Dragon Ruins I is pure nostalgia in the best way possible. It feels like a love letter to the 'Wizardry' and 'Might & Magic' games of my childhood. The developer, Kotobuki Solution, has done a great job of removing the frustrations of the old genre—like the need for graph paper—while keeping the core satisfaction of party management and dungeon delving. The 12-class system is surprisingly robust, allowing for a lot of experimentation with party compositions.
I really enjoy the pixel art; it has a lot of charm and makes the monster encounters feel distinct. The 'streamlined' approach is perfect for mobile—sometimes you just want to crawl through a dungeon without watching twenty minutes of cutscenes. It’s a quiet, focused game that rewards careful resource management. While it might be too 'old school' for players used to modern action-RPGs, it’s a perfect pick-up-and-play title for anyone who loves the tactical satisfaction of a good dungeon crawl.
12 unique character classes for deep party customization.
Classic 3D dungeon exploration with convenient auto-mapping.
Retro pixel-art graphics and atmospheric sound design.
Challenging bosses that evolve as you grow stronger.
Streamlined controls designed for iPad and modern iPhones.
A successful expedition requires balance. Always include at least one frontline tank (like a Knight) to soak up damage and one healer. The remaining two slots should be dedicated to damage dealers like Archers or Mages. Don't forget to upgrade your gear in town between runs!
Movement happens in a first-person perspective on a 3D grid. The game automatically maps your progress as you move, allowing you to focus on finding hidden switches and avoiding traps. Battles are triggered randomly or at specific event points.
Yes, Dragon Ruins I includes a fast-paced auto-battle option for standard encounters to keep the exploration flowing.
I have this on Steam. It’s definitely ideal for quick sessions after a long, hard day of work. Don’t expect very deep mechanics or anything. This is Wizardry stripped down to the bare minimum and focused entirely on dungeon crawling and HP management. It takes the question “do you dare continue a little further?” And runs with it. If you want something that’ll play more like traditional RPGs, seek out Wizardry Variants Daphne, Dragon Quest, or Final Fantasy.
The game had way more reviews and a lower score but suddenly today it has a fraction of the reviews and bc of that, the score has jumped up drastically. Last I checked, this awful game sat at 3.1 ⭐️s. Now it’s gone up almost a whole number overnight with most of the reviews missing…. The game is awful. It looks cool if you enjoy the washed out pixel look, which is something I seem to enjoy lately. This game however is just lacking in every other dept. I really wish it had held up to the hype but to me, personally, it’s just a terrible experience all around and a general waste of your time. Hopefully the dev will fix what’s already been made and then add some good - decent content to the game. It has potential, don’t get me wrong, but as it currently sits, it’s a hard no from me.
Great atmosphere and mechanics for a mobile game. Cant put it down
It is a bare-bones basic dungeon game no sound no cool graphics just bare minimum everything including the lore story it’s definitely not worth the money I paid for it but if you enjoy super simple, done your crawlers then this is the game for you
Nice if you like RPGs, but you’re tired 🤣
Awesome game.
Dont waste your money
