Excellent game

I left a one star review (see below). Mobilityware was kind enough to respond with information including the fact that they do have a paid ad free version. I was puzzled because I couldn’t find it in the App Store. I had recently switched to a different iPad which I set up manually. In that process I unknowingly installed the unpaid version of Mobilityware’s FreeCell with ads. The unpaid version shares the same icon as the paid version in the App Store and on the screen. I couldn’t find a paid version because I had already purchased it. In the App Store both versions with the same icon both showed a cloud rather than a price. The problem was user error and I am that user. All I can say is it would be helpful if the icon or the text made clearer the differences between the paid and unpaid versions. Thanks Mobilityware. I am glad to be able to play the daily challenges without ads. May 15 one star review:I have used Freecell, Spider, Solitare and Jig Saw Puzzles from Mobilityware for several years. I love them all. The latest update to Freecell has video ads which MUST be watched to get to the game. That is unacceptable to me. I would much rather pay for games to get the option of no ads. To demonstrate that, I just paid over $5 for Brainium’s Freecell without ads. Mobilityware, please let me know if/when you give an option to pay for ad free software.

I don’t usually give 5 stars...

...but this game is simply awesome. I have improved greatly and I win much more often now because the game is engaging and entertaining. I love the fact that you can customize the background and card backs. The game controls are intuitive and easy to master, yet they also are comprehensive and don’t hinder the gameplay in their simplicity. I find the animations are a nice little reward when I win. I do have one small bit of feedback, though. I have made it to Grand Master level and every time I fill up the points bar, it shows a badge icon like there’s another title above Grand Master. There isn’t. I still love being able to see my points total, but I could do without having to clear that badge icon every couple of days. Like I said it’s a small bit, certainly not worth deducting a star, but worth looking into I think. Thanks for the years of great games and keep them coming!

I’ll gladly change my rating if this issue is resolved. I turned off all cookies, except necessary, then look for save button. The only thing obvious was prominent red colored “Accept all cookies” which i tapped before thinking. Now i can’t turn off the cookies. Really irritating since it’s obvious this was designed to fool people. If it weren’t, i would be able to reverse it all, but do think i can find the same link. Noooo. I loaded this on two ipads. They don’t sync up. i’m at level 32 on one ipad and left 0 on the other where i just downloaded it. BTW, i love the game. I’ve always been reluctant to pay for a game just to get rid of the advertising. Turns out, i enjoy the game much more than i would if i were constantly focusing on the irritating ads. Game is full of challenges which makes it fun to play. I don’t understand the scoring AT ALL. The change in levels is easy to understand - it takes about 800 points and you usually get a hundred or two each time you win. Why then does the game “score” show a completely different number. I’ve had over 30,000 score for a single game. The points for that high of a “Score” - probably 200.

Best FreeCell used to be

This is the best one I’ve found. I finally bought it. The free version had irritating ads. I put up with it for a while until I got tired enough to pay for the ad free version. It’s worth to me. Update: this “was” my favorite game for various reasons. My go to game. But then they did an update. I didn’t mind some of the changes. Though it was irritating to go in and have to reset up my preferences. But with this new version I lost what made this my go to game over the others. It filled the screen, taking away the time and battery level at the top. That’s why I played this game over others. I could keep track of both easily. With that gone, I am now playing something else during times I need to keep track. Too bad, it’s becoming less and less attractive for me.

Good game

I play Solitaire, FreeCell, spider solitaire, & pyramid every day, and they are all good games to challenge your mind, but I wish the developer would fix an annoying bug. Once you’ve won enough games the game will tell you that you’ve achieved a certain level. However when you go to the list of levels, that level doesn’t appear in the list and despite trying, you can never scroll down any further. I’ve reported it to the developer, but despite what he says about reading reviews, they don’t pay attention. I find that annoying. I do wish there was some consistency between the games about where the daily goals button appears. I also wish the developer would show the actual time in the upper corner like he does in one game. I often use the games to kill time before having to leave for an appointment. It would be nice to be able to see the time while playing, regardless of the game.

Play this game everyday! Do not change the interface!

I really love this game and I play it everyday. Sometimes passively, sometimes not. Question for the game developers: Sometimes I check my scores and notice that there are amazingly fast finishes, like 17-22 seconds fast. Considering that it takes at least a few seconds to “clear the deck” once the game has been won I find it extremely unlikely that even the best players can finish the game that fast. Is it possible to “ clear the deck” faster, and is it possible that there is some kind of cheating loophole or AI finishing these games so fast ? Please don’t ever change the way the game plays or looks, I really enjoy it. It would be nice to play some really challenging sets by picking a difficult setting.

Free cell review
Sat Nov 17 2018 statsmatter

I have been playing free cell for about 15 years so you may conclude that I like to play. Recently the game has been given another overhaul which included that removal of the statistics section which included the number of games won and lost by a player. This information was important to me as I have played in the area of 50,000 games and enjoyed checking my statistics from time to time. People, if it’s not broken why fix it? Regarding the game itself my comment is that after playing for a period of time the player knows how the game will play in specific situations. It is not like playing with a human who has the ability to think what your play means.

Irritating new animations can’t be turned off
Tue Jul 19 2022 Camilla and Mac

Free cell has added three impossible to turn off features that make the game so irritating that I have deleted it. Stacks of cards that can be moved are highlighted, visually obscuring the view of the entire board just enough to force the player to really concentrate. But this is exactly the sort of game one plays while doing something else - like watching tv sports. Suggested moves now also subtly pulsate distracting the player further. They don’t need to suggest that an ace can be moved - anyone knows that! and some of us attempt to win before playing any Aces to the suit piles so this useless ‘suggestion’ keeps pulsating. For people whop, any in the dark - say while your partner is sleeping next to you - the ultimate irritation is the little visual explosion if an Ace is moved to the suit piles. Not buying a game from this irritating game developer again.
