- Polish Update: Fixed bugs and added improvements for an even smoother experience!
Ball Blast is the definitive 'bullet heaven' arcade shooter for mobile. As a reviewer of high-octane casual games, I am impressed by how this title manages to be both incredibly simple to pick up and surprisingly deep in its strategy. You control a cannon that slides along the bottom of the screen, blasting descending balls that split into smaller pieces as they take damage. It sounds basic, but the addition of 'random' elements—like picking up different guns, drones, and perks mid-game—turns every run into a unique tactical experience.
The progression loop is what keeps players coming back. Upgrading your cannon doesn't just increase its damage; it changes how the items work, adding layers of strategic depth. The recent updates have added even more variety, including a 'Falling Blocks' mode and a 'Castle Defense' challenge. Competing on global leaderboards adds a much-needed layer of prestige to the high-score chasing. While the pace can become frantic (or 'BallZ mayhem' as the devs call it), the controls remain snappy and responsive. It’s the perfect example of how to modernize a classic arcade concept for a touch-screen audience.
Endless waves of action-packed shooter gameplay
Customizable cannons with unique drones and perks
Competitive global leaderboards and leagues
Frequent updates with new modes like Castle Defense
Satisfying visual effects and smooth arcade controls
Focus on the largest balls first, but be careful not to create too many small, fast-moving pieces at once. Try to herd the enemies to one side of the screen to give yourself a clear escape path.
Invest your coins into 'Fire Rate' early on. As the game progresses, look for the 'Magician Drone' and 'Barrier' perks to provide defensive utility during boss encounters.
Drones act as secondary weapon systems that hover near your cannon, providing extra fire support or utility like freezing enemies.
First let me say that I love this game, don’t get me wrong, but a few things can be done to make it even better. The first suggestion I have is to add a health system that you can upgrade in the same way and menu as offline earnings, coins, ball power, and bps. The health system should be upgradeable and it would make the game a little less stressful. For instance, when I have the max amount of balls on the screen, sometimes a ball with literally 1 hit point left will hit me therefore ending my current record. I also think that the max amount of balls on the screen possible should be decreased, and some of the visual and physical physics should be changed. One of (pretty much the only) visual changes I think should be changed is the ghost blinking when you are about to run out of ghost should be more visible, and one of the physical changes I would like would be how the ball splits when destroyed, as it is very hard to know where it will go when there are 7 balls bouncing around. The final change I can think of is the homing canon. The time available for having it is limited by if you lose the round you have it, and that is downright annoying and bamboozled me when I first got it. Other than these (personal opinion) quirks I think the game is pretty fun and very much useful when you go in and out of cellular service or are on a road trip. If you have successfully read down here thank you, I can sometimes *ahem* AllWays be a large writer and appreciate people who take the time out of there day to read others things. :)
So this game is definitely addictive and I love the challenge. Not gonna complain about the ads because clearly the developer has no intention of removing in spite of all of the complaints. This is the way they choose to make money and I for one paid the nominal fee to remove the ads because I loved the game so much. My BIGGEST issue is that the upgrades such as Fire Speed have NO effect after a certain point. For instance I saved over 20 MILLION in coins in order to prove my theory. I made a significant purchase to improve my Fire Speed and Fire Power and ball destruction has NOT improved one bit. Don’t get me wrong in the beginning you will notice a difference when upgrading but after a while in does nothing. For instance I am at 161 bps and 1490% power and it feels the same as when I was at 125 bps and 900% power. This is a major FLAW the game in my opinion because my motivation to keep playing is all but gone. Also the randomness of types of balls is kinda dumb. Out of the blue you get a 20k red ball and may never see that again for a while. Not that big a deal just annoying sometimes. Lastly, the ? power balls are cool but also random and sometimes dumb. I don’t need a freeze when I’m ghost. Also if the developer really wanted a way to make more money how about the ability to purchase coins and or power ups. Personally I’d pay... but that’s just me...
i like the game itself but the ads are unbearable the is an ad after every match even when you die in the middle and when you win also once you upgrade to a certain level you have to watch an ad to upgrade the game is very fun and addicting which is my only saving grace if the game sucked tand the ads were ad bad as this it would be immediately deleted and i’m not the kind of person that will spend money on games but this is tempting me to because i love the game just not the amount of ads also when i purchase something using coins it gives me an ad before i can purchase and the ads make my game glitch and become laggy and crash i hope the developers see this and lower the ad load please because the concept and the game itself is very good the ads make it unbearable to play like i put on a time and counted how many ads i got in five minutes and over half of the five minutes was spent watching ads in total i got like i think three ads and i was spared because i got to skip them after 5-10 seconds, but most ads are thirty second unskipable ads so yeah that’s all i have to say
I’m addicted to this game. Love playing it and the levels seem to get more difficult. Couple things I would like to see are some challenges. Challenges that can be played and win prizes. Would also like to actually have a list of all the levels so that, if I want to, I can go back to a previous level and try to get a better score. That’s if scoring was actually a thing. Would also like to see that when I get hit, I have the option to use a heart, or watch a video to continue. If I watch the video and I get hit again, I should still be allowed to use a heart to continue again. Great game, just needs a few added things to it. Would also like to add that I have diamonds saved up, but I have nothing to use them on. I have all of the cannons except those that I have to buy (which I’m not). There is nothing different with each of the cannons other than their appearance. There are no power ups such as using the diamonds or money to buy an extra cannon to start with at the beginning of the level. Or buying a one game increase to power or speed. As of 9 December 2019, when I get hit and watch a video to continue, it ends the game right after the video is done. 28 July 2020- Still have a bunch of diamonds saved up and keep getting them in the daily prize box, but I have nothing I can spend them on. Is there any plan on making something available that I can buy with diamonds?
