Dungeon Clawler is one of the most inventive roguelikes I've played in years. It takes the familiar 'deck-builder' formula and literally puts it inside a claw machine. Instead of drawing cards, you use a physical claw to grab items you've added to your bin. The physics-based nature of the game adds a layer of hilarious and tense unpredictability; that powerful sword you really need might be buried under a pile of useless rocks, or you might accidentally grab a bomb that hurts you instead of the enemy.
The art style is charmingly quirky, and the synergies between items are incredibly deep. You can build a 'claw-focused' run that makes your grab stronger, or an 'item-focused' run that fills the bin with so many goodies you can't miss. It’s a perfect example of a game that takes a simple, relatable concept and expands it into a high-stakes, strategic adventure. A must-play for roguelike fans.
Innovative physics-based claw combat system
Hundreds of items, weapons, and relics to discover
Multiple playable characters with unique abilities
Challenging bosses and procedurally generated paths
Stunning and quirky hand-drawn art style
Don't just add every item you find. A 'thin' bin with only high-quality items is often better than a crowded one. If your bin is too full, you'll struggle to grab the specific item you need during a boss fight.
You have limited energy per turn. Some items are 'slippery' and harder to grab, while others have hooks that might snag multiple items at once. Master the physics to maximize your turns.
Nope! The physics are 100% fair. If you miss, it's all about your aim and the way the items have settled in the bin.
If you’re a fan of Slay the spire type games, which I am, then give this one a go. It’s easy to pick up and the gameplay mechanics give you so much control yet you have that excitement/frustration coin flip with each use of the claw machine. Highly addictive. Great work to the devs. I’ve spent my entire Thanksgiving playing this game. Worth it! Just want to add I’ve seen some reviews giving this game 2 stars because it’s too hard. It can be, sure, but you have to build your character the right way, just like Slay the Spire. To me, getting to level 13 (out of 20) and losing is part of the charm. It makes me think “how can I do this better next time?” Games are meant to be challenging, which makes them rewarding. This game can be challenging but sometimes your character gets so powerful that you breeze through the later levels. Anyway. This game is so fun. Enjoy it.
I continued to play this game even with my issues below. I finished a run and probably started a few other ones. It's been idk how many days that I have not even thought about this game at all. On one of my runs I watch the claw go down and grab a bunch of items and right when it started to come up one of the items I was going for immediately disappeared. When it's the games mechanic I can't get past it. I will never play this game again and wasted the money I spent on it. I hate free to play but this game makes me want to just play free to play so I am not wasting money like this. I am very disappointed. I like this game. It's pretty entertaining. I just bought it today and I am on my first run. I am on floor 16 and just started to notice stuff disappearing. So 2 turns I watched the magnet drop in the machine and immediately disappear. Third turn it drops lands on the other stuff and when I went to grab it, it disappeared. Next stage same floor I watched stuff fall and immediately disappear. The reason such a low rating is grabbing stuff is the whole point of the game. Can't grab stuff if it doesn't drop or show up like it should. Please fix.
I have a number of other paid games (Balatro, Luck Be a Landlord) that are top tier but something about this game makes it stand out. At least I’ve been consistently playing this more than the others. It’s of course fun, and there’s good replay value with the roguelike elements. Plus the variety of characters to play as offer unique and interesting gameplay & strategy twists. The claw mechanic can get a bit tedious after so many fights/runs, and while the magnetic and tentacle claws make up for this, sometimes the speed/angle of grabbed items makes them not fall into the “bin/slot”. This is frustrating at times where the one item you wanted to play falls back into the main area or sits on the divider (for smaller items like daggers and rings, good luck getting them off without a special claw or other large items…)
This game is amazing and everything it was on PC. It is so nice to have my favorite game portably on my phone, the controls, mainly the swipe to move the claw is a bit annoying and I would be very appreciative if there was a setting to change it to arrow keys displayed on screen which would also solve the problem of accidentally clicking the screen too many times and losing your run. Another part that I would be very grateful for and make the experience better would be to add a zoom setting so that you could have the same screen window as your PC which was way more compact while also showing what you need. Other than these small issues, this game is a blast and I am having a great time playing ❤️.
I cannot stop playing this game. For years I have played countless mobile games, 99% of them being free to play I’ll admit, but none of them come close to this. I would have paid more for the amount of game that you are being given here. Each run can vary tremendously with the amount of items and perks at your disposal, then add different playable characters, each with their own attributes changing play-style entirely. The art style is fantastic and I find the gameplay to be incredibly unique, I just really like everything about this game. It’s great to see something well thought out, expertly executed, and given to the paying customer complete. Is that really so much to ask? Thanks to this team for sure.
I love roguelikes and deck builders so I went into this thinking it looked pretty fun. But I was NOT expecting it to be this good and addicting! The claw machine twist can be a little frustrating at first until you build your “deck” to take advantage of the chaos. There is more depth than a few runs will let on, so I encourage you to keep playing and learn all the fun possibilities. My one suggestion to the devs would be to add a claw machine focused zoom function to occupy more of the screen. Even on a 16 Plus it can get pretty tricky to see and position the claw just right.
Overall, the concept is amazing, and the gameplay is highly addictive. However, the level design could use some improvement. Currently, even the normal mode feels quite challenging, and in endless mode, the enemy’s strength scales exponentially, creating a significant imbalance compared to the player’s abilities. To address this, it would be helpful to introduce mechanics that give players more breathing room. For example: An upgrade system to enhance abilities over time. Options to customize deck builds or claws. Rewarding players with additional claws as levels progress. Allowing players to ban unwanted cards during a run. While the game shows great potential, these adjustments could make it more enjoyable and balanced. I understand it’s still in early access, but as it stands, it falls short of being as fun as it could be.
It’s an interesting concept, and there’s a lot there already to make it fun. However, as the game is right now, I don’t think it goes far enough with the claw mechanics. I was kind of expecting there to be ways to upgrade your claw throughout a run, which there aren’t. I think adding that mechanic, and giving characters unique claws as well would add a lot of dimensionality and interest to the game. As it stands, most of the characters play more of less the same. Like, there are differences in strategy and how you build your deck, but the overall playstyle is pretty much the same every time.
