32 Heroes: Retro RPG is a concentrated dose of nostalgia that understands exactly what made the 8-bit era of role-playing games so magical. The hook is right there in the title: having 32 distinct classes isn't just a gimmick; it creates a staggering amount of strategic depth. Most mobile RPGs flatten progression into simple stat increases, but here, switching a Paladin for a Chronomancer completely rewires how you approach a dungeon. The turn-based combat feels snappy, and the elemental weakness system keeps you from simply 'auto-attacking' your way through encounters.
The pixel art is crisp and evocative, avoiding the 'blurry' look of some modern retro-style games, and the chiptune soundtrack is genuinely catchy. What I appreciated most was the removal of modern 'freemium' friction. There are no energy timers or gacha mechanics—just a vast world map and a deep loot system that rewards exploration. If you grew up with Dragon Quest or early Final Fantasy, this feels like a lost classic that was found and polished for modern screens. It’s a dense, rewarding adventure that respects the player’s intelligence and time.

A balanced party is vital. Always include at least one 'Tank' class to soak up damage and one 'Healer' to keep the party alive during long boss fights.
Most enemies have a color-coded weakness. Use Water spells against Red enemies to deal critical damage and stun them for a turn.
The game is a one-time purchase with no microtransactions or 'pay-to-win' mechanics.
I like the idea of this game, building up 32 heroes, and running several different parties. There’s a lot to do. But: 1) it crashes randomly, especially on the team assignments screens; 2) it lags a little when summoning new heroes, when switching screens, and sometimes when needing to click something; 3) It makes me sign in (with my apple ID) at least twice every time I open the game, and sometimes it seems to get stuck asking me to sign in several times.
I think this is one of the best games on the market right now. There’s no game that makes me want to devote more time into it than this one… the only problem is that it crashes for me after playing for only a few minutes. And it’s not an every once in a while it’ll crash. It crashes every time I play. The game is too awesome for me to put it down but I have to re load the game every 5 minutes
The only real issue I have is the game hard lock or freezes when trying to link my Apple account. It just does not work. Please fix and will change to 5 stars.
I honestly wish the game looked how it looks in the loading screens, but for it to be retro pixelated, I would like it to have more animations and more fluidity.
A fun game I’d like to play more but the constant crashing and losing progress every five minutes makes it unplayable, it’s a shame because this game seemed promising, I’d recommended avoiding this game in its current state
Really was looking forward to playing this game from the reviews, can’t play it due to the nickname screen though. Says I don’t have gems to change my nickname.
This game is one of the best i’ve ever played and it’s really simple to learn
The game tells me to change my nickname upon opening then proceeds to tell me I don’t have enough gems. It won’t let me leave it as the default name either so there is no way to even enter the game. This is the stupidest thing I have ever encountered in a game… deleted
