins I think? Not telling you how hard it is to get coins in the non paid track of the game. By level 6 you can’t even do anything because you need about 3500 and it takes forever to get that. Powerups are another currency that they rarely get you which makes the game pay to win. All the power ups after level 1 are 900 volts or whatever they’re called. So while u may be matched with players similar to your trophy level, if you don’t pay for the currency you will not win. Which brings me to my last point. The daily rewards are sawblades based on wins. Because of this flawed system it’s impossible to win after a certain level because everyone is paying for boosts. It’s so annoying. Definitely miss previous games

Good but could have more going for it

I really enjoy the game! At first it was odd because I have played all 3 of the other games throughout their runs and this one was different but it grew on me. The only thing I don’t like is how fast you run out of tokens and once you hit level 30 you stop getting rewards for leveling up so once you run out of everything for the day it’s kinda just racing for trophies which don’t get you ranked prizes like it used to. So you aren’t really getting rewards or benefit other than more trophies I guess? It’s hard to get coins especially since you need so many to level up characters or even buy new ones. I always have to wait like 5 days for more quests since I finish them all pretty quick in order to get the rewards. And I really miss the arena playstyle from the third game where if you win 12 times you get a chest with theme cosmetics in it, if they added that back it would make the downtime waiting on quests and everything else well worth it!! Other than that I enjoy the game :)

Okay, I have to rewrite my review because dirtybit SHOWED improvements. Improvements like not keeping us in the dark with news and actually making a news section. Although I’m still skeptical because this is only the beginning. Let’s see how consistent you guys are with news, let’s see how consistent new animals will drop, let’s see how consistent new power ups are, let’s see how consistent new maps and events drop. Because this content drought was intense. And it leaves the community with a touch of trauma. Thank you for giving a nudge to the right direction though. My only concern is that all my animals are all maxed out at level 10. Meaning my power ups are maxed out at 16 out of 21 power ups. There should be ways were you can get bolts without leveling up animals because I would like to have the other power ups to try new strategies. Please be mindful of this and fix something with in this realm as well.

There aren't many Norwegian game studios. But Dirtybit is a rarity, as it has put Norway on the map with Fun Run, an multiplayer racing game...