After the latest update, there are this special gems that the player can earn sporadically or by beating a boss. However, it only unlocks new cannons. This is fine for new players, but for people like me who have been playing for awhile, it doesn’t do anything. I’m earning the gems with nothing to spend them on, since I unlocked all of the cannons with regular coins before the update. I’d suggest adding a new type of purchase possible: bullet skins. One of my favorite discoveries was the combination of a spaceship/rocket cannon on the background skin of outer space, which change the bullets into lasers. I think it would be cool if players could buy different bullet options, and it would give a purpose for old players who already purchased cannons, or new players who want some variety. Also, there are a few issues the the power-ups. For example: sometimes when I use the freeze power-up, I can’t see the balls because I pop them as soon as they come out, and the division of them forces one out of frame. Due to this, I can’t pop them and it won’t throw in more balls until I do, making the power-up useless. Additionally, the ghost power-up needs some adjustments, notably when the power-up is almost over. It’s hard to tell when it’s fading out. A more visible change would be great. Finally, the offline coins option is upsetting. Unlike most idle features on other games, the offline coins on this game have a limit. I feel that the limit should be taken away. All in all, good game and I definitely play it more since the latest updates. FYI, love the new sounds in it!
I absolutely love this game, don’t get me wrong, and I liked the new additions of lasers and the hard levels where you protect the bridge. I also thought the rankings were awesome. But then they got rid of the custom backgrounds and only gave me like two hundred gems, which didn’t even cover the price of one background when I had them all. I learned to live with it. But I get on today (mind you I play very often) and they notify me that custom cannons were removed, but this time they actually gave back what I payed for these cannons plus some extra. Now I’m just sad. One of the big fun things about this game was that you were able to purchase customizations with gems, which you get from just playing, and pretty easily too. The fact that they removed all customization and are making it more about rankings is hella annoying. Also, something about the rankings. I’m on level 1,040 something and when rankings got added I was in the 700s. However, I started from the bottom up despite having played this game on and off for years. Idk, just made me sad that my hard work over time wasn’t recognized. Still a good game for just listening to stuff and playing something, so you aren’t bored, but I miss the older versions with customization.
I originally thought this was a good game for kids, but it really stalls out in the upper levels. It may be trying to teach some idea of improving everyone else around you before you can succeed, but I find that illogical in the game when the coins can no longer be used to upgrade items. This video game does not effectively teach that lesson, if that is what it is trying to do. Perhaps the developers need to rethink their process. Original review: I don’t often write reviews for games, but I thought this game deserved some praise. I like that it is a simple game, but still requires some skill and attention. The game designers seem to intentionally help players with additional level revive opportunities when a level is failed. I find that emotionally healthy. Many games seem to sabotage players and try to outrage them to get them to spend money, but this game does not do that. If I were choosing a game for a child to play, I would certainly choose a game that helps them out a little rather than trying to constantly outrage them. Ball blast is a fun game to play and it is enjoyable to win levels to pass time and relax. I am interested to play more video games from this game developer because of their emotionally healthy approach to designing games.
Way too many ads, after every single game or not two games. No competition at all, didn’t feel anything when I play this game. No heart racing, nothing. Ads are extremely annoying, like maybe you can have 1 add in 5 rounds? But like who does 1 after another? That’s just plain stupid. The ratio for offline earnings versus the amount of coins put into it is completely off. I probably put in about 2m in it and it only gives 7k. That’s unfair. Also, when you get really far into the game, like I am right now (336), it gets harder to play the game because almost every ball is above 5k. Also you earn really less coins for the amount of money put in for the coin selection. I’ve probably spent around 15m coins on the coin selection but it barely gives any more coins than usual. Like 5 coins or 10 coins. That barely does anything. Also for the power ups too. The point of this game is for people to play it, so I think there should be an option to restart the game at where you are right now, or restart the game as new. The coin system needs to be more efficient, as in being able to earn coins easier. I have to spend 1.12m to get one speed level higher or power up one level. Then the next one is 1.3m which is a lot more for just one level power up/speed up. Just updated the game, am I able to turn off the “cool” “great” stuff? Or can you add that option in? It’s annoying and it bothers me, it’s probably the same for others too. The point of “Freeze” is to freeze all the balls in the game, so how come the balls still move? And after I break a ball sometimes, the 2 other balls that was broken into move & kills me.
