Boxfort: Kids Books captures a wonderfully nostalgic theme—the infinite potential of a simple cardboard box—and translates it into an enchanting digital story app. The illustrations have a tactile, hand-crafted feel that immediately separates it from generic, vector-art digital books.
What makes Boxfort special is how it bridges digital screen time with off-screen real-world play. After reading a story about building a box rocket ship or castle, the app offers real-world inspiration for kids to go build their own forts out of household materials. The interactive touch points on each page are subtle and meaningful, enriching the story rather than distracting from it.
It’s a delightful addition to any child’s app library, offering calm, artistic storytelling that encourages genuine hands-on creativity.
Original interactive picture books centered on imaginative play
Synchronized read-along text narration
Charming hand-crafted artistic presentation
Ad-free and child-safe navigation interface
Includes offline craft ideas for real-world cardboard building
Select a storybook from the cardboard fort shelf. Choose between automated narration or quiet self-reading mode.

My daughter (4) and I have been reading Boxfort books for about a year - we love the light hearted but meaningful stories and fun characters, especially Dr Toast (the best doctor in town!!). She loves the occasional animations, trying to make the same faces as Patrick or hand gestures of the eloquent penguin as we read. We have a lot of little inside jokes stemming from the books as well, you big chunky fish. I think we have bought half the collection on the books app already… but we signed up for the annual subscription here anyway to get the rest and support the independent author. App itself works great for me, no issues at all and pretty easy to navigate through. Would love more content, maybe even a bit longer stories… Vicious cycle!! Thanks to Matthew for creating the books and app.
This book is honestly so funny and clever, and my daughter loved the toenail part.
I love all the books and they’re pretty good books
I love this app
I want to start of with my 5 year old has been obsessed with your books for two years now, his absolute favorite character is Patrick(ironic as his name is Kevin). We were super thrilled for this option to read your books! I did only rate this 4 stars because the app is glitchy, often times you have to search the book to be able to open it and “the box(animated)” shuts the whole app down when we try to read it, we still haven’t had the chance to read the whole thing which frustrates my 5 year old to no end
We love these books and it has been our bedtime stories go-to almost every night for the past 2 years. While some words are a little bit complicated, my now 7 years old is able to read most books without help. I removed one start because as another reviewer mentioned, the app is a little bit glitchy at time. We do find a way around it most of the times though.
There are several books that stop before the story’s over. Also there just aren’t enough new books. My kids have read every one. Otherwise we love this app and the books, hopefully they fix the issues and add more books regularly.
I’ve already subscribed and I can’t login to your app to access the books. The subscribe page won’t scroll up, so if that’s the location of the existing users login, I wouldn’t know. Cute stories! Love them, wish we could read them.
