Beecarbonize is a high-stakes strategy card game where climate change is your primary opponent. You are tasked with steering society through a complex simulation involving 120 unique cards representing real-world technologies, laws, and social advancements. You must balance the demands of the power-generating industry against ecological policies and scientific research. Every decision has consequences—higher emissions trigger floods and heatwaves, while nuclear investment carries its own set of risks. Can you reach a carbon-neutral future before it’s too late?

Our Expert Score

90/100

Beecarbonize is perhaps the most sophisticated 'climate game' I've ever played. It manages to boil down the incredibly complex intersection of global economics, social policy, and environmental science into a card game that is easy to pick up but immensely difficult to master. Every run feels like a fresh puzzle. You might decide to go 'all-in' on industrial expansion to fund quick tech breakthroughs, only to find yourself buried under the resulting ecological disasters.

The game doesn't shy away from the hard truths of climate change, but it also provides a sense of agency that is empowering. The variety of end-game states—from complete collapse to a high-tech solar utopia—provides excellent replayability. It’s the kind of game that makes you think about the real-world news long after you’ve put your phone down. Highly recommended for anyone who loves deep strategy and wants to understand the systems shaping our future.

This was a nice little game that I enjoyed quite a bit. It was difficult at first, until I realized what I was actually supposed to do. The tutorial did a decent job of teaching the basic controls, but isn’t great at telling you what your actually supposed to be doing. But after a few games I understood the actual goal, and haven’t lost a game sense. Basically, you are wanting to get a hold of one of five special golden cards (upgrade cards with a star enough). Once you get one, you win. You lose if too many disasters happen at once or people starve. Just make sure you’re producing money faster than people, and try to avoid any cards that increase carbon production, and pretty soon you can negate or completely eliminate carbon production entirely, and from there it’s a cake walk to victory. Give it a try, it’s a relaxing little time killer that doesn’t force in app purchases or ads down your throat (I’ve seen none of either). Nor does it feel ‘preachy’ even though the game’s main purpose is obviously to try and make people think about their carbon footprint more.

The more I play this game, the less I like it.

At first it seemed really innovative and interesting, but the more I play it, the more I notice its limitations, and the more annoying it’s fatuous crisis become. At this point I just deleted the app after being thrown a series of supposed global crisis that threatened the entire civilization, all of which were labeled “Garbage Landslides”. It’s dumb enough that the designers have decreed that such an event would ever threaten the global climate, but the fact that they re-use this insultingly fatuous “crisis” over and over speaks of a lack of effort on the part of the game designers, like at some point they just quit working and called it a wrap no matter how stupid the scenarios they had created. Such a shame. So much potential squandered for just another stupid tablet game. If you’re looking for a new version of solitaire, this might suffice, but if you were hoping for a remotely realistic model for the central human challenge of our times, this cartoonish caricature will disappoint.

Simply Great

A really fun and simple civilization type game. Once you recognize the different cards and what they do, you can optimize the pollution in the green and yellow zone and have fun exploring the different cards. Won a couple times and then tried maxing out everything before winning. The developers might want to add a “quick coin add” or something that puts the total amount instantly when buying the cards. When I was adding the same cards over and over again, they were taking forever to buy because I had to individually put in like 300 coins per section. But, that’s only an issue if you were messing around with the limits of the game like me. Fun fun fun.

So good

Overall really good game. Like the concept of saving the Earth. I also like that you can pause, speed up, and play a t normal speed. I’ve been looking into the devs games and I can tell you guys know what you’re doing.(The apps the make historical fiction, dark phycological, etc.) thanks for making a game with no ads too. (I hate ads in games) for a consumer getting this app: don’t quit when you lose, there is way more to the game than you think! Also there is hardcore mode for people who are really good at the game! Not to mention the multiple parts you can compete. Thanks devs looking forward to future updates!😁

The game 11/10. There is no question about it. The logistics are just incredible. There is so many different ways to build your strategy - it’s incredible. There is only ONE huge thing. The game is easy if you ignore the speed, i.e. the amount of rounds you need before winning the game. but once you introduce the aspect of winning the game quickly, a whole new strategic nuances come into play. You absolutely have to create a GameCenter integration where people can compete based on how quickly they solved the game. It will take the logistics of the game to a whole new level.

Fun game about sustainability

Great new game from Charles Games. This one is a system balancing sim that requires you to build industry while balancing society, environment, and science research. Fun to play, good for educational purposes too. Would like a bit more tutorial in the beginning and some info about the cards (I didn’t understand why certain cards had the effect that they did). Overall recommended to try, especially because it’s free!! How many free to play games can you find these days without micro transactions??

Potential to be great

Really it's a great game, but it can be 100% completed in just a few hours. Game play is fun at first and I'm actually impressed at how unique it is and not just a copy of another game. But once you understand how to play and you've collected all cards and endings that's it. I enjoyed this game a lot and would love to see more updates with custom scenarios or really just more content overall. It's not one of the best games I've ever played, but it honestly is better than most. And hey it's free with no ads which is a huge plus! Great job on what there is so far, I just wish there was more!

Fun game with loophole
Tue Mar 28 2023 Xckid5k

Great gameplay, very fun for a single solve but not great replay value. Would be helpful to have multiple scenarios or levels to beat. Major loophole is strategically adding/removing cards from play at different times. For example, you can remove your starting industry card immediately before producing money, which eliminates the 20 emissions. Then add the card back immediately after money production to speed up the industry clock again. Overall very nice game, looking forward to a few updates!
