USER EXPERIENCE
• Added full support for iPhone X.
I personally think that Fieldrunners 2 is a great game! The gameplay is smooth, and the tutorial gives juuust enough info so you don’t feel like your hand is being held, but enough so that you sort of know what you’re doing. I have a few issues though, first the minor one: The tutorial shows EVERY TIME you play the first level, and should be able to be turned on or off. Now the real issue: Although the game is fun and all, for the casual player, you can’t fully beat the game. This player will only go on casual mode (or whatever the easiest mode setting is) throughout most if not all of the game. The issue is that you cannot fully beat the game like this. My idea is that the other mode settings are either removed (preferably not) or are optimized to be easier for the casual player. Also, this player won’t spend money to get in-game money, so maybe make items cheaper, as well as getting new turrets slightly easier.
I love this game, and have been playing it on and off for years. Every time I start it up again, I obsessively play through all the maps on endless mode for days. I’ve tried other tower defense games and none compare. iPhone X issues... I recently downloaded the game again, this time on my iPhone X. I’m not sure if the game is not optimized for iPhone X. •none of the purchase buttons work! I can’t buy new towers or items using coins I’ve earned. This is such a bummer because my favorite part of the game is playing around with all the new and interesting towers. •A sliver on the top part of the map is cut off. •When selecting a tower, the ‘home’ slide up function on the iPhone gets in the way and takes you to your home screen. Sometime this leads to misplaced towers •You can not place towers on the very edge of the map because it won’t recognize your finger placement towards the very edge of the screen. You can get around it if you zoom all the way in. I really wish they updated the game to work on iPhone X, continue to add new towers, or just release a new tower defense game altogether.
You don’t need any other games when you have this. Can’t tell you how many hours of life spent playing this. This is a strategic game with puzzles and mazes and guns. This is not confusing or difficult to learn. And it’s the best of its kind in this genre! Very brilliant game. Each level is different from the other and fun it their own ways. A game where you lay down weapons and kill little army men and tanks and planes before they reach the finish line. Build creative paths and have fun planning your weapons. Start with field runners one, and enjoy then play number 2. Number is my fav. But I liked playing in order.
I saw they finally added iPhone X support, and I was very pleased, until I realized it wasn’t fully supported. The tower icons are too close to the bottom, making you always leave the app if you get too close to the bottom. Some of the UI elements are cut off at the edges, as well as the notch at the top. I’ve also noticed that I can’t add towers to the very bottom row because my finger falls off the screen before the tower is on the bottom row. It’s a good update, but it honestly almost makes the game unplayable, with the exception of a few levels... honestly, they need to fix this app, and they need to come out with a Fieldrunners 3. I still love this game, and I really hope they fix it so it’s playable again.
Still by far my favorite tower defense game. The only issue right now is iPhone X/Xs support. Currently the game is playable and looks amazing full screen. But there are some little quirks. Specifically that your tower icons are too close to the swipe bar on the bottom of the phone. This makes you swipe to home or multitasking almost every time you want to use your Gatling tower. Which is the most common tower. Hopefully you guys can fix these issues. Could this is still one of the best games made for iPhone. As soon as it’s fixed this will become a five star review.
Last update was over 2 years ago to support the iPhone X, it may have worked then but I’ve played this game on and off for the past year and it’s still buggy and they won’t fix it. DONT buy any coins, you can’t spend them, the buttons to buy towers and items won’t work. It’s hard to place towers around edge tiles unless you zoom in and dragging towers from the dock causes the task switcher to activate. Now there’s another new issue that just started a couple weeks ago. The circle button in the bottom right corner when your on the World Map screen normally would show you news about events and such is now broken, instead of showing really old updates, it now shows a bunch of gibberish that I believe is PHP script.
If you have an iPhone X or newer, you will not be able to play this game. This is because you have to swipe up from the bottom of the screen in order to place your towers, and it will instead just swipe out of the game and into your multitask menu. Additionally, you will end up earning coins in the game, but you can’t do anything with them. Sure you’ll see towers you can buy, and Items to buy, but you can’t actually buy them with coins - the interface doesn’t work. I doubt these things will ever be addressed. I’m probably gonna try to get a refund.
The developers continue to take money for buying the application and have made sure their in app purchases work to pay them real currency for buying in game items like coins, however the developers have ignored multiple support requests from users. A critical bug in the game is that while they allow you to use real money to buy coins, the game will not let you use the coins. If you try to use coins you’ve earned/purchased the item will tell you that you need more coins although you have enough. Non-responsive developers and bad/deceptive business practices. At this point Apple should step in as they are allowing these developers to be paid for a broken and unsupported application.
