ONE SPOT

As a cartoonist I do not have a lot of time to play games. I leave one spot open on my main menu for one game. This has that spot. So why is it so great: 1. Supports offline play 2. Atmosphere: without saying or explaining a thing you are just there 3.Imagination: Images are present that bring to mind so many possibilities. It is like a good book. Creating “what ifs” in your mind. 4. Simple: Again for the time strained this a fun journey that uses basic mechanics, yet somehow feels so open. If there is a sequel, I want a plant for my room. It would be cool to pick up trophies to decorate your bedroom with. Last note: I would love to feature your game in a couple of comic strips. I have never offered this as I am trying to stay a way from “pop” culture but this feels timeless. Update: found my plant. Spoiler there is one in the game already. Just had to look Update No.2: I have finished the game. I have never been so eager at the end of a game for a sequel or additional content. I love the world they have created. I would be happy playing again just getting to chose color. Your guide color is red..maybe offer a green or blue. Ultimately , in the end this is my current favorite game and the only mobile game I have ever played to finish. Great Job! Far: Changing Tides, would love to see this on iOS.

Beautifullllll

I loved it! I can’t promise everyone will love it as much as I do, but I can tell you what I enjoy. I love games that create an atmosphere that can intrigue and relax me. This game did exactly that. The graphics are great, and the landscapes are so beautifully done. The music is FANTASTIC, and it lends either an adventurous or apprehensive spirit to the game depending on where you are. The story is vague without being distant, so you can still have some emotional connection to it. The gameplay is simple, and not especially challenging, which I enjoy because it allows you to focus more on the world in the game than the mechanics of the game. However, the experience of learning how to run your little ship all by yourself is still a very fun and stimulating one. The movement controls can be a little imprecise at times, but apart from that, this was an ideal game for me :) great work to everyone who contributed to it!

Nothing like this game is better

This game is absolutely beautiful. When I first saw gameplay I instantly wanted to get this game but I couldn’t get it but when I got it months after I saw gameplay. When I started playing it I was in love with this game then I stopped playing for a month and then when I played it again I was hit with so much nostalgia that I didn’t want to play so I took along break and finished the game I loved the ending so much that I almost cried and then I read all of the credits and wrote this review it has ad amazing play style and this game is just beautiful. I have ONE request tho… can you plz plz plzzzzzzz make a second game. If you could I cry from joy if you didn’t I would cry from sadness. And btw thx for no ads.

Gorgeous

The upon starting the game, the protagonist looks up from a grave, remembers a loved one who is gone, and then turns away towards a grand adventure. You do not go back. This game is all about what you do first: you solve a puzzle, travel a beautiful world accompanied by beautiful music and background noise, and find your mighty vessel. It looks odd and foreign- takes a little while to find out what all those buttons do- but once you start moving, you feel it’s power. That might vessel will guide you through peace anda as storm, through the most stunning locations, and dramatic disasters. It waits paciently while you solve puzzles and flys daringly down hills when you command it to. All in all, I love this game dearly. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Game

It’s beauty is quantified by it’s simplicity. Many parts of the game are maintaining your vehicle as you drive through various wastelands. That, coupled with the background music, makes it a wonderfully easy and soothing game to play. I bought it last night and finished it by afternoon today. Roughly 3-5 hours of gameplay, so not something that takes too much time. At first it was a little hard to grasp, but after the second pit stop it made more sense. Make sure you’re picking up items for fuel, but you will use your sails for a good chunk of the game so fuel moderation is easier than I first thought. If you mess up, you can load previous auto saves. Overall, I’d comfortably give this game 5/5 stars. Very much worth the few bucks spent!

Very atmospheric puzzle

Yes, it’s more of a puzzle then a simulation. Very beautiful and challenging enough to keep you fully occupied for few evenings. Also I love how they tell a bit of a story arc in backgrounds. Quite a pity it’s short, so I really hope for a sequel. I don’t play on my Mac anymore, so I had to wait till it comes out for iPhone and iPad. The latter is recommended. The game also supports controller, so if you have one - use it. Controls are no longer small, but the game involves a lot of jumping around, so it can be tricky. Also, a common drawback of games designed for desktop first — everything is tiny. Don’t forget you can zoom! Pinch with two fingers or use triggers on controller.

Perfect? No. But definitely worth it. Challenging? Yes, but easy enough to figure out everything without outside help. Yes, I didn’t figure out the steam, welder, etc. immediately, but that was my own fault for not being better at puzzle games. My only complaint is that some of the areas were a little too dark. Not that I couldn’t do it, it just wasn’t as enjoyable running around in the dark, especially since the graphics were so nice when you could see them. Anyway, to the build team I say, IGNORE THE CRITICS, you did an amazing job. I pay 8-10 dollars to go see a movie that lasts less than 2 hours. This was just as good as any movie and lasted twice as long. So, when’s the next one.......?

Absolute Masterpiece

I have never played a mobile game from start to finish until FAR: Lone Sails. This game made me feel like a 10 year old in front of my SNES playing Chrono Trigger, or some other Square adventure of equal awesomeness. The wasteland mood, post-apoc jazz music, the clunky gears, steam-enginery, and the fairly casual gameplay is pretty much perfect, and this is coming from someone who specializes in future/cyberpunk/wasteland ambient music and videos. It’s superb. Even felt some strong emotional undercurrents with the intentionally vague but symbolic storyline. Guys, you really have to try this game. It’s pure magic. I can’t wait to see what comes out of their workshop next. 5 stars. No question about it.

FAR: Lone Sails is an atmospheric exploration game that takes players on a melancholic journey across a vast, dried-out landscape.
