Our Expert Score

95/100

Bluey's Quest for the Gold Pen is an absolute triumph of family-friendly gaming. Developed by Halfbrick (of Fruit Ninja fame) and written by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, this feels less like a licensed 'app' and more like a lost episode of the show. The story starts with a classic Bluey premise: Dad 'yoinks' the Gold Pen, and the family transforms the house into a series of magical, hand-drawn worlds to get it back.

The game is beautifully animated and fully voiced by the original cast, which makes every moment feel authentic. The 'trifficult' puzzles are perfectly balanced for children—encouraging problem-solving and creativity without frustration. Exploring the iconic Australian landscapes, from snowy mountains to golden beaches, is a joy. It captures the heart, humor, and 'for real life' charm that has made Bluey a global phenomenon. Whether you're a toddler or a parent, this is an adventure the whole household will love.

10 reasons why this app is not just good but awesome
Tue Dec 30 2025 Red tail fan

Reason one there is a whole new app of your favorite character. Bluey reason two it gives you a choice to pay and for free reason three it gives you lots of fun activities and adventures reason for if you have nothing to do then I suggest playing this app reason five this game is also really funny cartoon used to watching. All of the characters are made out of drawings so if you want to draw the characters, feel free to reason seven you can tell people about this in one snap and they will be on the loose wanting to play reason eight I love it and you should too reason nine it’s really easy to get you can get it on App Store or from fruit ninja reason 10 the characters are really funny

Great game for fans of the show

Devs, if you read these - we pair our iPad with an Xbox controller and it’s very frustrating to push the A button for most interaction but have to use Y to start a conversation but A to continue and close it. Please fix it or add controller settings so you can set your own mappings. Thanks! Now the review. I’ve heard other Bluey games aren’t very good, but this one is excellent especially for fans of the show (and I don’t know anyone with kids who isn’t). It’s a great way to introduce young kids to longer and more complex video games. This one is a combination of exploration, fetch quests, and basic puzzles. It’s voiced by the real cast and the characters are drawn in the style of the “drawing” episodes like “Escape” and “Dragon”. The story feels like a proper episode. Now, the feedback. Most of the game is voice acted, but there are bits that aren’t, which my kid who is just starting to read found frustrating. While you can play on the touch screen, the game works much better with a controller. Other than that, it’s a lot of fun and worth the money. It’s also a lot cheaper on iOS than any other platform.

Such a cute and fun game. Unlike the other one that requires a subscription and seems lazy, this game has clearly has thought and love put into it. It is true to the show with voice actors and animation, and the drawing style is great too. It’s a shame the original video game for the Switch was so buggy and broken, this feels like a great second attempt at a Bluey game. Music is lovely and not annoying like other games. It’s actually difficult at times to find certain things which is great. I’m going to be sad when I’m finished, hopefully you will add more levels.

Fun and Cozy Bluey Game

It’s got a decent length at least the paid part does. It’s a collectathon type game where you travel through worlds complete challenges and get your goose food items to progress. I’m a little concerned about the difficulty since this game is based on a show with a preschool demographic I’d expect it to be playable by that demographic. However a basic reading ability is required for this game and some of the challenges might be harder for younger children. I definitely struggled on the occasion. Overall though I can solidly recommend this game.

100% completed please make this dlc
Fri May 29 2026 I love this game 😀😃😄😁

I absolutely love this game and just unlocked every single tutorial and treasure! Since I beat King Goldie Horns, I really want a DLC or a sequel. My idea is that Mr. Goldie Horns comes back and steals the Gold Pen again, but this time he also steals a Glitter Pen! We have to chase him through new lands, including a Magic Castle level with moving stairs and illusion rooms. The Glitter Pen could be used to build sparkling bridges or reveal hidden secrets. Please read this Halfbrick, it would be the best update ever! And I’m a nine year old and I’m really looking forward to this

OK, I only put five stars on this so that way you can see this I would actually rate it two stars because you sent on a mission to collect eight lollies that opens a portal and from there you have to pay $15 to keep going on with the game I felt really annoyed by that and if you are OK with paying $15 to keep going on with game that’s completely fine and other than having to pay 15 bucks, it’s actually super fun

This gameGreat but.

I left this game, but I thought that it was gonna be free. But it’s not free. and I don’t know why it’s not free. He could. It’s like for kids like why they doing that. And if you’re reading this, I think this is not great because you have to shop, this photo, they Wanna Shop, the game. It’s OK but photos that they don’t wanna shop the game. But they wanna play. It’s like I don’t Know Why. What They doing That and I was playing. And then I complete The Flash never. And it was free but then I have to shop the game so I think for that is not like good, but of the is really Good Game Just It’s Not Free soThank You For reading this
