Epic Little War Game takes the series to new heights with fully 3D graphics and a massive array of units. Whether you are playing through the extensive single-player campaign or challenging friends in multiplayer, the goal is simple: capture the enemy base. With a built-in map generator and support for cooperative play, no two battles are ever the same.

Our Expert Score

82/100

Epic Little War Game is the definitive 'Little War' experience, successfully transitioning the series into a fully 3D environment while keeping the turn-based strategy accessible. The campaign is meaty and filled with the series' signature British humor, making even the most stressful skirmishes feel lighthearted.

The inclusion of a map generator and online multiplayer significantly extends the shelf life. While the AI can sometimes be a bit predictable, the depth of unit variety—from basic infantry to specialized sea and air units—allows for diverse tactical approaches. It’s a perfect 'on-the-go' strategy game that doesn't sacrifice depth for its mobile platform.

Amazing but a few things bother me
Tue Feb 20 2018 STOP! THIS! EVIL! BUG!

This game is better than the previous 3 installments in a ton of ways, such as the new mechanics, factions, and graphics but there are a few things that don't really meet up with the previous ones. The first is the Audio, not the music or anything, but the dialogue of what the soldiers say, it just sounds muffled. Second, the campaign, the campaign isn't as long as the previous games especially compared to GBWG's 50. Third, bring back FoW or atleast make it a option when you make a game because it just removes so many of the tactics. And finally bring back the engineer and the ability to take over buildings, yes I know builders can just make new buildings but establishing a factory or something in enemy lines is hard so taking control of buildings would be interesting. Don't get me wrong this game is amazing but it would make that much more amazing if you added more levels, FoW and capturing buildings/engineer

Amazing Game

I played a bunch of Great Big War Game about 5 years ago and that was my favorite game for such a long time. I just recently decided to get that game again and found this. This game he so many improvements. I love the base building. Being able to see everything on the map unlike before is pretty cool, it's not good or bad and a different kind of strategy compared to the other game. The only thing I do not care for is the graphics. The older one seemed to be better but I can't quite tell why, just seems better to me. The base building can get a little too fast pace at some points where you have an insane amounts of buildings and turrets etc. Overall though amazing game.

Best $5 ever spent!

This game is a blast to play and very addictive. I highly recommend purchasing this game and giving it a try. For such a small (and sometimes silly) game, there is a ton of serious strategy! The person who recommended it to me said it was like “Age of Empires” (one of my all time favorite games) for the mobile device world, and I completely agree! The main difference between AoE and ELWG is that AoE is a real-time strategy game (RTS) where ELWG is turn-based. I never imagined that a turn-based game could be so much, but it’s incredible! In fact, it’s one of the biggest selling points of the game because it fits in nicely with people who lead busy lives. Don’t have 3 hours to sit down and play a RTS? That’s fine. Take a couple of minutes to think about your move, make it, and end your turn—then get back to your crazy life! This game provided a nice distraction to 2020, and is one of the best strategy games on the App Store. Side note: One thing this game is missing is a notification letting you know when it’s your turn, but there are work arounds for that. Thanks for reading! Terrell

Awesome game

I have played this game every day since I first got it. Provides several hours of great entertainment. I have exhausted the provided Epic and large maps many times over and have to use the custom generator. My request is for more premade large and epic maps or adjust the custom generator so that I can choose the size of the map I want. A cheat sheet with basic codes to create bigger maps would do. Again , great game with hours of fun. Maybe another higher level of difficulty would not hurt too.

Absolutely Buy

Wether you’re new to the series or have been playing the War Games for years this game is great. Unlike other games that boast tons of redundant units, require you to pay IAPs and force you to wait for everything, rubicon came through yet again with true quality and depth. Massive maps, unique units and strategy combine to make this game, in my opinion, best of its class. This game should be on the featured section of the App Store and you should totally buy. Support this studio so that they will add even more to the game- they deserve it.

Why don’t people play this game? ITS AWESOME. It’s one of if not the best strategy games on mobile. It’s turn based, has fun cartoony graphics, hilarious voice lines and campaign, many unique units that are different from each other, factions you can choose to play as with exclusive units and buildings and limitations, and did I forget to say that you can build BASES in this game? Improvement over the last installment, look forward to playing even more. Great game, epic game, tiny little war game!

Great game

Although incomparable to GLWG it GBWG this is still an amazing, yet different game in the series. It offers multiple different aspects that are not seen in the previous games and is much more up to date. Although it has some issues, only an extremely major issue could drop my review to 4 stars, because any game in this series wins me over regardless of content.

Epically tedious

I enjoyed people versions in this series, but the ganger doesn't scale well and they removed a key feature - fog of war - that required more strategic thinking. There was only one level I needed to repeat. The rest folowed the same pattern. Play defense while they attack karate movie style - one at a time so they're easily defeated - and you build a lot of coin miners. Once you have a financial edge, the rest is easy. I also only used a small subset of the available unit types. In short, the AI is very weak which made the game too easy. And the bigger board just made it last longer.
