Our Expert Score

74/100

Car Evolve delivers light, accessible arcade fun by tapping into the popular runner-evolution genre. Watching your clunky 1920s roadster transform into a sleek modern supercar in real time as you steer through time gates is instant visual gratification.

The controls are smooth, and the progression system gives you a steady stream of coins to upgrade your starting stats and unlock new car collections. The end-of-level speed ramps offer a fun final burst of action to test how well you upgraded your car during the run.

While it follows familiar casual runner mechanics, the theme is well-executed and provides a fun, breezy pastime for quick play sessions.

Fun for the first “universe”
Mon Jul 13 2026 mistertyme

There are 4 different roads and I did enjoying reaching the end of each one (eventually). After each road completion, you get a money bonus. I liked purposely crashing before the checkered finish line to get more money for the next road. Then the next universe, you start over. From scratch (money back at 1x)…. Deleted it right then and there. I don’t like the concept of just starting over. I feel the game ends after the first rainbow road.

Decent concept, some annoyances
Mon Aug 24 2026 CoolBreadd

I’ll say it’s a fun concept for a time-waster, the main issue I have is with the controls and function of some of the features. Starting with the controls, they are way too sensitive and small to operate the car well. A micrometer shift in any direction will make the car go haywire, which is very annoying especially with a run-ending obstacle like a lake being in the way at the start. The main 2 functions that clash in my playthroughs are the slingshot and the car itself. Not sure if it’s random per person, but my map generated with the lake as the starting part. After upgrading the slingshot to the Golden Sling, I found it more difficult to get to the bridge over the lake, which made my sling upgrades more of a debuff than an upgrade. So upgrading the car helps me traverse the map more, but the controls are not stable at all, and upgrading the sling gives me more of a speed boost, but is a negative when the map layout is obstacle-heavy. Other than those two points, the game is in an alright state. I mean it’s no masterpiece (and I don’t believe it’s intended to be) but it’s fun to just kill time with, as long as it stays fun and doesn’t become an annoyance. If the controls were based on tapping certain parts of the screen and the sling would provide more of a boost to skip parts of the map like an aerial boost, the game would make more sense and would keep people hooked longer.

Do not purchase No Ads
Sat May 02 2026 LZH27

It’s not a great game, but it was OK. Something to do which didn’t take a lot of brain power while I listened to my audiobooks. I made the mistake of purchasing the option of removing ads. Unfortunately the creator of the app was not sophisticated enough to ensure ads were not continually forced on me. So I continued to get ads forced on me which frustrated me to the point I just deleted the app. I requested a refund through Apple and unfortunately, they have become a bit unethical and do not feel it’s an issue for us to be paying for services which are not provided. Bottom line don’t waste your money. I would recommend the app creator work a little harder to make sure their functions work. I would recommend Apple be less unethical. As a decades long Apple user it’s really disheartening to see the company going in that direction. The direction of $4.99 being more important than maintaining a loyal customer.

Air Plane Mode
Mon Jun 01 2026 ShivaShaktiKaliDurga

Like all others apps, play in Air Plane mode if you want to avoid ads after each car run, and ads run longer than the actual car run, so it’s mainly ads when you play this. Air plane mode is the only way. If you want to be able to double your earnings, keep it on Wi-Fi, but do so when you are doing something else, like brushing your teeth… that way while you double your earnings, you let the phone play the ads, but your doing something else. No one needs to watch ads on any game or platform. Always play in Air Plane mode when you can and if not, makes sure you have something else to do ie brush teeth, go to the bathroom, get a snack from the fridge, etc.

My honest review

I’m going to be real with ya’ll. I installed this from a mobile game (probably just like most of you) and played it for a few days without ads. And then out of nowhere, after three or four crashes, I get an ad. I get it, they need to make money, but it also feels completely misleading. For the gameplay side of things, it’s a perfect time consumer. It’s simple, easy, but also engaging enough to keep your attention for long periods. Admittedly, I probably spend more time on it than I should. It’s decently fun. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for the hidden ads.

Has issues

Of course ads every other play, but not too long. Not bad for a free game. 4.99 to remove ads, isn’t bad, not asking for a subscription. The issues with the game, upgrading the slingshot after the first few feels worthless, no idea what it does other than change appearance. Upgrading car beyond tires almost feels like it gives you less control. Once you get to new maps with new cars, you can’t go back. So no replaying anything old. So a nightmare for anyone who likes to complete things.

So when I play this game it’s fun and all but when you move the joystick that appears with your finger on the screen it tends to be difficult to control like if I move the car slowly to the right or left the car just stops or flips which makes it irritating and difficult to actually progress further and I think the game should have a setting where you can adjust that but overall the game is pretty fun it’s just the controls that make it difficult
